Sandpaper and polish. If you have a variable speed drill then get a kit from supercheap auto/ repco or any other car parts shop. Meguiar, Mothers, armor all have kits with all the sandpaper, cloths and polish you need for both headlights. The ‘residue’ is actually the top layer of coating of the plastics headlight cover degrading due to UV rays.

Plastic de-laminating. Google "headlight restoration kit" and check them out.

  • Just use wet/dry sandpaper with water start off with 800 grit to get all the coating off then 1200>2000>2500 then use a plastic polish to get the micro scratches off. Use a sealant on the headlight so it doesn't yellow.

  • Thanks everyone I bought a headlight restoration kit from Supercheap

    • They don't usually give you enough sandpaper in those kits.

Is this a Cricket thing? lol

      • Hey, yea it was a stupidly small amount of sandpaper in the Armor all kit :(

However the kit allowed me to fix some other stuff I didn't think I could fix. I sanded my old reverse camera lense, that was damaged now I can see. I also stupidly used some terps to remove some glue from the dashboard and ruined the paint. I used the polish that came with the kit and now it looks brand new.
