Made the mistake once of trying this. Your tastebuds might not recommend even at this price haha

      Yours, or mine?

    • Its that bad?

    • +5

It's super salty but not bad. Still good at $7. Prefer the original duck confit

    • yes,I bought 5 of this last time when it was $7 but only finished 2 ,soo disgusting with the honey orange tea flavor super sweet with the duck ,the original one is highly recommend

I much prefer the raw breasts (when half price as well) and just sear and oven them and do up a really simple orange sauce to drizzle over them.

I prefer the roast duck at the Chinese takeaway places.

      • +4

Yeah, just ~$30 for the entire duck.

        • +1

Less mess, fresh and no washing up!

If you are in Melbourne try Pacific House roast duck. It is absolutely the best roast duck I have ever eaten. They are famous for it.

        Meow! Here kitty, kitty…

My wife made Chinese style duck at home. warning it involves blowing air into the duck before cooking to increase the surface area of the skin. Example https://youtu.be/qzNLAnYUAVw?t=29 I didnt know what to think when I saw my wife do that..

  • Which is something entirely different…..but thanks anyway

I've never tried this flavour and am a bit doubtful it works.

Anyone who loves the duck confit (like me), who has tried this, and can give an opinion on how it compares in yumminess?

    • +1

My response: Yeah nah! Confit legs are a far superior ingredient. The more Luv-a-Duck get creative, the more, I feel, that they diminish their brand.

      KISS principle.

    • +2

It's very sweat and not as good as confit ones, nor the red Curry ones.

      • +5

        dont want sweaty duck

        • +1

now we know where the saltiness comes from!

    • +2

Made the mistake of buying multiples of this thinking it will be as good as confit. Nope. Orange sauce is too sweet and fake.

    • +1

After trying both, I much prefer the confit. The orange sauce is a good attempt but I didn't like the sauce. Meat is still nice but I scrapped the sauce off.

    • +1

I've tried the confit, the L'orange. I really like the confit and will not buy the orange again. It has a really artificial orange sauce with a gluggy consistency. I tried to wash off as much sauce as possible but it still wasn't great IMO. You're better off buying the confit and making your own sauce.

TIP: This thing needs to be warmed up in oven then finished off in pan so you get a bit of caramelisation and the sauce will thicken too. It tasted ok especially at half price.

    Poor (profanity) animals.

    • +1

Stop poor shaming ducks, it’s not their fault they got a bill but have no money to pay for it…

    • +2

Not sure why you got negged. Here's +1

      • -1

people hate themselves for being a party of animal cruelty and murder… but they also hate the idea of denying their taste buds… so they project that hatred outward onto the person that makes them realise that they do in fact hate themselves for it. ;)

  • +1

This is not a duck, this is rosted orange. I'll newer ever buying it again. Terrible test, even if it cost $1, avoid.

    • -3

I’d eat roasted orange over a duck any day.

    • +2

But the oranges never took the test because they weren't rostered on that day.

I shred them to make a damn good nasi goreng. The sauce caramelises and gives more wok hei, the fat really adds amazing flavour and the orange flavour disappears.

Stay safe? What's the danger in getting these duck legs?

    • Catching covid at Coles

      • Hoping the ducks weren't fed bat meat

    wtf is A L'Orange?

What do these taste like compared to something like this recipe?
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15ua-qSqHMg

I used to do that recipe all the time with the plain Luv-a-duck Fresh Duck Breast Fillets but they haven't been half price for many years so I haven't bought them since then.
