  • Anyone tried activating this after the expiry date? Mine expiring mid April. Bad timing

    • +2

Kogan vouchers do expire after their expiry date

Source: I tried for a $5 voucher code before. Money wasted.

  • +1

    Just activate early
For a few $ wasted on your expiring plan, not worth stressing for two weeks extra

  • This doesn't seem like that greater…

    checks stock portfolio

I can't emphasize how much everyone should get this amazing deal RIGHT NOW!!!

  • +2

Wouldn't it be better off paying extra for Boost $300 prepaid, (currently $240 with this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/591193) and you get the following:-

    • 300GB data (240GB + 60GB bonus**).
    • 12-month expiry.
    • Unlimited calls & text to standard national numbers.
    • Unlimited international calls & text to 30 selected countries + 3600 standard mins & text to 25 selected countries.
    • Stream Apple Music data free.

**Needs to be activated by 1 Feb 2021 for the extra 60gb.

    • Yep, unless you want voda over Telstra.

    • Definitely sounds like a better deal, getting Telstra network over Vodafone network which in personal experience has better coverage. Boost deal also has some good extras like VOWIFI (voice over wifi) for even when you don't have a phone signal but instead internet.

I'm on this Kogan plan bought when BOGOF both for $265, it has VOWIFI (voice over wifi) too. No International calls included though.
My house & work data speed VF>Telstra>Optus

        • Thats interesting, as the kogan CiS says "The service provided is a Kogan Mobile LARGE – 365 FLEX Plan giving access to Vodafone 3G & 4G coverage
(but does not include VoLTE)" VoLTE = VOWIFI (= WIFI calling), dose the VoLTE come on on your phone, instead of 4G?

          • +2

@Trantor: VoLTE is not the same as voice over wifi. VoLTE is a higher quality voice transmission protocol that can work over 4G data networks. It's better quality than with a 2G or 3G connection. You still need a mobile data connection to use it. Voice VoWIFI just means you could still make "voice" calls without that 4G connection by connecting to a wifi (e.g. in a holiday house) instead.

Never been with Telstra before, but i assume the coverage and signal is better than the rest of the carriers compared to Kogan?

      • Telstra has more coverage

      • +4

its all depends on your location, there is no blanket "one service is better than another" for the most part, as above, I get better signal at home from Vodaphone currently.

      • My Vodafone coverage (northern Melbourne suburbs) has been awesome, whereas Telstra has been worse for congestion on train line to the city - pre-COVID, mind you. However we just came back from a Christmas break in Gippsland and there were large areas with zero Vodafone coverage so I ended up getting a prepaid Telstra card just to cover the holidays.

      • Update - swapped to boost just a few days ago. On kogan i was getting 20-30mb/s and on boost i was at 200mb/s at the same location. Happy with the service and ease of swap so far

        • thats area specific, for me, I get a better signal on Vodaphone than the other two :/

These were 2for1 last week at $265, ie. $132.50 each. This week the price has increased to $225. Not much of a bargain.

  • I got a 365 day prepaid deal with Kogan last year. Terrible decision. Constant outages, reception went from decent to awful halfway through (one 'planned maintenance' later …) but of course you're locked in, which is why they promote these 1yr up front deals - if you experience issues too bad!

Foreign customer service is rude and useless. I called up and complained about the reception turning to shit, got told to wait a couple weeks and call back - so I did. They claimed they'd open up an investigation (weeks later I haven't heard back!) and instead they managed to out a block on incoming calls and texts on my account. By the time I noticed it was halfway through Xmas day. Can't believe it.
