Just released, it's their super small range

  • Can someone please let me know if most sound bars have to connect via optical or can is it HDMI? My tv's optical is already being used for headphones. Thanks

    • Can do HDMI, also wireless if you need

HDMI is the standard these days, its the only way you'll get the best audio quality & surround modes like atmos. Please avoid optical at all costs - its actually an outdated, low quality connection from the 80s. This video explains it well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICcEOXVZ3F0

And definately dont use bluetooth either. HDMI ARC (and eARC) are the best way to connect your sound bar with one cable to your tv.

Plus one remote to control sound. I didn't realise and got a cheaper soundbar and now i have to deal with 3 bloody remotes for audio - TV, Android box and soundbar

      • Thanks heaps mate, I hate optical

      • Thanks heaps mate, I hate optical

      • Cool video. I have a toslink cable going from my TV to amp and HDMI going from my 4K player to TV. Have to say that the surround sound from my 4K player is better than when I am streaming Netflix but I put that down to the compressed data rate from Netflix at about 15 Mps.

It will be a big job replacing the TOSLINK to HDMI. Do you think it would be worth it ?

  • Im looking to get a soundbar to connect with my 55inch Samsung LED tv. Any recommendations?

    • Depends what you want to spend. What is your budget?

      • Under $1000

  • Any drama getting JB to price match? Not going to bother with Officeworks as they probably won't.

    • Officeworks sell soundbars?

Try Sony directly on line and see if they price match. They also include free delivery.

      • Thank you, it got approved. Now I've got to decide if I actually need this.

        • Ha, that I can't help you with.

  • What’s the benefit of dolby atmos?

  • $575 + shipping at Video Pro
If you are in WA, forget it, shipping is $395!

        • +1

          Log into Sony.
          Find item.
          Add item to cart.
You should see on the same page "Request a Price Match".
Enter you details and the link of the competitor.
When they approve the price match (within a few hours), you will get an email.
Go to your cart, it will show the item with the new price.

  • I have one of these, highly recommend

  • Was tempted but Samsung HW-Q70T is a little bit extra and comes with actual upfiring speakers. Might pass on it.

  • Now $549+delivery at Kogan. Try price match at Sony for free delivery and 2% CR cash back.
[Edit] I tested it out, but got this reply from Sony "As it falls under an exclusion of our price match terms and conditions, your request has not been accepted." No idea why, considering that Kogan is selling official stock.

    • i never got the reply from sony

      • That’s weird. My experience some price matches happen within 10 minutes, some 3-4 hours, or next business day. But they always respond. Did you log in and add item to cart before requesting?

  • Just purchased one as I had my Kogan Credit Card credit to use as well.

Reviews look very good https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/sony/ht-g700 and not requiring an additional two rear speakers for a 'surround sound' environment seems to be a very good value proposition!
