40% off Cases of Beer (e.g. $57 for 24x Pale Ale + Delivery) @ Sparkke

140
FLASH24

Sparkke Brewing are doing a 40% off flash sale until tomorrow, excluding their non-beer products. They make some solid brews, and the social justice aspect is a nice bonus (10% of profits go towards the various causes on the different products).

They're based in SA so shipping is cheap to there plus NSW at least, while it's $20 for my state of QLD. May not be a bad idea to get two cases and split with someone, or just two for yourself.

The brew of choice for social justice warriors (with a political message on every can).

No thanks, I'll pass (because it's just as bad as Gillette).

    • +6

Hey, women have just as much right to produce truly forgettable over-priced "craft" beer as men…. and then constantly tell you about it.

    • +1

      No one misses your custom.

    • +3

That’s been their mission from the very start, rather than a tacky add-on to sell more razors.

Do you malign Thank You or Good Beer Co for the same thing?

      • -3

yes, and I'm so glad they are upfront and honest (from the start) in using social justice issues to play on people's anxieties (often self-inflicted) with respect to these causes, whilst (trying) to sell more beers. It makes it easier to know that I haven't ever given them my money and never will, as opposed to a business turning to a cringeworthy level of wokeness and I fully regret ever purchasing their product and the fact that I have given them my money at a point in time.

        • -1

Wow, how can we be as cool as you? Do we just have to make faux-woke comments about 'cringey wokeness'? The fact you feel the need to complain and drag people down for trying to make their own positive contribution to society is pretty sad.

          • -2

@eggboi: I just see beyond the marketing and the fact that everyone claims to be making a positive contribution to society but in many cases actually are making things worse.

I'm sorry you were triggered by my comments.

Craft beer isn't about fighting for equal rights. It's about making quality beer for everyone to enjoy. Unfortunately they can't even manage to make a good beer.

      user name checks out…

great - ive had their pale ale before and pretty good!

The ozbargainer in me says $49.95 for equivalent 375ml Coopers Pale Ale bottles from Dan Murphys vs This, delivered (not even SA pickup option) for 1 case of cans for $67 (not even considering 440ml cans of Coopers for $2 more)

With ~$7 price difference, I guess you're approximately paying for the 10% contribution to those social justice causes (that they choose for you).

If you start comparing every craft beer deal to Coopers you’re in for a bad time.

      • If you start comparing every craft beer deal

that is, if it were actually a deal (ie. not significant discount on an already inflated RRP) on (probably) mediocre overpriced beer (and whatever else they can make) with a social justice marketing campaign to accomodate to the raging millenial.

whatever makes you sleep at night (although how could you possibly sleep at night with all the social inequalities in the world!?!?)

I like Coopers (prefer Sparkling) but it's very different to a lot of the hoppier pale ales on the market. But yea, I'm usually hunting for a good IPA carton for 60ish.

Through Oz B I paid under 60 for Bentspoke Crankshaft, and that price for Grifter Big Sur but if your fridge is running low this might fit the bill. Haven't tried any of these beers to judge the quality.

      • +1

        When/where was Bentspoke $60?!

        • It was BWS $10 off through their app, plus 20% cashback. The 20% was applied on the original price, so total was $57 I think. BWS is kind of crappy with cashrewards tracking, but I got my money in the end hehe

  • How are you getting 24 x pale ale for $57?

  • +1

They must be using gold plated hops.

  • $10 Shipping to NSW. Grabbed the multipack for $64 delivered.

  • +4

Jesus, their website is the cringiest thing I've ever seen.

  • +1

$20 to WA (ok in the circumstances), will still grab the multipack for $74 delivered. Yeah the webby is a bit on the nose but I like the social justice stuff so will take a punt at that price and hope the beer is decent :D

  • Only tried the pale ale but it was abysmal, no flavour, weird smell, straw like colour. Don’t understand where the $95 a case figure originated but at $57 is better value at least

  • +1

I love craft beers and have drank from most SA breweries Unfortunately I'm yet to try a Sparrke beer that's worth drinking. Very bland, uninspired brews.

  • +3

The company sounded interesting so I ordered the multipack which just arrived.
Two of the 4 beers had just passed their best before date and the other two have best before dates next month which is very disappointing from a craft brewer.
The red ale might be OK but the others are styles that drink better young.
Not very ethical to not warn you.

    • +1

That's definitely not what you want - I'd message the brewery. If they're worth their salt they'll replace them or refund you.

    • +1

I got exactly the same. Pale Ale and Pilsner were past BB and Red Ale and Black IPA were short date (BB in a few weeks). To say I was annoyed was an understatement. I just shot them a rather terse email about their dodgy business practices. If they want to flog short dated beer it would be common courtesy to let the customer know so an informed decision can be made. Last Sparkke beer I ever buy.
