FYI - I have one - GREAT watch one of the best out there BUT

    1. Less than a year later the battery life does not get me through the day.
    2. I have to spin the charger pad around quite a bit to make it charge.

I'm hoping one day there will be a perfect WearOS watch. Unfortunately this is not it :( for me at least.

Yeah just to add to that, mines actually in the shop right now… think the battery might have died or something as the watch doesn't turn on anymore.

Another issue you'll find that seems common is the crown gets stuck or very difficult to use quite frequently. Overall the watch looks great and when it works, it's brilliant but there are some issues with it.

I spray some electrical spray and push the crown in and out to work some in. Keeps it great

Thanks for the advice! I got a warranty refund for my gen 4 due to the sticky crown issue.

Have the gen 4 watch. Great watch. Have to spin the charger also to charge it up. Looks the same

  • Got one as a Christmas present. Lots of complaints about Wear OS but I quite like it? Maybe the latest update is better?

Some tips for anyone who gets it.

    1) Turn off "Hey Google" voice activation
    2) Turn off tilt to wake
    3) Turn off Wifi (it will still communicate over Bluetooth)

These will drastically improve responsiveness, and also increase battery life.

    • Yep - all this works no doubt.
As does not installing and using Google Maps or Google Fit (both chew battery pretty good)

      BUT

My only thing is why buy a smart watch if all the features that make it smart have to be turned off to make the battery last?

Also it used to last before I had to charge it at night. Now 10 months later it's dead by 11am if I've had Google Fit on for an hour or two.

I'm amazed how I can for example listen to Jabra Active 75t earbuds for literally 4+ hours (never had to go beyond that but sure it would too) at full volume with ANC thinking about how tiny those things are (and thus tiny batteries) yet a device that for most of the day (except perhaps maybe an hour or two) really just shows the time can be dead in 4 hours if I actually use the smart features.

If a device can't last a day (charge to charge) then I really don't think it's a good device. Also seeing as this has gradually gotten to this point I have to question the quality/longevity of the battery. I expect a Lithium Ion battery to last 18 months at least.

Anyway not trying to detract from your point, you are absolutely correct I'm just grumpy that if I buy a fancy car, I don't get to use the headlights or wipers.

      :)

Google Fit on Wear OS is pretty dumb right now. The reason it chews battery like nobody's business is because it engages the GPS chip on the watch if it can't receive a GPS signal from your phone. So my tip is to take your phone with you when you go for a run, then Google Fit is fairly fine to use. It will still chew battery while actively tracking your fit workout however, just nowhere near as fast as if it's using GPS as well.
