$273 is actually a very good deal.

Pocket 1 is still very good. Quality is still on par with Pocket 2.

    Main differences.

Pocket 2 has wider fov. You can buy a wide view lens for Pocket 1 to try get similar effect.

Pocket 2 has a do it all handle, which the Pocket 1 doesn't have. You can use it to livestream, which Pocket 1 cannot do.

If you're after a quality gimbal camera with excellent low light recording, don't need streaming, and don't mind narrower fov, then Pocket 1 is a good choice.

Here's a recording I did with the Pocket 1 just a few weeks ago to give an example of the quality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PplV_SRiAZ8

I thought it would stop the up/down movement of you walking. But video is really clear and sharp.

Where is that place, looks really nice.

Tidal river at Wilson's prom. Good camping site next to that river. Highly recommended. :)

        • Thank you.

      • Doesn't exactly stop it but it also depends on how you walk. You can do the "gimbal ninja walk" to minimise the up/down.

Wilson's Prom in Victoria. Best place in Victoria. A must visit :-)

        • Thanks. Haven't been there since I was a little kid a long time ago.

Thanks for the demo vid, quite helpful, thanks mate.

  • Isn't this better than Go Pro for an average person just want some decent footage while on holidays?

I mean it has build in stick and camera

GoPro is an action camera while Osmo Pocket isn't. So you miss out on waterproofing and GoPro is significantly more resilient to drops and damage (important for a holiday camera). The digital hypersmooth stabilisation in the GoPro 8/9 is IMO better than the actual gimbal in the Osmo Pocket. GoPro also has a much wider FoV but also allows you to crop in without loss in image quality.

GoPro has a fixed infinity focus lens where everything is in focus. Osmo Pocket can pull focus which looks nicer, but can also cause headaches if what you thought was in focus, wasn't. Although with firmware updates DJI Osmo Pocket doesn't really have focus problems anymore.

GoPro also allows you to use the camera without giving all your personal details to DJI/CCP just to record footage.

The Osmo records some really nice looking footage, but so do modern mobile phones.

BREAKING NEWS: DJI just got added to the USA blacklist of Chinese companies as of a few hours ago. Expect to see DJI stock be flogged off in the next few weeks. I would not purchase the camera now knowing it may not be able to be activated.

      • Watch, AUS then will follow suit

    • Completely agree.

  • What are your experiences with Banggood?
Did you have to pay any customs or duties fee on.top?
How long did delivery take after order?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Wow!

    Just to answer some questions:

I bought it on 27/12, shipped on 28/12, arrived 8/1 - thats pretty fast!

I found out that it has different prices on desktop and mobile - mainly on desktop added import tax, didn't on mobile. Postage was different too.

I've ordered with Banggood before and usually takes forever, something like delivery between "one day" and "eventually", but this was fast for some $5.

Chinese stock (obviously), however no problem putting it into English and activating it. Yet to purchase Osmo Shield but it was offered.
