First time posting, so apologies if I've done anything wrong.

Not the most ridiculously incredible deal considering some of the others I've seen on here in the past, but sub-$10 delivered for one of these is a pretty good deal.

They have them in Blue, Red, Hot Pink and Black from what I can see.

The 1990s called (on the landline), they want their torch back.

I remember have a couple of these back then, they were great. Have just put one of the free Olight ones I got from a recent deal on my keyring and so much smaller and brighter than these. Honestly, surprised they are still selling these (or that people are buying them, apart from nostalgic value).

Cant agree more with this, have both and the mag lite is so obsolete not sure why they still sell them

      • Funny you mention nostalgia - I found an old one of mine that was a special gift in the 90's and it wasn't working any more and wanted to replace it like for like. I have 0 doubt that there are much MUCH better torches out there nowadays. :-)

As a torch for a neuro exam, these are great. They're cheap, they can easily attach to my lanyard at work, they won't burn the patients cornea like LED lights plus small & lightweight. Otherwise you're correct - they're absolutely pointless.

These are only about 2 lumens. Basically, it will now be hard to find any lights as dim as these. It is probably good for nostalgic purposes or perhaps as a night light. The output will be similar to 'moonlight' mode on LED torches.

I still have one brand new in sealed package, will probably stay that way unless I come across any hacks to repurpose it. Funny how highly we appreciated the little dim light it provided back in the day .

I used to have a Petzl headtorch (early '90s) that had a halogen bulb. That was about the best you could get without going to ridiculously expensive caving lights with belt mounted batteries. It cost about $100 in today's money. These days you can easily beat it with a $5 LED headtorch from Bunnings.

NitecoreTube or tip still superior keychain light

Remember the "thrill" of replacing the bulb interface with an led interface on my Maglite 2XAA back in the day.
Was a huge upgrade then and beat burning out, losing and breaking the pins on the old bulbs.
That being said the Maglite did me well for many years of bushwalking and other around the house purposes.

  • Are these big enough to hit someone with?

I'm guessing they used the keys for scale, so no.

Wonder if using the torch from your phone is enough.

Good point! The light from our smartphones are way brighter than Maglite
