      Anyone know a good price for a real archery set, obvs doesnt have to be super fancy or anything.

      I'm just mad I paid $35 entrance fee and the only decent thing at an attraction park was the archery where we had 4 shots

        Join an archery club, or at least do an intro course before buying equipment. It’s too easy to develop bad form/habits, and once you develop them it’s really hard to break them even with a good coach.

        If you’re in the south eastern suburbs there are a couple of different places in Moorabbin, and if you’re eastern suburbs I think there is one in Box Hill/Knox and a good place near Lilydale.

          for ergonomic and RSI prevention reasons? or just so you can be a perfect archer?

            @bargain huntress: Both.
            But it’s not about being “a perfect archer”, particularly with recurve even them a small bad habit can be the difference between a frustrating time and an enjoyable time.

      • As Mapax says, seek out a nearby Archery club and either join (many offer tuition and have club bows for you to use until you know what you want to buy) or ask if they run 'Come and Try Days'. The club I'm a member of runs open days 8 odd times a year and they're a blast - you'll know if Archery is something you'd like to take seriously after that! It's also a great sport for the whole family, anyone can be good it at and all the family can shoot together.

        Archery is a form sport - hitting the X is a matter of repetition and having correct form - if you place your hand at a different location on your face (for example) when shooting you change the geometry of the shot and you miss - so if you're going to be serious about it learning proper form from the start is important (to 1. hit X's and 2. not injure yourself).

        NUSensai has a good YouTube channel (focusing heavily on Olympic & traditional style archery, not so much compound) - https://www.youtube.com/user/NUSensei.

    Plus you get $20 off if you spend $50 or more.
    I saw the SIGN UP QR CODE promotion at Tempe location. And have received it myself.

  • I've always seen it at $99 at the Auburn store

  • It’s been $99 for about 3 months. I bought for my kids. Quality sturdy unit, they love it.
