      On average, skinny fit is narrower than slim fit

      There isn’t a standard skinny jean or standard slim pant. One brand’s skinny fit might be wider than another brand’s slim fit

      Within a brand, though, skinny fit is always narrower than slim fit

      Generally, I find American standards for skinny etc to be at least 1 size wider than others.
      (USA still likes wide pants at the bottom, weird).

      edit: i have some levis at home and you can probably get away with a 32 if you're a 34 as they are reasonably stretchy (although mine are skinny-skinny ones, so ymmv). just roll the cuffs up if they are too long, its on-trend anyway.
