    Great for breaking friendships

    • Not as much as Monopoly..

  • +7

Just a heads up, some people get VERY upset when they don't win this game. Other than that it's great fun (if you win).

    • Death to wood hogs

    • If you're getting into heated arguments over Eurogames you're doing something wrong. The entire premise of Eurogames is emphasising cooperation, de-emphasising direct player competition and having no real ability to eliminate other players from the game.

It's hardly like Monopoly where it incentivises players to actively undermine each other.

You keep using this word cooperation. I do not think it means what you think it means.

What are you on about? I said the word once.

Eurogames ARE about cooperation and social play, that's the biggest distinguishing feature of that genre of boardgame compared to American-style games boardgames. That and the removal of random chance/luck or strongly de-emphasising randomness as an advancement mechanic.

Hope you're getting a dictionary for Christmas.

      • +1

That may be true for some Euros, sure. Less so for Settlers specifically.

        • Yep you can block players by building where they want to build, or refuse to trade with them.

  • Have to agree with all the comments here. Or family had to stop playing this game because it always ended in tears. Great game though.

Tempted but when it is priced well (too well), there is a big chance that it is fake stock, even if it sold by Amazon AU. Read the reviews, it seems to be a common occurrence for Amazon marketplaces all over the world

    • +1

How can you know if it was fake?

  • How long does a typical game take?

    • 1-2.5 hours, depending on level of experience.

You can play online at colonist.io to try it out.

According to the amazon reviews, this might be a fake copy and suffering from poor quality defects.
    Purchase with caution.

    • Keep in mind that the reviews are based on the product listing for all sellers, not just Amazon AU. Including reviews for Amazon UK.

  • Great game, if you are on the fence, buy it.

  • If its a fake you're better off getting it off ebay for $30~

  • Is the price now $49? Or am I missing something?

    • Yeah now $49, looks like it has expired.

  • Anyone else received theirs yet? I don't think it's fake but the cardboard is very poorly punched, I've had to use a hobby knife to stop it from tearing.
    Anyone else had this experience?
