Must've changed price in the last hour or so as I checked it this morning and it was $18.75/6 bottles. Now $4.75/6 bottles. Even sweeter with 2000 bonus points for $50 spend.

    I bought fronm Liquorland yesterday. Nice wine, esp for the price.
    Also Curious Kiwi Pinot Noir (which I like) for $4.75, but no stock in NSW so delivery only.

        I actually prefer the Curious Kiwi to the Chalkboard, now I have opened a bottle of the CB 2017 vintage. Some Curious Kiwi Pinots were from Nelson previously vintages, not "Marlborough", which to me were even better. But still OK esp at $5.
        Marlborough is a pretty generic term to me and Central Otago is the best region for Pinots, taken over from Martinborough.
        I recall the previous vintage of Chalkboard (2016?) was better.

      Probably not, it's a cheap Pinot produced for cellar masters/liquor land - not a winery own label.
      But at $5 it is 60% off that usual cheap price, so not much to risk.

    For a Pinot, it's probably really bad.

    You really need to spend $30+ for anything decent.

    But for $5? I'm sure it's alright 😂

    I definitely am not getting 6+ bottle discount, however Flybuys are worth $10. It's basically 10 bottles for $40.

      I grew up with an old man and others who only took a shiraz (or cab sauv) seriously, and dismissed others. Now I just always go for a shiraz because I know I'll love it…

        Merlots are great, it's a sweeter grape!

        You need to basically taste more, then you'll learn what you enjoy. Different regions appeal to different people, not just different grapes.

        This replacement Pinot noir is from NSW. I thought Pinots were better in cool climate? But I'm certainly no expert.

    Seems to be removed from the site (unless it's just me) but if you're still desperate to order, you can try the following (I tried it for shits and giggles and I was able to complete an order for a single bottle with PayPal payment. I will let you know how it goes haha):

    1. Open Firefox, navigate to https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/
    2. Open dev tools (ctrl+shift+i) and select the 'Network' tab
    3. Clear everything (the trash icon in the top left)
    4. Add something to cart
    5. Look for the 'items' file, the URL will look similar to this: https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/api/order/fc/carts/%7B8…
    6. Right-click and select 'Edit and Resend'
    7. Change the URL to 'https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/api/order/fc/carts/%7B8d55ec45-5a8f-4bd4-9c8d-a7bb8cd1224b%7D/items'
    8. In the 'Request Body' section, change the productId to '7410485'
    9. Click 'Send' and notice you have a $5 item in your cart called "Loading info…" lol (may need to refresh page)
    10. Remove the original item you added in step 4.
    11. Complete checkout as normal.

    Note: nothing illegal or inappropriate here as far as I'm aware, I was only able to obtain all those IDs as I had a previous session with the bottle already in my cart.

      The first mouthful is an absolute shocker. Let it air a bit, usually best done by drinking something else (about half a dozen G&Ts will do the trick) while it sits in a decanter (which should not be necessary for a 4 year old pinot, but here were are).

      It's actually alright then.

      Actually, I just let it air in the glass for half an hour and it improved. Second glass tasted god awful again but by the end of that glass I wanted more. Might be just shit wine with something addictive in there?
