  • Is this Ultimate Edition or just base game?

    • +8

words number 5 and 6: vanilla version

      • +2

ahh missed that, should have read. Thanks.

        • no problem at all

    • +6

Ultimate Edition is about $9.45 at Gamesplanet.com: https://uk.gamesplanet.com/game/assetto-corsa-ultimate-editi…

      • Paid £6.88 ($12) a while ago, tested it once.. oh well.

Still need to have a proper look at it but noticed controller only works in game not on other screens etc. Also, compared to Forza it's a lot harder to drive so must be more realistic I assume.

        • +4

Assetto corsa is a racing simulator, Forza is a racing game. It takes a lot of adjusting but I'd highly recommend getting into it.. especially if you download content manager and get additional tracks from race department. https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html Been playing it for 2 years now and absolutely loving it, infinite replayability. At least if you spin out in the game you'd spin out in real life, I find Forza is pretty but too forgiving. Good luck!

          • @GreyChris: Thanks mate for the feedback - just as I thought/asssumed. It's still brilliant for the price and I'm sure good once you're used to the driving realistic conditions. I've only got forza on Medium/normal and it's always surprising how fast you can go/hold on. Still get it very wrong so not doubt a learning curve either way :D.

Also got dirt rally for nothing much a while ago, much the same, a lot harder but cool

  • Has anyone noticed how bad the cars sound in this when you're in 3rd person view? The engine literally sounds like it's under water.

    • +6

thankfully you dont drive in 3rd person view :)

    • +1

Well yes, but I'm legally blind so it turns out I parked in a river. Or are you talking about the game?

  • +2

I have 120 hours into this and I'm still terrible at it.

  • +1

Heaps of custom car and track mods available for this game!

  • +2

Heads-up, this game is unplayable with controllers, even if you optimise all the sensitivity settings, its really horrible. Defo need a steering wheel to have a decent experience.

    • Played it once and spent a few hours configuring the controller and testing settings. Could do laps around nurburgring but not decent lap times. Haven't tried the steering wheel yet, but will try if I can be bothered taking it out from storage.

    • +1

      Any real sim is.

  • +1

Worth the upgrade for Ultimate edition??? I'm not hardcore at all and don't have a steering wheel. keen to try it in VR however, (with controller)

    • It's also 83% off so only an extra $5. Probably worth it I would guess.

    • +1

If you get hooked later you'll save a lot on dlcs by getting the ultimate edition. Once you play it more often it's a non negotiable for the additional cars and laser scanned tracks. On race department there is a enough content to keep you busy for years but the Kunos official laser scanned tracks are perfect.

  • Do I need to create an account on their website or can I just get this through steam?

    • +1

      Redeem on Steam.

      • How do I do that? When I try to purchase via stream its $37

        • +2

You buy from Fanatical (click the link above). You need to make a free account there.
Then you find the Steam key in your account.
You then go to your Steam account and copy-paste the code into Steam and click to activate. The game should now be in your Steam library.

If it is still confusing to you, PM me as I am happy to get it for you and send you the code via PM if you paypal me the money.

          • @Lysander: Thanks, I've got it. I am building 4 sims so need to buy 4 copies and create 4 steam accounts. So now need to create 4 Fanatical accounts too :-)

            • @MikeKulls: I have just checked - we have bought an extra key that comes with three Dreampacks as well. Just in case you only want to create three accounts PM me. Or if you have any more questions.

              • @Lysander: Thanks, I got it working. I found 1 Fanatical account can only purchase the game twice so have to have 2 fanatical accounts and 4 steam accounts.
