Q1200 with thermometer = way better and similarly priced. Taller lid so it'll fit two chickens side by side, and a thermo is always useful.

    • I've got a 2000,but wouldn't mind a baby q for camping / cooking for only 2 people at home. Smaller the better.

Mitre 10 has them for $299

    • If still on sale Saturday & stores are open could combine with zip pay $30 rebate deal for $300 spend

I'd wait for the 20% off sale that BCF usually have.

Then cash in those flybuys points for BCF gift cards and get yourself a free BBQ.

The Family Q is the one you want. Yes, the one with the stand.

Weber should have stock again of the 1200s.
2200s sold out but some red available at some stores.
3600 in stock in red and titanium.

Weber is completely sold out of most things. however, they've now sold out of carts unless you live in TAS.
So if you want a cart you're going to have to try Good guys or BCF, alternatively go the 3600.

Genesis completely sold out too - mid Jan expected.

  • Love our baby q had it for years and years, got the bag to take it anywhere, Max 1.75 kg roast though (recommended) so will have a look at the 1200 if/when I need to upgrade.

What makes Weber so good compare to other brand? I personally prefer charcoal BBQ over gas and I believe Weber only available in gas version is that right? Genuine question.

    • Following this thread, interested to know about this too

Main thing is they last forever, gas ones are made of aluminium, charcoal enamelled steel and can last at least 5-10 years easily for both charcoal and gas with minimal care or maintenence.

They are the Apple of BBQ's though, good at what they do, quality is good but don't expect it to do everything. Weber Q's are hood down only for cooking, no open hood cooking e.g turning sausages as cooking, its more of an oven really

        Charcoal wise they'll flawless though

No in the US almost household has a Weber charcoal kettle BBQ grill. They are ubiquitous.

You cook with the lid down. The convection current of smoke kisses the food on the way out of the lower side vents. This simple fact means you win on average; not quite as good as charcoal flavouring but almost there, infinitely easier to use on a daily basis.

And why the baby over the bigger brothers? Faster heat up time, more frugal gas usage. For a family under 4, my 1200 can cook weekly for an entire year on one 9.5kg bottle of gas.

Weber has been around for ages.. I believe a picture says 1000 words.

I bet that BBQ pictured still works to this day!
That's what makes Weber so good, they've been around since 1952 and many models as old as 1960s are still around to this day.

  • BCF'ing fun

These BBQs some people prefer, because they don't like to clean a bbq. So they buy them, use them for the summer and come Australia Day they throw them in hard rubbish.

Spare parts are non-existent, the quality is terrible and won't last, you won't find enameled cast-iron grills or even a stainless steel burner in one of these. You'll also see that the cabinet is powder coated and not enameled or stainless steel.

but great for a single summer use.
