Already with Leaptel in an Opticomm estate, very happy with them over the past 3 years. Extremely rare outages, and speeds generally faster than those in our area with other providers (judging by their complaints in our community FB group)

Is their customer service here in Aus? Considering them aside from Aussie Broadband.

      • Yes, based in Melbourne as far as I’m aware. Everybody I’ve spoken to has been great, very helpful. One even went out of her way to provision a speed change after 9pm.

        Hi Gloomy,

All our staff are based out of Ringwood. 100% Australian (although we do have a Kiwi working for us..). Give us a ring if you want to test us, we won't mind.

        Cheers,
        Chris

  • $120 a year for fixed IP. What does it actually cost them to provision this?

    • Hi Dingo,

IPv4 addresses are actually a scarce resource. We cannot purchase anymore because APNIC has run out. And because we're a new(ish) company (founeded in 2015), we don't have pools of spare addresses sitting around unlike the big telcos who got in early.

As a result, this scarcity means we have to manage our IPv4 resources very carefully.

      Cheers,
      Chris

  • I sign up with harbourip, 69/M, but it’s 12 month contract.

  • I'm with Activ8me on FTTB Opticomm. Looking at Leaptel and HarbourISP, it seems I might be paying a bit too much.

    Currently on 250GB 25/5 for $59.

HarbourISP offer Unlimited 25/5 for $59.

Are there any other Opticomm ISPs that are worth looking at?

Who has the better international/local network and peering agreements?

Internode are okay but not competitive, at least the last time I checked. Anytime there is a problem they just blame Opticomm and leave it at that.

Exetel are cheap and surprisingly good.

      • I looked at Internode before and they do Opticomm estates but can't do FTTB Opticomm (at least to my building).

    • Exetel, Im paying $90 for 100/40 but I believe they may have recently raised their prices by ten duckets a month for the same plan.

Included a VOIP number too and I believe its a static IP but don't quote me on the last point.

So Full Throttle at $79.95 p/m is inclusive of the $10.00 discount? After 6 months it's $89.95 p/m?

    • Hi Elepurch,

That is correct, Full Throttle (100Mbps/20Mbps) is $79.95 per month for first 6 months. Then $89.95 per month.
Upload boost (to make it 40Mbps) is an additional $10 per month (so $89.95 per month for first 6 monthsn, then $99.95 per month).

      Kind Regards,
      Chris

  • Hi LeaptelRep,

Can I sign up to this deal, pay no activation fee, use it for 6 months (at the reduced rate) and then jump ship if I wanted to, without penalty?

I'm considering the Accelerated plan (Unlimited 50/20) which would be $59.95.

I'd essentially be doubling my speed and going unlimited for the same price as I'm paying now (see above).

How long does it take to churn over?

    • +1

      Yes its a non-contracted arrangement.

To be frank, we hope customers will appreciate the quality of our service and stick with us beyond 6 months, but that's a decision for you to make on what you value (and can't blame anyone for looking for the best deal!).
      .
In general I'd say from clicking the signup to being online with Leaptel is less than 1 business day with an OptiComm connection. The delay is if we call you to confirm the signup and end up playing phone tag.

      Cheers,
      Chris

  • Any chance this offer is available for plans on the LBNCo network? Looking to jump ship from my current crappy provider!

    • Hi Sydneyswans910,

We offer $10 off for 6 months on our 50Mbps and 100Mbps plans. However there is a $100 setup fee on month-to-month. We waive the setup fee on 24 month contract.

      Kind Regards,
      Chris
