Do these require any sort of subscription or wifi network to operate?
My father in law has an amazon one with a ring box thing in another room which requires wifi to operate. You plug the Home Base into your router via the included LAN cable. Super easy to set up, got one a week ago and love it.
Edit: no subscription/fees/any form of other payment
No subscription or wifi (connects to router over ethernet).
Footage is saved to the home base and access is via internet.
You can do sub if cloud storage is needed.
So the home base provides the internal ring?
What about if the router is switched off but the home base was on? Would it still ring?Yes, it will. Router/Internet is only needed to connect to your mobile. So even if there is no internet, or router is off, bell remains connected to the home base via its own 2.4Hz wifi, and will keep operating.
P.S. you only need to plug home base initially to your router via ethernet. After that it can connect via wifi as well using the eufy App. So gives you added flexibility to keep home base anywhere.
Thank you all for your replies.
Hey. Can anyone comment on the lag from pressing the doorbell to getting the footage?
Also, has anyone gotten much luck getting these connected to a Google Home device to see who is at the door?
Thanks!Lag is probably less than a second from the moment you pres the doorbell to the chime ringing from the homebase.
Also I've connected mine to Alexa so all the echos' around the house acts as chimes and announces theres someone at the doorbell.
Notification to the phone is handy as well as you can respond it anywhere and anytime. We havent missed a parcel since installing it last October and no subscription fees as well.
Cheers
That’s great to know. Thank you!
Anyone know if you can connect to Google so all the Nest Hub/Homes around the house acts as chimes and announces there's someone at the doorbell?
Can anyone tell me why this is better than the amazon ring … https://www.amazon.com.au/Ring-Spotlight-Cam-Battery-HD-Security-Camera-with-Built-Two-Way-Talk-Black/dp/B077DFF7ZF/?encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=9gATS&pf_rd_p=94db6050-dac4-471e-8fd0-f96bd793ca72&pf_rd_r=T5RYDX17306P6HDCVQ7Q&pd_rd_r=3fa389f6-7058-4e51-a7e8-c2f6b828a4bf&pd_rd_wg=Y6eZr&ref=pd_gw_ci_mcx_mr_hp_d
Im kind of browsing the idea at the moment so I dont know much !
Consider the security & privacy implications before purchasing a Ring product….
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2020/dec/23/amazon-ri…
https://foundation.mozilla.org/en/privacynotincluded/ring-vi…I believe with Ring doorbells you have to pay a monthly subscription fee if you want to save or review any footage. With the Eufy doorbell the footage gets saved to the homebase and there are no fees required to view it.
How does it compare to Bunnings Orion Grid video doorbell https://www.bunnings.com.au/orion-grid-connect-smart-wireles… ?
- Not many reviews
- The reviews that exist are not fantastic
- At least bunnings has a pretty lax return policy
Not sure how it compares to the eufy, but I got my orion about a week ago and loving it so far.
Seems a simple pin to remove it from the dock - can this be secured further to stop someone coming along and removing it (yes, even though they know they'll get their image taken)?
I don't believe so
Hey everyone, anyone got this to work with Google hub?
the cameras works on the hub, just rather slow.
Thankyou
I have one and like it, however the motion detection is awful. Sometimes a courier drops a package on my doorstep and I get about 2 seconds of footage of him walking away. I also get more than enough recordings of cars going past which are outside my detection zone.
It's a great doorbell, but not so great as a security camera
Guessing you tried increasing sensetivity?
I've tried everything! Increasing sensitivity leads to hundreds of false detections, so it's a balancing act
If thief doesn’t press donger, can still record film?
I don’t generally want a thief near my donger. Though you might make money with the film.
Yes I believe it has motion detection, it'll start recording when someone is nearby.
Can you add other camera around the house and use the same home base?
Yes, you can Cameras, Motion Sensors, Door/Window Sensors in as many numbers as you want. I have 2 cameras, 1 door bell and 4 motion sensors linked to 1 home base.
Up to 16 cameras on the Homebase.
