Saw at the other post on here for the XSX that someone got the order canceirlled and refunded. Don't want to be a pessimist but not feeling good about this one.

@GallBall2606: The rumour mill is running wild with this one.
The whirlpool guys are saying that it's JB Stock that they are trying to funnel through GG to avoid taking a loss since so many people bought all those discounted JBHiFI Gift cards recently.
Saw some post on a PS5 Tracker facebook group about some delivery guy claiming that they just dropped off 5k units to Sony Australia too (Had screenshots, looked kind of legit)
Just Dunno what to believe anymore or what's BS.
I got in on this Good Guys order within a minute or so if it going live, and between the email not saying that it was an error and the call I got I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
@Stoibs: That's actually good news. I called my local store the one I was assigned to and the lady on the phone said it's not a system error and the orders won't be cancelled. They just don't know when the consoles will arrive at their store so can't give me a timeline.
Another thing worth noticing is that Sony HK will be flooding their market and stores before 15/01/21 so much that all scalpers are starting to cut dow their price by $300-$400 now. A good sign that huge supplies are coming to AU too.
@KLDL: it would be dumb for Sony to flood the market lol that would mean prices will drop. they can gain more profit selling at RRP and create more hype / demand with limited drops. It’s a marketing tactic
@skido: I feel like NOT flooding the market and allowing scalpers to control the stock and charge a massive premium is hurting Sony more. It's hurting their customer base and causing frustration. Yes its scarce, but it doesn't make a damn difference to Sony coz they only sell RRP, its not like Sony has an increased profit margin if they limit supply. Yes it creates hype and demand, but only so much before it pisses people off and negatively affects your brand. Producing enough units at once so that people who want a unit can just walk into their local and pick one up off the shelf would be the right move now.
@Smol Cat: there is a manufacturing supply shortage, so it’s not as easy as “producing enough units at once” now there’s another outbreak of COVID in China and Chinese New Year happening soon so the shortage would probably last until at least March before they can possibly ramp it up

Got the same email, I wasn't even going to be fussed if they just emailed saying it was a glitch and gave me a refund. So a $100 store credit is awesome.

Honestly I think I hit buy out of FOMO, and wasn't really sure they were ever going to come good. $100 credit with no minimum spend is incredible customer service, certainly beats the Liquorland debacle

Still, the email also mentioned being put on a priority list for when stock does show up, so I'm okay with that.
I’ll believe the priority list actually works when I see it but a $100 credit is very generous of them all things considered.

I thought about using the credit for a PS5 controller, but I don't really want to purchase another controller until they release them in black (also, I've got two or more controllers for every console I own, and the second controller rarely ever gets used)… I'd just be wasting the credit if I bought a white one now, because when black becomes available, I will instantly purchasing another 2. I think I've decided to use the $100 credit on a Weber iGrill 2 meat probe thermometer, to use with my Weber Genesis.

I am happy about the credit, and being put on a priority list… I ordered one within the first 15 minutes of this deal being posted, hopefully it's a first come first serve priority list.
I also ordered within 15 minutes. Have asked them to confirm allocation was decided on a first come first served basis but not hopeful anyone will really know.
Just thinking about consumer law. My understanding is that if a company sells you something and they can't supply it then they must provide you with something of equal value or greater.
This happened to me during the Black Friday sales a couple of years ago. I was sold a telly that the company couldn't supply and in the end they gave me a bigger telly as they could supply that.
The only problem with that strategy is they don't have alternate ps5 stock to supply you with.
The PS5 Pro is some years away…..best take the $ now.
Of course you are entitled to something of equal or lesser value, but that is not on top of your refund, so you can choose either, but not both.
Ordered mine immediately within 5 minutes (happened to refresh the gg page a few times after work and it appeared for sale), still got cancelled.
