Many PlayStation users considering the PS plus subscription essential.(most games need PS plus to access online features)
So those user say it's "free" as an abbreviation of "right to play the game when you still have an active subscription(which I don't think I'll ever cancel) at no marginal cost".
How on earth is paying a monthly fee free. Wtf ozbargains. You only have access to it IF you paid for that month and you claimed it on that month and the moment the subscription lapses its gone. So how is it CHEAPER if you're paying a monthly fee.

OzB PS+ users like to hoard 24 free games for a year, by buying cheap PS+ sub @ $55/yr. That is $2.30 per game. Smart.

I notice they always give away games that are already heavily discounted and most likely you already owned (looking at you Tomb Rider)

They still pay the developers a fee to make them free to subscribers as far as I know so makes sense not to chose newly released games unless they are developed by Sony or games that have been popular as many people would already have them making it cheaper for them and also gaining more hype as it was popular. Have noticed the heavy discounts on recent additions too which leads me to believe the deals with developers is done months in advance and those sales are a last attempt to get people to buy them before being added.
It's also often soon before a sequel or dlc is added. If thats not the case they'll have micro transactions.

What happens to the previous PS Plus games?
If you've added them to your library, which you can only do if you're subscribed, they will be on your account now "forever". If you unsubscribe you can't play them though.
Awesome lineup of games. Games with gold keeps getting worse and ps plus keeps getting better. Almost bought man eater last month for my ps5, glad I didn’t. Should be good for some dumb fun. And shadow of the tomb raider is an excellent game for anyone who missed it.
And Games Pass Ultimate is daylight ahead.

Only their older games though cos EA know better than to offer new titles on day dot. I highly doubt ubisoft will do the same.
Until Microsoft forces you to pay $15 by not offering the $1 special on your main account. It also constantly annoys you when your Game Pass is about to expire (14 days or less). You get the basic EA subscription (entry level). None of the Forza DLCs is in there. 3rd party games do get removed after a few months.
It's great when it's heavily discounted. However, XB Live Gold is now worse and restrictions start to appear for Game Pass (standard / non Ultimate) - including locking you out of Gears 5 DLC.
You should hand back your OzB account if you're paying full price for GPU.
You'd also have to be very negative to criticise GPU. Nothing comes close.

You want DLC, you buy them, like everywhere else, and they give you the option of a much cheaper package too.
@scuderiarmani: GP is fine and I get the whole point of GPU and if you took advantage of cheap deals. Sure, it is possible to "workaround" the $15. However, Microsoft is slowly shutting down the loopholes.
Also, the discounts… that's part of the problem. If we go full bargain hunting mode, then honestly, the 12 months XBox Live Gold stack to then convert to GPU, mathematically, isn't the most cost effective. Not to mention it is now clear that Microsoft cares more about new subscriptions and will offer less for existing customers in the long run.

If we go the OZB way all the way, yes $1 to play first party title on the month Microsoft releases it makes sense. But, how about the remaining months? How much exactly is a good deal? I used to buy first party exclusives prior to GamePass. So, that means after the intro of GamePass, Microsoft really offered me Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 4 as AAA titles. Gears 5, when I played it, was glitchy and PlayAnywhere didn't work as well as I expected. By the time the bugs are fixed, I've already got tired of the game.

That's the problem. Most OzBers believe that (and I obviously don't feel full price for GPU is worth it). However, if GPU is not worth $15/month, then it cannot possibly be that good. A lot of us are evaluating GPU as a $1/month or $1 for 3 months. Obviously, in such case, it is a no brainer.
Clearly Microsoft knows I have a Series X and obviously Microsoft is not letting me get the $1 deal with my main account. That doesn't feel good.
@netsurfer: The way I see it, I'm paying for Gold anyway. Have since early 360 days when I finally could get ADSL.
2 exclusives annually on launch day are $200 digitally (how I buy all my games). Though I generally wait for the next big sale till I buy games digitally….. So getting em day 1 is huge.
So permanently being on GPU is cost effective.
Regardless I use Rewards to consistently top up, I did the initial 3 year as well.
Added bonus is all the other extra stuff…. And I now find myself buying less games.

@blergmonkeys: Mate, if I really care about the Hivebuster DLC, I would have got GPU (since it is $1 for 3 months - and you can hack around it). The fact that I haven't got GPU means I don't care. Likewise for all the Forza Horizon 4 DLCs: Fortune Island and Lego.
It is more about the tier system. This is more about what could happen later on. I am cynical about the degree of Bethesda games will be included. There was already a hint of a tier system later on. The big question is will Microsoft still offer $1/month when one of those new first party titles get released? Honestly, if Microsoft shuts that down later on, I do wonder how many people will pay $15/month.
I have a Series X and it is certainly interesting Microsoft won't offer me any discount on my main account. Frankly, if that's the case, I am quite reluctant to join GPU right now given there isn't any new first party exclusive right now. The most annoying part is that there is zero consistency on whether you get the discount or not.
@netsurfer: My GPU is due to expire on 27th, thats after 2 yrs of stacking for $1. I havent looked very hard, but cd key sites arent offering GPU cheaply (for instance its $52.29 for 3 months of World Wide Here https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/memberships), plus its now region restricted AFAIA. EB games were selling 3 months for $33, marked down from $47.95, but thats ended now. As i couldnt find a better deal at the time and my sister had gifted me $50 in EB games credit for christmas i bought 6 months worth.
But yes it was due to renew at $15 a month. I must be unaware of the hacks around in, but i could pick up 3 month of GP (not U) with MS points.
Yeh I have ultimate too for my series x and it’s crazy good value. But at the same time my series x has honestly sat their mostly unused so far meanwhile my ps5 is being played every day. Not trying to start any fanboy arguments as i own all consoles, just a genuine comment on my usage.

All the Tomb Raider games are great fun.. you can get them quiet cheap when it's on special. I think the first one is on PSN for about 4$ now.

Incorrect, PS5 Games that are "free" for the month via PS Plus can be redeemed on your account via the website the same way you can with PS4 games. Easiest way to find out is going to be to try OP, just go to the store page, log in, and try adding them to your account while they are free, if you are waiting to reup your psplus subscription and you miss out because you were unsure then that is on you.

Apparently, on several news reports, Sony PS + will be crediting retail purchases of Maneater with PS store credits through the PS Store site.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the best of the 3 Raiders
I beat it and can't remember anything at all. Game is not very memorable haha
I enjoyed it a lot. The gun play was mediocre but everything else was good. Graphics were particularly impressive. I didn't enjoy the 2nd Tomb Raider but 1st and 3rd are very good.

Not sure if they patched it, but Shadow of the Tomb Raider had serious issues mid-way through my playthrough on the PS5.
It'd load into my save, let me walk around for a couple of seconds, and swiftly boot me out.
