  • good price

    • I haven't compared the price yet, but I think it's a good price :)

  • Is it me or is the latency kinda weird?
I remember 5-5-5-15 being the norm for "enthusiast" ram
Or has it changed since DDRII, been out of the loop for a couple of years now lol

  • so what the go with ram specially designed for intel CPU's? does ithave issues with AMD CPUs?

    • -4

Designed for MOBO's with specific Intel sockets, you could try to jam an AMD cpu into one of them, or you could try the ram in an AMD board, one may work, one definately wouldn't.

      • seriously mate, im talking about using it on a AMD cpu and an amd motherboard. will it work on an AMD motherboard

        • "or you could try the ram in an AMD board, one may work" I don't see why it wouldn't work unless the slot sizes are different which isn't the case as far as I am aware.

        • See this is what i dont get. u say one will work. but two wont?
The reason i ask is im still in ddr2 world and fine this designed for intel very strange

        • No, I mean that one method I suggested might work (the ram in an AMD board, which ofcorse would need to be DDR3 compatable) while the other (Trying to jam the amd cpu into an intel socket) would not.

        • Lol ok. i thought u were saying that 1 ram would work but 2 wouldnt. Ok all makes sense. so whats with the designed for intel then?

        • so whats with the designed for intel then?

Marketing gimmick. To get people to buy Intel. RAM is just RAM — it works on both Intel and AMD.

  • How much different are these compared to:

    Apart from the fancy heatsinks?

$35+ $7 = $42…I could pick up the Ripjaws by walking into PCCG for $45 or pay $39 for the non-ripjaws (but same specs?)

    • +1

Those you linked are the value modules. No heatsinks and slower 1333Mhz vs 1600Mhz. I'd get the ripjaws for the sake of a few bucks. I paid $120 for my set last year and they've served me very well.

      • ahh ok! my bad!

    • +1

the ram you linked to is slower. 1333mhz vs 1600mhz

      • Slower is a harsh word, they would be pretty much the same in real time performance but 1333 is less than 1600.

  • Out of stock :(

  • From memory I paid about $40 for 8Gb of RAM for my HP Microserver a few months ago… this doesn't seem that good. Plus it's M-wave.

  • finally, someone who WAS cheaper than MSY, at least for 1 hour. $9 cheaper.

  • +1

    Unbelievable. -_-

Missed this deal and I was already planing to buy this exact model of RAM from MSY this week for $52.

    • Missed this as well. I recently purchased this for $52 as well from PCDIY. The 1600mhz ram was only $4 more expensive than the standard 1333mhz ddr3 ripjaws

  • I bought one of these before to put into my 1st generation i3 processor along with an existing ddr 1600 kit - the computer would not boot up. Works fine up my brothers 2nd generation i7 though.

    Anyone know whats up?

    • I've read that the i3 memory controller only supports up to 1333mhz unless you overclock probably due to multipler -x- Front Side Bus (can't remember which one dictates memory, pretty sure it's FSB).

may be you should check compatibility with your motherboard before buying RAM :)
