This device is hot wet garbage.

In other news, people are still using Chromebooks

    • Excellent devices for schools.

I guess it depends on whether you see 'paying so one of the world's largest and most insidious companies can harvest your child's information' as excellent.

You choose, Microsoft or Facebook or apple then

          • @Nurcopolics: None of them are advertising companies. MS sells software, Apple both SW and HW. Facebook is totally unrelated here.

      • No Google is my hard requirement for a school. And in life in general

The c340-11 was a good choice a year ago but for cheaper than this… in 2020 I think most people would've recommended the newer Lenovo chromebook duet assuming you can use the convertible tablet form factor and don't need the high resolution display output… let's see what 2021 brings to the value chromebook segment.

  • I've heard Lenovo Chromebooks are just a bit tougher than wet paper. Does this share the same build quality?

  • Sell-er-on .. :-( .. !!

  • I don't get it - you can get a REAL laptop rather than a phone level CPU and OS for the same money.

Why would anyone ever use one of these? Maybe a gift for grandma who isn't good with computers and just wants to Facebook all day?

    • Have you owned a Chromebook before? There’s something refreshingly simple about them for mainstream uses (eg browsing net, using android apps, etc) and they work surprisingly well even with potato specs vs traditional windows laptops in this price segment.

As mentioned before though, when it was $250 I thought it was a bargain but $300 a year later, still decent but not as much of a slam dunk in value proposition.

      • So …. Use a tablet or a phone?

I mean, I'm not sure why people would elect for Android apps over windows ones, but stuff like chrome can't be simpler as is on a windows machine …

        • Hard to explain but after using a chromebook I realised how much I appreciated not having to deal with all the other crap on a Windows machine.

  • is this a good device for mainly browsing and run youtube???

    would it be laggy???

    • Works perfect for those purposes.
