Why stop there, go 1/5th if you have 4 mates. $1 each, the original signer free ;-)

Still making the most of the free 6 month trial https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/581254

Honestly not convinced, yes it sounds incredible on my sound system, but just nuances in the interface and lack of custom playlists etc that spotify has means i'll be switching back to spotify.

I feel it's a good investment if you listen to a lot of hip hop/rnb/rock/70's/80's music that they've mastered.

    • Im in the same boat and have gone back to Spotify even with heaps of Tidal trial left.

The biggest thing for me is the lack of device control, I like to leave my phone locked/charging etc and I just use the desktop Spotify client to play/pause/change tracks etc.

    • I'm enjoying the tidal trial but you are right. I have more choice on Spotify and the interface is much better. Hope Spotify will come up with a lossless option

      hip hop/rnb

Just the kind of genres that needs lossless quality. Maybe you'll hear someone getting murdered in the recording booth?

I love it. Much better than Spotify.

  • I'm on the $4 three month trial right now. Can hear a difference when direct A/B comparing to Spotify Premium, but honestly you have to be listening carefully to appreciate the difference. I have Spotify Family for 3 users, it's double price to upgrade Tidal family once trial ends, bit of a stretch IMO…

Also I prefer the Spotify preset and algorithm based playlists.

take care with this company. In particular, be sure to screenshot all of your website interactions when cancelling… otherwise you may find that they keep billing you on the quiet and then refuse to refund you after you finally catch on (yes, yes, you should check your statements without fail every month…. but I'd argue that companies like this should play it straight). My own experience with their customer (dis)service was a shocker.

If you use paypal you can un-link Tidal from the paypal account as well I think.

      • Exactly what I have done.

        • did unlink after you signed up and paid or did you wait a while?

Good reminder. I did not have issue at the end of my last trial but to be sure, I used a credit card that was going to expire within that time. Or use a prepaid VISA card.

    • I remember when they necro'd inactive accounts and started charging them again lol.

    • Yes please be careful, I recommend paying with a top-uppable or prepaid card as they are notorious for charging even after you cancel and goodluck getting that money back. Only real reason to continue after free trial would be if you spend a lot of time listening to music on extremely high quality gear IMO otherwise Spotify/YouTube Music/Apple music is a much better value proposition I think.

      • I like their 360 Reality Audio tracks (listened on the Sony XM4). I think only Tidal and Deezer support this at the moment. Not a must have (only a handful of albums available) but worth listening to at least once if you have headphones that support it like the Sony XM3/4.

        • Tried it today
          Bit gimmicky
Cool though in the case of concerts

          • @Drakesy: True, amazing to heard sounds seemingly coming from different directions at first. After hearing the same albums a couple of times (there were not many), it's meh.
