Asus Zephyrus G14 Gaming Laptop (Ryzen 7 4800HS, GTX 1650 Ti, 14" FHD) $1669 Delivered @ Centre Com

140

First time poster so hopefully no one give me too hard of a time if these don't turn out to be deals.

News about the 2060 variant was already posted here recently but Centre Com now has discounts for other variants as well. For the lowest spec version they have with the 1650ti, 4800HS and a FHD display, it'll come down to $1669 which is the lowest I've seen thus far for both refurbs and unopened copies. The cheapest one I had seen before this was being sold by Harvey Norman for roughly $1700 and that was with the 4600H. Interestingly, the lower spec g14s e.g. 1660ti and 1650ti all have 120 Hz displays while the top spec version with the RTX 2060 is only rocking 60 Hz. None of them seem to have the animematrix except for the 2060 variant so you're going to need to pay a couple hundred extra if you want Ricardo Milos dancing in the background while you work/game.

    Lolwut

  • $1769 for a 1650ti is a sin. What a load of junk. I'd grab a metabox anyday!
    $1999 will have you a 2060 series with an intel i7 0875H 8-Core = https://www.metabox.com.au/store/b308/Metabox-Prime-S-PC50DD…

Some people prefer not having a brick of a laptop. I mean if that fancies you then sure, great value link you've provided.

    • Plus with your metabox atleast spec the SSD etc to the same and you end up at over $2400 and then you may as well get the 2060 in the g14 from Amazon.. thin and light with the same performance if not better and the same price.

    • Don't forget to add Windows for $160, this one comes with it

you just offended half billion MacBook user…………..

Pretty good for a thin and light gaming machine.

  • Why does it say "up to 120Hz" and not 120Hz?

    • +2

Because you don't neccessarily always want or can achieve 120Hz.

    • You might want to set your display to 60 Hz to extend battery life if you're not gaming.

  • Dw i got 2060 version two days ago lol

I would go for the 2060 in a heartbeat if money wasn't an issue. Unfortunately…

      • But is 60Hz an issue?

You can still get an Acer Nitro at HN w/1650 ti for under a K. Is the Ryzen processor & extra 8gb ram worth $700 more? https://www.harveynorman.com.au/acer-nitro-5-15-6-inch-i5-10…

    • Not sure if the acer laptop you linked is 4gb soldered + 4gb unsoldered or 8 soldered but an 8 gb ram stick isn't that expensive. Alot of the hype with ryzen processors outside of power efficiency was pricing i.e. ryzen laptops costing less than intel laptops so if anything, a g14 with an intel CPU would cost more. I'm assuming the premium asus is charging is a combination of build quality, form factor and battery life. I don't own either so it's hard to say.

      • Ive got no clue about laptops, really. But that seemed to good to resist for a sub $1500 basic gamer. Keeping my fingers crossed.

        • Yeah I'm pretty clueless as well but I think it all comes down to preference. I'm assuming by basic gamer you mean games more in the line of esports titles s there's really no need to pay a premium for better specs if you don't need it. Stuff like durability, battery and weight also don't really matter if you're using it as a desktop replacement.

The G14 has an AMD Ryzen 8 core processor that is a lot faster than the Intel quad core i5 in the Nitro. It's one of the fastest laptop processors you can get at the moment You can also get 8 to 10 hours of usage for work and play with a G14. You have no chance of getting that sort of battery efficiency out if the Nitro. Build quality of the G14 is also a step up. The reason why the Nitro is now cheap is because nobody was buying it at RRP, because its a pretty average laptop.

      • Yeah fair enough. Im only after basic gaming. How much impact does the better processor have in terms of gaming with the same GPU?

  • Makes sense the prices are starting to drop. Since they dropped in the USA last week or so, was on the news.

Best Buy has killer deals on these. Sadly shipping + GST etc eats up most of it.

    • My condolences…

    • $100 cashback on offer. Scroll down a bit

  • Really wish they would make a variant in Aus with the 2060 and 120hz screen :(

    • Look at ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 15.6" 240Hz R9 4900H 2060 MaxQ" model - GA502IV-AZ035T
