Is the tripod just a standard screw mount? Can you just get any tripod to use with this?
yes can use any…I have a small tripod similar so wouldn't get the kit in this case
I tried to pricematch officeworks before they took out the combo but lady on the phone couldnt manage, went into closest store (they meant to have 1 in stock) and they send the last item to another stock (maybe lied who knows).

Does anyone know if this works properly with Android phones? I've been told they are optimised for iPhones, could be wrong.
It works well with the native phone camera app. But the limitations are on the dji mimo app, like being unable to record 60fps.
It depends on your device. Works fine at 4k 60fps with my Android device.
Really!? Are you using the DJI mimo app to record or the native one? What is your phone model? I've looked everywhere and all evidence suggests no support for 60fps at most resolutions on Android.

How effective are these things for simple tasks such as recording sports games (like basketball) from the courtside? Kids are trying to get college scholarships and need game tapes.
Currently use my s20fe mounted in a selfie stick, and I think I need to step up my game.

The main thing you'll notice is a level horizon, freehand stabilisation can be great but a gimbal like this will give it the edge to keep pans level as if it was on a fluid tripod head. Added smooth motion for tilt axis is also great as you'll be aiming up for shots etc.
Ahhh the international influencers starter pack stick. Influence on a beach, influence by a mountain, influence in the backyard… the gimble will stabilise you so you can destabilise your ass on camera.

It's pretty amazing to think this robotised stabilization technology didn't exist at all until just a few years ago. It's not that long ago that I was messing around with Flycam stabilizers & camera sliders (which I still love).
Will this work with Huawei Mate 10 Pro?
