Is There Any Regular Time Tyre Sales Are on

I'll need some new tyres soon and wonder how long I should wait to see what the best offers are. I notice tyre shops often having buy 3 get 1 free tyre sale. Does anybody know when these sorts of sales usually come around?

Yeah Bridgestone buy 3 get the 4th free seems to be once every couple of months.

usually one day after u get it replaced

  • Have a look here:

I just had a quick look and kmart will cost $676, beaurepairs $585 and on this tyroola I can get an unknown brand for $471 fitted. Might be worth having a play and getting the right mix of tyre and fitter to catch a bargain.

Many are free delivery to metro areas and some straight to fitter.

      unknown brand for $471

Never cheap out on what lives between you and the earth… Mattress, shoes, tyres. Some things are worth paying a little more for a lot more longevity & safety.

      • Agreed. I was just giving a bit of research findings. I'm going to steal that quote btw.

  • Most of the time atleast one of the major tyre chain will have a buy 3 get 1 free sale at any given time. A fair few independent mobs do buy 3 get 1 free sales as well, so worth calling them as well.

If you got a bit of time, call a few tyre shops around your area and get prices on 2 or 3 different type of tyres.

In many cases, it actually more expensive to order tyres online, then it is to go to an actual shop. Especially if it a common size tyre (i.e. 215/60R16). While the price might look good to start off with, most of the time it does not include shipping, fitting and disposal. When you actually calculate those figures, it just cheaper to go to tyre shop than to do it online. Although this largely depends on the size of tyre your buying.

Avoid any no name rubbish. However, if you do plan to buy some tyres on the cheaper end, do some research on the brand and model before pulling the trigger. Some cheaper tyres can be ok, while others can be fatal.

  • I am planning to get quality tyres and get them direct from a shop. Just waiting until the right time to get them.

    • What type of car do you have? And what size are they? Should be like 215/60R16 or 225/65R17

  • The website www.tyresales.com.au seems quite handy - of course it can't tell you when a particular tyre company is going to have a buy 3 get 1 free sale, but it does look like a good way to compare options for various brands.

My recent experience… I needed new tyres (wanted Michelin and a specific type) and did all the searching for retailers and offers here on ozb. I got quotes from several sellers and the price ranged from the highest $329 ea at Kmart and downward from there. There were several "specials" that were not real specials, as usual. I finally found them at $255 fitted and balanced at my local Tyreright store.
I was suspicious at first but they were the exact tyres other retailers had been asking top price for. They were not old stock either having a manufacture date of 3 months earlier. Shop around, even go and ask your local tyre shop. If you know what you want and the price you are happy to pay make the offer to them. Nothing lost.
4 for 3 specials can be a trap as they are usually priced at max rrp to cover the cost of the so called "free" tyre. The total price is usually the same when those offers are not happening.

This was one of the hottest tyre deals in recent times…

    • that was a great deal but some stuff was quite hard to find - maybe the deal was a little too popular…
