no matcha no deal! :)
I saw the matcha flavour at Coles Macquarie Centre recently. Maybe wait until they're half price at Coles?
I thought the were a deleted line? By far the best flavour 😋
So does everything you eat lol
Eh? It’s ice cream. Yes it’s sugary but it’s also ice cream.
This deal keeps getting better and better.
How was today's workshop?
good. wbu
I much prefer the Bulla 2L Creamy Classics when they on sale for half price @ $4.25
Awesome flavours and so CREAMY!Not really so CREAMY!
Connoisseur vanilla has almost 50% more cream (36%) than Bulla 2L Creamy Classics vanilla (25%)! So it's not from the cream!
Source: Woolies ingredientsIt may feel creamier due to the added ingredients & processing introducing more air. Emulsifiers & Stabilisers along with constant churning, maintain the smaller ice crystals to make the ice cream feel creamier
But hey, it tastes creamier, that's what matters.
It's like serendipity. That's so creamy, it can't be natural. But it's the best god damn ice cream to grace my mouth.
They are different styles of ice cream. So will suit different tastes or uses.
The Connoisseur is denser / firmer (weighs more) & the Bulla Creamy is smoother / less dense (weighs less) due to more air. (The amount of air in ice cream used to fluff it up is called Overrun.)
Can be seen if you were to allow them to melt. The Bulla melts to a lower level due to higher Overrun.
Or weigh the two, taking into account packaging weight & different quantity of each.Very good information. Do you have a YouTube video or a source for me to learn up on?
The Bulla melts to a lower level due to higher Overrun.
What do you mean by this please?
I'm personally a fan of Con. Bulla just doesn't cut it for me.
Could do a search.
Air is the cheapest ingredient in ice cream, but it's necessary if you don't want rock hard iced ice cream🍦
With higher air content (Overrun) in Bulla, after melting - the quantity in the container will be less than an equal initial volume of Connoisseur.
More basic ice cream will perform worse. Basically, the drop is due to the amount of air in the ice cream. It's noticeable when scooping different ice cream. Lots of air - easier to scoop. Connoisseur can be quite hard, with Bulla softer to scoop.
I ate a lot of Bulla Creamy years ago. But now prefer a smaller amount of the firmness & richness of Connoisseur. But it's not as good as I first remember… Looking for a better one.
@INFIDEL: Try the aldi 1L Indulge! Haven't touched Connoisseur in years. It's $4.99 a litre. Triple choc
@SoTightEcoLPI: Tried once - never again.
For 51c more, the Connoisseur is worth paying extra. Rather than settling for a Connoisseur want-to-be. That's Aldi's main advantage - selling cheaper clones of better products!
Taste is very individual. Grew up on fantastic home made ice cream. It was a weekly treat - something to look forward to.
So I was spoilt & know what to expect in good ice cream. Was taught how to make it. We get used to what we like. Also for health sake… buying more expensive Connoisseur as a treat (only when half price) restricts my ice cream intake😉
@INFIDEL: Well explained, makes so much sense!.. I could have done the search but now I know as I have more context.
Connoisseur FTW always for me.
About ice cream overrun - the amount of air added to ice cream.
Same price now @IGA until Tuesday night.
Check local catalog in Deal Link.22 + votes vs 116 + votes. the star power is strong.
Depends if there's an IGA handy.
For me a 300m walk from home & open longer hours than Woolies. So stocked up.
But no Rewards points or payment with discount eGift card.
Appears to be a single serving…..
You eat a litre in one sitting?!
You gotta ration it out, like a true Ozbargainer.
Dam that was funny! I have tried to eat it all in one go but didn't make it
Definitely is a 2 night job
I prefer the flavour of Aldi premium vanilla ice cream, not sure of the cream percentage though..
Price is always right too!

How often do these 50% off deals come around? I wonder how much I should stock up on
Haven't seen them at 50% for a while but they're regularly at 30%. If you look across Coles, IGA and Woolworths you'll probably find them half price within a month or so.
If you are looking for premium ice cream at half price, Coles have the Bulla Murray St ice cream on special at $5 until tomorrow.

There are other flavours as well. I enjoyed the BlackBerry with brownie pieces…

links don't work
Only 400-460mL v 1Lt ConnoisseurI searched the coles website and there is no Bulla Murray St plain vanilla
Looking at the Bulla Website there is no plain vanilla option so I don't know how people are comparing Bulla Murray St with Connoisseur Ice Cream Vanilla when Bulla Murray St does not make a plain vanilla option ??
Honestly can't taste the difference between this and Coles own brand ice cream
Yeah same here. I have been buying coles brand ice cream whenever Connoisseurs are not discounted.
But do they have fudge brownie pieces in the ice cream??
Link ?
Which Coles branded Vanilla ice cream tastes the same as Connoisseurs Vanilla ice cream ?
Yep same
Which flavours have you been getting? I haven’t loved most the Coles own brand ones I’ve tried, though the mocha one is okay. The Woolies macadamia honey flavour is pretty amazing in the premium ice cream category though.
Actually prefer the coles brand buttermilk flavour ice cream to any connoisseur.
When did these become $11. Ridiculous price for a 1l tub of very basic ice cream
I reckon. While it's a nice ice cream, used to be $4.50 half price. Ridiculous at $11. They must sell none at that price
Last day at this price at IGA - https://www.iga.com.au/catalogue/
So tempting to stay cool
Just saying - there's an android app "Half Price" which lists all items on half price deal in that week woolies and coles.
The coles app just got an update and took away the ability to sort by 1/2 price. So this may come in handy. What's it called?
Has anyone been able to purchase the coconut chocolate connesuir flavour recently? In melb south east corridor?
