Nokia Symbian 30 Days of Free Premium Apps (6 so far)

100

Log in to the Ovi Store from your phone and at the top of your home screen you'll see "A special gift from Nokia" "Download Premium Apps" all blue and pretty big. It can also be found in "Collections".

There isn't much info about this freebie but from what I have managed to find, you have 30 days from the first log in download what you want so long as you log in before the end of December.

I can only see 6 apps at the moment (per my screenshot) but I think more are getting added as time progresses.
If not, these are still free so pretty good.

    nokia has an app store?

    • +1

just because you don't use a Nokia phone means you have to try and troll.

      Most smartphone manufactures do.
Like with Android, you're not restricted to just the store with Symbian.

LOL of course Nokia has an app store, for around 7 years now, where do you think Apple "sampled" the idea from?

"I can only see 6 apps"… you hit the nail on the head…

I have a N900 and there aren't many apps for it. I can't wait till my contract finishes so I can get an android. Only 3 more months left!!. Thanks a lot for supporting my phone, Nokia.

I think you might want to direct that towards app developers… Manufactures don't produce many of the apps available. Nokia, Google, Apple, most of the apps don't come from them.

That said, I have an N8 and even I know how you feel regarding app quantity/quality. From my experience, most other Symbian users feel that way too.

        N8 represent

      • I am not going to blame the app developers. If they had a reason to do it, they would. Nokia didn't give them any reason to do it.

        • Nor did Google or Apple.
It just comes down to perception of platform popularity from the app developers. Developers are making enough money off their Android/iOS apps that they don't have the interest, couldn't be bothered, don't know how, don't have the time or don't think it's worth their time to make apps for Symbian. That has nothing to do with Nokia. It's a very ignorant and arrogant view you're sporting there champ.

        • You said it right there - "It just comes down to perception of platform popularity from the app developers" It is Nokia's fault that they didn't push that platform. If no one buys Symbian phones, the developers aren’t going to make apps for it. Whose fault is it that not many people bought a Nokia Symbian phone?

    • you do realise there's a android emulator for N900 right?
actually there's emulators for about 9 platforms for it (i think)….
dont know why u would hate it so much
and yes like the other person said… blame it on app developers not Nokia.

      • Emulator is entirely the wrong word. The N900 boots into Android and runs the complete OS, it doesn't just emulate it. Also boots MeeGo, Ubuntu and Mer (and soon to be WebOS once the boffin's get a better go at it).

        • I didn't know it could do that. Might look into it.

    • You clearly have no idea what your talking about. N900 has far and away the most complete set of tools for me. Perhaps do some research and try using the maemo.org repositories instead of relying on Nokia to hold your hand the whole way?

  • This has been available for my E7 for a couple of weeks. Half of these apps were free anyways, i had already bought Angry Birds as well

  • This isn't showing up for my N97 Mini but can see these are all free via manual checking. ebuddy and nimbuzzz were definitely always free.

    • Yeah its not showing up on my n97 either!!? No message a top of screen, nor in Collections…
maybe the apps are only for newer Nokia models…. :(

    • I believe it's only for Symbian^3, Anna, Belle etc…

    Symbian still exists??

    • I must admit, I swapped from an X6 to a galaxy s at the start of the year. I was a big fan of Symbian s60v3 phones. but this must be the first time i have even seen the word symbian for a while. Totally forgot it even exists. Didn't Nokia swap to meego or something??

      • Yes only the N9 is running MeeGo. Now they are running Windows Phone 7 on their upcoming handsets.

        • They should also stick with meego, it is a good OS.

  • safe to say, Nokia's copy of the super popular Andriod promo?

    • -1

You mean the 10c. apps? I agree.

      • +1

everyone copies each other, it all works out for the consumer.

    • I remember downloading some apps from this promo already a couple of weeks ago.

  • I can't see this on the 5800
