How accurate are the amp ratings of these things? 4000A seems pretty outrageous. Assuming 12v, that's 48,000w, or the equivalent of maxing out 20 regular home powerpoints… even if only for a moment this is a bold claim. No way would the 8awg (or whatever it is) wires handle that current.

Don't confuse peak amp with cold cranking amp.
Its like comparing stereos PMPO wattage vs RMS wattage.
      Always look at the CCA.

Rated CCA is 800amp for 3 seconds and 500amp for 5 seconds

Tested by Project Farm to be 619amp

My 2.0L car has a battery with CCA of 550 so I bought this larger jump starter.

      • Minor quibble:
The 'starting current' is 800a (3s) but this is not technically the same as CCA (cold cranking amps). SAE J537 specifies that a battery with a CCA rating can deliver that rating at –18°C (0°F) for 30 seconds without dropping below 7.2 volts.

Jumpstarters don't have a CCA rating because none of them can deliver meaningful starting current for 30 seconds at –18°C.

  • Damn! This is the lowest price I have seen for the GP4000 model.
I just bought it for $150 from the last deal thinking that was the lowest price. 😭

I bought the GP2000 GOOLOO Jump Starter in 2019. It's the older model to this one and half the amps, anyhow I wanted to know if it worked but I didn't want to flatten my car battery to find out. My neighbour was restoring his old Kingswood, the car battery was dead dead dead! We used this jump starter and the car started after the engine turned over for at least 10 seconds before finally starting. The Gooloo Battery Jump Starter had been sitting in the back of my car for 9 months without being charged when it brought the Ol Kingswood back to life!! I was really impressed that this jump starter held it's charge for so long. With it's USB-C port you can recharge the Gooloo battery with your car's phone charger. It also works as a power bank, I can (fast) charge my phone with it.

    • …Which reminds me… it's been at least 6 months since I re-charged my GP2000. Charge was around 50-60% :)

(Yes, they do hold the charge a reasonably long time.. I used to re-charge it every 3 months)

[What You Get]: GOOLOO Heavy-Duty Jump Starter GP4000, 12V Battery Clamp, Type C Wall Charger

The wall charger is actually Type-A. The charging cable they provide is Type-C at the other end.

"The wall charger is actually Type-A. The charging cable they provide is Type-C at the other end."

My GOOlOO GP2000 came with both a short USB Type-A to Type-C and a USB Type-A to Micro-USB cables. I notice from the GP4000 model it has a USB Type-C to Type-C instead (if this product description is accurate).

No matter, we had a massive 36 hour blackout over a year ago when a stolen 4WD managed to bring down a couple of power poles… Managed to recharge a few of my neighbours' mobile phones with both types of USB sockets. I would recommend getting a couple of short USB cables of both types to have on standby in need.

      • You must have an older GP2000 model as the recent ones has the same package contents as the GP4000 model from recent deals.
