BWS: 30% Cashback ($25 Cap) @ ShopBack - 12pm to 4pm AEDT

15216

I could be wrong but I think this is the first time that BWS is having 30% cashback. Could this be the new norm?

  • ShopBack must be the last link you clicked in order to get Cashback. If other website links are clicked after clicking through ShopBack, Cashback will not be tracked (E.g. coupon websites and deal websites).
  • Return to ShopBack and clickthrough to BWS every time you are making a new transaction.
  • Accounts that engage in fraudulent orders/activities to game/cheat the Cashback system will be banned and Cashback forfeited.

Same. Although OP has marked it not commencing for another few hours.

  • +3

Does that include the Berala store?

    • +8

For that store if the cash back tracking doesn't come through at least you'll get contact tracking.

      30% Catchback*

    That's 9am to 1pm for Westralians

Just ordered some Laphroaig for $79.85 from dan murphys with 2% cashback. Was worried when I saw this then I realised they were selling the same item for $113, working out to be more expensive even after cashback!

  • in before shopback haters

    • Out before my credentials are hacked

  • +16

    Will it track?
    Who knows?
    Coin flip?
Toss a coin to your Shopback. Oh valley of plenty.

    • +1

I had zero issues with tracking over the Cyber weekend deals last year when purchasing via their app.

      • Did you go thru the BWS app or just the shopback app?

      • +7

On the flip side, last time shopback had a BWS cashback, mine didn't track and even after I put in a claim it was denied YMMV.

  • +1

Lower Dan's prices, sometimes "online offers" with lower cashback, even during events, vs. BWS's higher prices with higher cashback percentages.

It's impossible to get everything to align all the time, you just need to work out what you want and pull the trigger when the price is good.

I think the way to approach this is to buy what you like from the sale catalogue each time to keep up your inventory of whatever you are into.

    • My beer of choice is the same price at both stores in fact $1 cheaper if I buy 2 at BWS.

      • which one/?

  • +11

Didn’t track for me last time, definitely not going to try again.

    • +5

      Had the same issue.

    • +1

Didn’t track for me either, so I raised the issue and they confirmed the cash back. It was easy.

      • I raised the issue on the 15th, it still says pending and no amount is showing.

  • +3

It wont track… Dont ever buy from BWS deals ..

  • +32

    Never had an issue with standard cashbacks, upsized deals, nothing but problems with SB. Be WARNED. Chances are you will get this email;
We have appealed this missing cashback claim with the merchant and found that the merchant has deemed ShopBack ineligible to earn commissions on this transaction which results in us being unable to pass the cashback along to you.
So, do everything right, then be caught out paying too much for something that didn't track.

    • -4

      Username checks out perfectly!

    • +3

Been there done that. Unless it is already discounted without ShopBack’s so called “upsized” cashback, I wouldn’t hold my breath.
I’d rather buy stuff with upfront voucher codes which shows you exactly what you pay, not what you “might” get back.
PS: Dan Murphy has some good priced whiskies I bought yesterday, but through their eBay store which has $5 off each for anything over $50. Ebay store price was the same as website. You can order up to 10 bottles in 10 transactions

    • +6

I rang NSW fair trading about this. They told me to go to ACCC. There is a mutual promotion with the retailer and with SB. They need to honor it. The more people who call the ACCC the more likely they will fix this. It is unfair trading. With groupon, you have a returns policy, but it expires before you find out if the cashback is honored. Please call ACCC.

    • So I replied to the rejection email, expressing my concerns at the system. This was part of SB reply:
Your feedback regarding this matter has been noted to help us continuously improve our product. I like to also share that for most rejected missing cashback cases, ShopBack will not receive any commission from First Choice Liquor because the orders are not tracked therefore deemed as not attributed to ShopBack.
      Most rejected cases, not all???

  • -2

Don't forget to pick up free mask in store when you pick up.

  • +11

    Only problems with shopback!

    • +2

Exact same thing happens, even on first choice

  • +13

30% chance of cash back tracking

    • +8

correct got mine declined for absolutely no reason last time, same with an amazon order recently, goodbye shopback

    • +7

Same success rate on my account.

  • Thats what exactly what they said to me… So is that the problem with SB is it? I thought might be the merchant… May be next time ill just get the the form Cashrewards…

  • +9

Problem with BWS is their prices are 20% higher than Dans/FirstCHoice to begin with. Discount here is small……. and their range is small too.

So really, discount here is really ~10%

    • +5

Nah, you won't get the cashback

      • +4

        ^ at all.

        Just go to Dan's.

    • Depends on what you're looking for, some are more than 30% higher than in Dans. The Berri Estates Classic Dr White 5L cask is close to 32% higher in BWS.

  • +1

anticipating bws website will crash like it normally does with these offers

  • +6

Too many issues with SB. Promo's with a higher than usual cashback magically don't track.
Investigating missing cashback claims get rejected after waiting in limbo for 2 months.

    • I agree, I ordered from a store that offered 3.6% for new customers, 1.8% for old customers, I literally created the account inside the Shopback app and got 1.8% with no straightforward way to flag it.

I get the feeling that a lot of these challenges aren't being paid either as they aren't as easy to track and my earned figure doesn't go up as much as it should.

    • +1

Along with incorrect calculations. Most of mine were underpaid by a few $$ and that was factoring in ex gst. Not good Shopback, not good.

  • +1

Might get some capi tonic water to go with the last hendrick gin deal.

  • +2

All the denied cashbacks have funded a slightly higher cashback percentage that a portion of us won't get anyway.

  • So $84 worth of purchases to maximise the $25 cap?

  • +1

Need to spend min $83.33 to get the max $25 cap back

  • +13

So frustrating that these cashback companies can get away with this! If they’re going to offer these discounts then there needs to be accountability. 100% of the time the discount should work, provided the user has followed the protocol (best through their apps).
I’m noticing the the common response now is “it’s been rejected by the merchant..” so it’s not the cashback companies’ fault.
RUBBISH. It’s not right and certainly not in the oz bargain spirit!
We need to be making this loud and clear to this mob! Options?

    • +4

Totally agree and can see the demise of CashRewards and Shopback if they don't start taking responsibility. I can understand some things not tracking, that's fine. It's when they reject things and blame the merchant. If ones sends the proof of purchase, Click ID and everything was followed by the letter, then that should all be that is needed. Anything beyond that is between CR or SB to sort with merchant. Not our issue! It has got more painful these days, there is no doubt about that.

      • +2

Yep that’s my point. I made similar effort with a similar answer.
I want these companies to work. But it needs to be win-win.
They need to be predicable and accountable every time.

    • +5

I have asked OzBargain to ban SB for their dishonest business practices. Maybe if enough people request this, it might happen?

      • +2

Big stores like this don't get banned. Instead they'd end up banning the reps from posting but not the members. That would obviously result in sockpuppeting.

Also here's an unrelated fact for the day. Did you know an OzBargain mod left to go work for Shopback. Talk about conflict of interest in my opinion.

        • +1

I don't understand how that's a conflict? If he/she was working for both organisations at the same time, then maybe.

  • +1

Haven't bothered sussing out prices yet but you maybe able to double dip with the targeted bonus points offer. Mine is 2000pts for $50 so I'll definitely look after 12pm. Cheers

  • Not much in the spirits department worth buying at the inflated prices.

Some decent wine specials, expecially the 2/50 or 2/40 ones with a 27% net discount

  • +3

Yes ShopBack can claim to give even 100% cashback as it will only track for 1 in 50, thereby making the actual cashback 2% which is the standard LOL
    SB is a scam

  • Make sure you check your rewards apps for any points deals.

I had a spend $50 for 2000 bonus points not yet claimed.

    • How do you combine rewards with shopback?

      • Mine is $200 spend 😬

      • It would just go through on your BWS order if you have your rewards card on the order.

No reason it would impact the cashback.

  • +6

Yep, don't trust Shopback. They barely ever pay up on their specials. Despite being in my click history (and ad browsers, etc switched off) when I contact them they always say they will investigate, then nothing. I have asked OzBargain to ban SB for their dishonest business practices. Maybe if enough users request it, they will get banned?

    • +2

Yes! I would like oz bargain mods to get the true picture of magnitude of this problem. Maybe they will be able to make such a review and of course determine whether some such companies should be removed until they can demonstrate a more consistent process.

  • BWS is a great place to buy wine, check out their wine clearance section.

I've found wine 30% less than Dan's and with stacked cashback it's well over a 50% discount.

Each store is individual, an example is some Californian wine Dan's has on members special for $36 is $23 at my local BWS. Add 30% CB and you're laughing.

Unfortunately Adelaide is tough to find decent wine clearances, but interstate some stores have awesome stuff at times.

  • +2

Two cases of corona for $99. Maxes out the cashback to $25. $37 per case not too bad. Stack with 2000 points for a $50 spend and brings it to $33 a case.

Works similarly for most beer specials.

    • +2

Just make sure you're happy with the price minus the cashback,

  • +2

Has anyone worked out how to list all beers instead of viewing by their own arranged categories on this piece of s**t website?

  • +1

Be warned. The last time I tried to use a similar BWS offer, my cashback didn't track so I inquired about it. Then I received this email:

"Thank you for submitting a missing Cashback claim. We have investigated and found that the merchant has deemed ShopBack ineligible to earn commissions on this transaction which results in us being unable to pass the Cashback along to you. That said, we know how frustrating missing Cashback can be, and will now take additional steps to appeal on your behalf directly with BWS. Please allow us some time for this to happen, this process can take up to 45 days depending on how fast we hear back from BWS."

I had no adblocker on, never clicked through to another page, didn't purchase any excluded items etc… It's been about 3 weeks since I got that email and haven't heard anything else since. From what other commenters have said it sounds like there is zero chance I'll get this cashback. I've used Cashrewards and Shopback plenty of times before and this is the first time I've run into a problem. To me it's not worth the risk to try again with Shopback.

    • +1

Check your SB rewards to see if it is showing there. If not, reply back to them using that email asking them where this is up to.
The biggest hassle is having to do all of this to begin with and then monitoring the payment months down the line (which will if accepted I bet will be short a dollar or two)! It's a pain for both SB & even CR are falling into this trap more these days :-(

      • It shows up in my overview as "pending: validating your cashback". Not sure there's much else to do since it's not been 45 days. I did reply to their original email the same day I received it and never heard back. It's just frustrating not being told exactly why it's supposedly ineligible when I haven't done anything different this time around.

        • +1

Just monitor it and then if after the date nothing shows…………….email them again. Annoying I know and is why for the most part don't bother with these anymore as BWS tend to be expensive (if Cashback does not go through). Too much work and effort for a few $$ off (for me at least).

    • +1

Debra must have moved on to working for the merchant

  • What bullshit. Lagavulin 9 years was still showing $95 an hour ago. Now, leading up to the 30% cashback, it’s back to $129 ?! Is it BWS and not SB ? Maybe, maybe not…. (It’s $90 at Dan Murphy’s though)

  • +2

SB sits on a throne of lies

  • Does the ten dollar voucher for signing up make the shopback claim invalid?
It says only use promo codes from shopback so I'm guessing yes

    • Is it a generic code? If so, can u post it on here? The old $10 sign up code that was floating around here worked and still gave me cashback via cashrewards in December.

    • It invalidates cashrewards so probably same for SB.

  • +1

I cant even get the shopback app to load anything on the BWS website. Nothing shows in any category you go into and im sure as hell not going to risk trying it via PC ive had things not track in the past

  • Anyone have any luck getting the free 6 pack of stubbies to add ?

    • It won't work with my 3x Asahi, but it seems to work with 3x 4X Gold :(

    • Free six pack…where now?

  • Damn has BWS stopped delivery to some areas? I got some stuff delivered to my house last year and now it says "We're working on delivery to XXXX. Change address or Pick Up in Store.".

  • +1

    anyone got theirs tracked?

    • +1

      Yep, tracked, happy days :)

    • Yes $24.22 on a $90 purchase. A case of Stella Artois and ten 650ml bottles of Hollandia Lager.

  • Sucks that the cashback is so unreliable, fantastic deal otherwise 😪

  • Panhead Quickchange XPA Cans 355mL are listed as $77 per carton: https://bws.com.au/product/806351/panhead-quickchange-xpa-35…

  • Will the $10 sign up bonus with BWS void the cashback

    • I'm guessing it will but holding off until someone can verify

  • -2

Mine got rejected. I used credit card, no coupons, link via shopback. Gotta cancel my order. please wait before you pick up your goods. make sure cash back is confirmed. shopback is big bullshit sometimes.

    • How do you know it was rejected?

      • Interesting. I'd like to know that as well. If it was via email, what did the email say?

  • Gonna give it a go with the Crown lager $50 to $35 with discount and hope for the best

  • -1

    It says rejected.

  • Tanqueray 1l $60
    Kahlua 1l $38
Both good prices without the cash back, so fingers crossed it comes through for a bonus.

I added some cooking wine to go over $100 for the bonus rewards points

    • HOOLY DOOLY, IT TRACKED!

It did take 2 hours to show up, but maybe I'll actually get the cashback this time.

My method was to use the app on my phone, and the app's internal browser.
I'd logged into BWS earlier in the day through the app's internal browser hoping to remove unnecessary steps, but it still asked me for my password when checking out.

I also went through mobile data rather than WiFi as I was unsure if PiHole would interfere with the tracking.
