  • Great watch!

  • Great watch and great price. I bought mine about half a year ago paying about $100 more.

    • Same, great watch but the heart beat sensor at the back tends to crack easily. So keep your receipts.

  • +2

The Tri bundle is only $385 - exactly the same watch but comes with two heart rate straps included. Absolutely worth the extra 16 dollars - in fact, buying this bundle and flipping the watch is probably the cheapest way to get those heart rate straps!

The HRM-TRI is designed for running, cycling & openwater swimming (+ any other sport you can think of, pretty much). The HRM-SWIM is stickier & has a wider band, because most heart rate straps fall off when pool swimming when you dive in or push off the wall quickly. Both straps are designed to work with Garmin's watches to allow heart rate data to be recorded underwater, unlike most traditional chest straps which cannot due to the water blocking the ANT+ communications. I can't remember exactly how it works, but I think there's a small amount of storage inside the chest strap which records the HR data until it can connect to the watch & transfer it.

    • But the deal with the HR bands is only in yellow?

  • The Fenix 5 is on sale for $380 also. Which is better the 935 of F5 for the very similar price. From what I can tell, they have very similar functionality and screens etc. but the F5 has a steel case which is both a positive and negative.

    • I think the Fenix 5 may have had issues with GPS because of the metal bezel, but that could maybe have been fixed in later versions. Other than that the Fenix 5's better water resistance, they are pretty much line ball with each other.

  • i picked up the Garmin 235 Tri Bundle as soon as I realised that the watch comes with lots of accessories and black bands as well. Seems a no brainer for $385 to replace my old Garmin 910XT. Thanks to Op and shaolinbear.
