Amazon AU: up to 10% Cashback @ ShopBack

3019

Saw this on ShopBack today.

Just a cautionary note that there have been issues with ShopBack tracking purchases lately based on all the negative votes and comments I have been seeing on OzBargain.
Just thought it might help someone who was planning a purchase regardless of the cashback tracking.

Don't like ShopBack anymore. I had multiple occasions where I missed big cashbacks and by the time you notice that the claim window has passed and they refuse to help.

    • +7

Correct. It seems to be the consumer's fault that the system fails to work. If you can provide the invoice/ receipt and you have the click history to support your claim…you should be paid- no questions!

    • +4

Even within claim window and with proof they still disallow at their discretion

    • +4

Yup - Great business model where you blame the customer and make it their fault with a number of spurious reasons . Misleading and deceptive conduct!

    • +8

Cashrewards all the way. Shopback 'investigations' are a scam. They rarely get back to you and it tends to end in not getting the cashback

  • +6

Up to. Up to. Up to.

Categories that were 5% last week, now 0%.

    What has actually changed?

  • +20

don't like shop back, they missed some many my cash back

    • +3

Yeah ShopBack appears to be bad at tracking cashback, and incorrectly tracking a lower amount than what I spent….

Stick to Cash Rewards, so much more reliable and TA is awesome!

  • +5

No problem tracking for me but Amazon offering 0% is my issue :-)

  • +5

    up to

  • +3

Every time the refund was tracked but the amount is $0

    • +2

      Same here, haha

  • +7

    ye na

  • +1

Weird never had any problems with big CB tracking and some of the ubereats limited time challenges tracked too 🤷

  • +14

Wont track and if it does 90% sure it'll get rejected

  • +15

Not anymore ShopBack, the trust is gone with you lot.

  • +8

It's only 10% if it tracks.

  • +9

It is very time consuming and difficult to chase up cash backs that were done a few months ago, and most people don’t bother.
Which is why trust is very important.
I trust cashrewards more than shopback because my ShopBack account has less $ than Cashrewards even though I used ShopBack a lot more last year.
I will be switch back to CashRewards.

    • +5

      Shopback
      Lifetime Earnings $48.16

      Cashrewards
      Lifetime Rewards $3,774.39

I think it can be said I favor Cashrewards. I did give Shopback a go but the amount of rejections I got from Amazon purchases alone that were in the right categories was astounding.

      • +2

Yeah, a bulk of my cash backs were from Amazon and around 90% of them were rejected, most of them would have been in the right categories too (if they are not in the right category I don’t bother with cash back), so the rejection rate is way too high.

      • Same here,

        Shop back $51.25

        Cashrewards $5123.14

      • +3

Haha I thought my $400 in 2 years was a solid effort.

      • Thats a lot of money they have pocketed just from you. Looking at all these complaints it must add up even more

  • +7

You might as well be donating money to Shopback.
Where's the rep gone? Good to know when shit hits the fan they hide and count their money

  • +3

Everything I would buy is 0%. As usual.
Plus the hassle of dealing with "Debra" and the chiding email that details what I obviously have done wrong.
Nup. Too much work for me.

  • +3

It missed my Dan Murphy special cashabck back in Dec
It missed my $3 special cashback last week

I think that is for me from now on with this gang.

  • +8

ShopBack is dead for me. OZB mods should remove them from store and cashbacks.
I’d rather pick CR with less cash back %

  • +3

dont trust - amazon the worst with shopback

  • +3

will cash out when everything clears and stop using it.

    • +3

      If* everything clears.

  • +2

I don't like shop back, they leaked my information.

  • +8

Failed to honor cashback on a $8,000 purchase even with ckick history and proof of order, stating merchant disallowed, but a $30 transaction works. Dodgy! Am boycotting shopback and going back to cash rewards

    • +2

Oh man, sorry to hear that

    • +1

Same happened with me when I bought $1849 phone

  • +2

Got transactions that are still pending but over the date when it's due. Have to report it to them. Pretty poor. They were usually good but ever since the "hack" they've been going downhill fast

  • +1

I sometimes have the same issue. The small amount of cashback has always tracked fast and well but sometimes missing big cashback.
This time with iherb too. I recorded the screen when I order this time. I will see they will reject or not. If they reject mine this time I will send a screen recording.

It's not only ShopBack recently missing cashback from cash rewards as well. I don't know why but never have an issue with small cashback. Missing cashback with a big amount and the claim always reject.

  • ITT: ShopBack, head shaved and bowed. The crowd jeers. A bell rings.

  • -1

For those negging Shopback, do Shopback actually tell you when rejecting your claim what conditions you have not met?

Or are they really denying a claim for Sh!ts and Gigs?

    • +4

They do not tell you - just that the conditions were not met. I always presume it is a tracking issue but that might be naive of me.

    • +1

probs the classic had an adblocker on lol

    • +2

In my latest experience they initially rejected my cashback saying it had been refunded when that wasn't the case. When I challenged them the story changed to the category rate was 0% which also wasn't true. When I provided the Ozbargain post listing the Amazon cashback rates for the day in question, showing the category for my purchase was 5%, they then ignored me.

    • you get a copy and paste email when it's rejected. It will cover 7 possible things, none of which applied to your case. It's kind of insulting but they don't have the time to personally respond to everyone who files an untracked transaction claim.

  • +2

Weird how the cashback keeps changing, last month baby products was 4/6%, today 0%, now I always have to check before placing the order

    • +1

Thats so they have a reason to reject your claim, unless you have a screenshot showing the cashback rate at time of prurchase you can't win. Dodgy indeed.

  • +1

Go with cash rewards as these guys at times offer a larger cash back but you get 0 back from them. Risk / reward scale is obvious. Have to neg so that others don’t get trapped and taken for a ride!

  • +2

They failed to track my cash back too .

  • +3

I find both similar . Somehow big purchase made at same time not tracked , but your small purchase is. Would not be surprised if that’s in both business models . Enough people to keep them going so they are not fussed .

    • I bought iphone woth $1849 from goodguys via shopback when it was 7% and they told me that goodguys did nit track me even I used shopback website on laptop and then I added the phone but they told you will not get the cashback😔

  • Too many untracked purchases

  • Beware of ShopBack crooks. They try to hack your google account by using same password that you use for ShopBack. It happened with me when I canceled my account with them.

    • That would be people who used the data from the data leak not shopback themselves

  • -1

I bought iphone from goodguys via shopback and thry told me that goodguys did nit track me even I used shopback website on laptop and then I added the phone but they told you will not get the cashback😔

It just a wastage of time, nothing else.

  • +1

Shopback must be banned from Ozbargain.

  • Damn, I will be using cashreward from now on.

  • i treat cashbacks as a bonus, not an incentive. If you don't get it, oh well, it was an extra. I would have bought the item anyway.

If you're buying something only because there's 90% cashback, that is high risk. I am disinclined to buy things I wouldn't have bought without the cashback.

SB used to work reliably. I'm not sure what changed.

    • That is not the point. There is a general concern that the amount has been transferred to the reward provider but has not been reflected on the customer's account.

I believe these big retailers should not provide any incentive for the like of shopback or cashreward and just pass the saving to the buyers directly. Why give them the cut? I personally have never visit these sites directly to look for bargains or sales.
