[PS4, XB1, PC] Cyberpunk 2077 $58 @ Harvey Norman

1565

Saw an ad from Harvey Norman that shows this price. Good for those that missed out on the Latitude Pay deal as it makes it around the same price. XB1/PS4 version has free upgrade to the PS5/XSX/XSS. Hopefully they can sort out the bugs and glitches if you want to add this to your pile of shame and play it later.

Here's the ad
Note: Currently the site is not updated with the pricing.

Mod: Printing error, some users were able to have the deal honoured in store regardless. See discussion.

        • ha! imagine they released this thing when they were meant to earlier this year… if this is the "ironed out" version of the game… what a mess

  • I pre ordered from Amazon (du Thursday - dont get me started on how late they are). Anyone know if they will price match if I contact support?

    • When it arrives don't accept delivery and return to sender and ask for refund.

I'm at ~20 hours on PC (Ryzen 3700/RTX 2070 Super) and it works great at high/ultra settings (RTX OFF). I've seen a few physics related craziness, like cars clipping through floors or other cars, and I've seen some FPS drops in random places but overall I think it's a great game

That said, this is not a good game on last-gen consoles. It's bad watching my g/f get crashes and really low framerate drops. It works a bit better on PS4 Pro, but even then the console sounds like it's going to take off.

Be a patient gamer on this one if you don't have a high-end PC, it will be fixed, but buy this game when it's <$40 in 6 months

    • +3

Game runs great for me (Ryzen 3600X/RTX 3070) some glitches but nothing too Bethesda. Day one was 1.03 now 1.04, runs great. DLSS @4K runs really smooth of medium settings

Anyone with a Ryzen system need a slight fix to get it running really good

    • Had to refund my PC copy. Have died multiple times walking down stair cases. No reason I can think of, just die whilst walking. On top of that I have this bizarre high pitched static whine occurring that just gives me a headache. Gonna wait a few months I reckon.

      • Refund via steam?

        • +4

Did it through GOG (where I bought it). Was quick and completely painless- can't complain about the customer support at all.

      • Yeah I've had all of those issues as well as many more in the 12 hours I've played. It's a messy game and it's nothing special event even they do manage to fix the problems. I'm running on a 5800x/rtx3080/32gbcl16 system that is quite a beast and it's around 45fps with all settings at max 5120x1440 which is ridiculous for the grunt my rig has.

        • Yeah I'm running a 3700x/2080s/64gb machine, on a UW monitor. So there shouldn't be any reason for mine to be having problems from a hardware perspective. The biggest problem to me is the weird whine though. I could probably get over everything else, but not that,

    • Does it look good though?

It looks terrible on my 980ti. I only paid $36 for the game and am still a bit bummed how grainy everything looks.

      • +3

It looks amazing! Turn off some of the crappy filters (Chromatic Aberration, Film Grain and Motion Blur) and it's a stunningly beautiful world.

        • Theres a lot of bland in it, sure you can find a nice spot to take a picture but the world itself reminds me of Watch Dog Legions. Shallow and not the living breathing world we were being peddled.

    • Cool… I've got a similar build (Ryzen R7 3700X, RTX2070 Super, 16Gb 3200MHz RAM) and was hoping to run a 1440p monitor at High with maybe a little bit of Ray Tracing enabled (& DLSS Balanced).

Does turning on RTX cause serious FPS drops for you?

      • +1

it absolutely will .. you cannot play this game with RT on and no DLSS on any card south of the 3090 even on that it's not amazing, have a look at the reviews from Hardware unboxed (RT and DLSS video) and gamers nexus on what settings work..

      • +1

I couldn't even tell the difference between high RTX and turning it off, except the framerate drop.

      • Thanks for sharing!

Coming from a fellow PC user, this comment reeks of ignorance and elitism.

The developers chose to release on XB1 and PS4, so why should people not get what they paid for?

        • +2

It’s not a “watered down experience” mate. The frame rate, pop-ins and crashes are making it borderline unplayable.

“But too bad because you chose not to invest in a beefy PC build”.

          Give me a break.

    • +2

      That’s a little harsh.
Some people prefer consoles and the next gen kit is pretty good bang for buck right now as they just came out.

Speaking of PC I’m still waiting to get my hands on a anything >= either a 6800XT/3080 and 5900XT… so easier said than done.

    • +3

Your comment smacks of ‘PC master race’ elitism

It’s the same reason PC players all cracked it when their port of Batman Arkham City was broken

I think Fester Shinetop was right to throw you into the sea

    • +1

like it's bug free on PC? i play games on PC and Console, some may not have the ability to have a gaming pc just laptops for work/school and a console … also why the heck would CDPR ignore a player base of 100's of millions ?? maybe it should have only been for new gen consoles and newer PC's but what business will ignore the console base? … PS4 alone has sold close to 20 mil units per year over last 6 years (14mil last year due to ps5 announcement) … you'd have be a frikin fool not to try and get into that market, hopefully patches will fix it for those with older consoles.

pretty lame to play the PCMR card …

    • +3

The PC version is a buggy mess as well. I had to refund mine. Stop being a potato

    • +2

Bro… 3080’s are struggling to run this consistently in its current state. People like you give the PC gaming community a bad name.

    • Not everyone has $1.5k+ to afford something like an RTX 3080 which is even struggling to run the game at the highest potential. Plus the game was developed with the PS4 and Xbox One in mind, so it's not the fault of the consumer for having the hardware that the game was planned to be developed for.

  • +5

Playing this on PS5 and it's terrible. Full of bugs so don't want to continue.

    I'll wait for the patch.

    • +3

Yes! I’m playing on PS5 too and it’s full off bugs - but more annoyingly, the game will crash randomly every hour or so - sometimes wiping 10+ mins of progress depending on when it last auto saved.

      • I haven't even gotten that far in the game for it to crash yet, still in the second hour of the game. The NPC lips not moving when they speak was enough for me to not bother.

Do we have any news on the PS5 patch?

      • +1

I find quick saving to be almost essential (Options>Triangle) due to the constant crashing on even my PS5. Can't imagine what the PS4 guys are going through, especially those on the base console.

  • Got this through eb games trade in deal. Anyone know how they will process the refund if I return it?

    • Keen to know this too.

      • My guess would be a store credit ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • +2

Yeah they will. I've done it a couple times before.

      Multiple options.
      - Get it back in store credit.
      - Get your games back + cash for what you paid.
      - Go straight to an equivalent priced games. (If you do this option then return this new game, you can get the whole thing back in cash, as it wipes the original trade in value from the system).

      • Oh gosh, hope I can return this and get Hitman III instead.

        • +2

You will be able to, no problems.

          • +1

@ONEMariachi: And then I can re-buy cyberpunk and effectively pay $58 for Hitman!

            Now that's a deal!

      • Keen to know how the 3rd option work?
I’ve paid $37 odd for CP2077 in total (including buying and immediately trading in 2 other games on a single receipt). Would they still let me swap for equivalent priced stuff (currently $109 on their system)?

        • I've done it twice before and it has worked no problems for me.

      • Let me get this straight. So I could return this and get another game priced at $109.95 and return this other game to get $109.95 in cash?

        • I've done it twice before. I'm not going to say it will work 100%, but I have had a 100% strike rate with it.

    • returning mine today

    • -3

I dunno why don’t you ask eb then you’ll know? Lol

      • And EB games would tell me what ONEMariachi told people? Use your brain.

        • -2

Use my brain? You’re the person on here asking when you could just ask the store you bought it from or you know, use your own brain and read the refund policy lol.

  • +1

I am about halfway in and am yet to have one serious issue, playing on series X though. Game was meh at first but all of a sudden the story became captivating at the end of the prologue.

  • Is the game that good. Compared to something like GTA V?

    • +12

Nope. While the open world looks amazing, it's a case of mile-wide, inch-deep. There aren't that many side activities you can do, there are no police chases, pedestrian and traffic AI is almost non-existent, police instantly spawn behind you when you commit a crime no matter where you are but then forget about you if you run a block away, etc, etc. Play something like RDR2 if you want an open world with more depth.
I think they spent the most time on the campaign as that itself is fairly polished.

      • +1

it's a case of mile-wide, inch-deep. There aren't that many side activities you can do

This is the only thing I disagree with here after playing for 20 hours. I look at my map and it's FULL of things to do I'm actually really overwhelmed and keep finding more and more interest in the depth of the game

        • +2

All npcs ive talked to so far just tell me to bugger off

          • @belongsinforums: If a stranger came up to you and started up a conversation, you'd do the same thing :P

Talking to random NPCs doesn't give you side quests, you get then through the phone and messages, and by finding specific NPCs in the world

            • +2

@Zythyx: It's not like other open world games im used to where you get a bit of background info on the world by talking to npcs

              • @belongsinforums: Yeah, a lot of the dialog and background info comes from the blue options when talking to characters. Yellow text options tend to progress story while blue text options lets you get a bit more immersed.
Then there's the data logs scattered everywhere that do provide world information. I started reading these, but there are soooo many…

        • +3

Fair point, I meant more like stuff that doesn't involve shooting/killing i.e. playing arcade machines, sports activities, even a simple card game like Gwent.

          • @Vavoom: The Yakuza games do the side activities so well I wish more open world games would do something similar.

      • RDR2 was the most BORING game ive played , this is 100 times better
        and better then GTA
        to me anyway

        • iAgree. RDR2 was just a western GTA. I got bored real quick with the side quests, so I finished the main story and sold off that game.

I'm playing Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS5 and it runs fine (I played the game after installing the 45gb Day 2 update). Haven't encountered any bugs yet but the game did crash every few hours (thank god for autosaves and quicksaves). After playing for about 40 hours now, i'm still loving the game (soooo much more than RDR2). But I have to agree with the comment that the main story missions are much more polished than the side quests.

    • +8

I would compare it to Far Cry New Dawn. It's an "open world" in the sense you can run and move around freely most of the time, however, it has no where near the complexity of GTA. For a start you can't get a haircut, you can't buy street food, you can't customise your car, cannot buy new apartments, can't get tattoos, you can't buy new clothes (however you find them in the world but you will run a stupid combo to keep your armor as high as possible etc. Encounters with enemies are like an RPG where you try and use the strongest gun and headshot them because they're bullet sponges with levels. Even random interactions with strangers on the street is inferior to GTA. You can literally point a gun at someone and sometimes they won't react if you shoot at them, or will just crouch down and say "Please don't hurt me". In GTA, people start running, or apologise to you, or put their hands up and say something, that makes the interaction feel more real or immersive.

The world feels empty too in Cyberpunk, like there's people in a crowd but they either do something stupid that break the immersion of they just don't feel like an NPC thats around the quality of GTA. Good example is, if you stare at people walking up stairs, they will walk down the stairs, then loop back up, then back down, infinitely and then they despawn. The AI for cars is also dumb, walk in front of a car, it will just run you over, won't try and stop. If you block a car's path with another car, they will just stop and beep their horn but they won't try and go around or get fed up and then ram you like GTA does.

I'd say the game is like a 6/10. The story is what really shines here, the writing is quite good, but there's no sort of "choose your own path" essentially the story is all mapped out and you make some small choices that won't really affect the outcome. Good example is you pick a faction or origin at the beginning but you basically all have the same sort of outcome after 20 minutes of gameplay where the story links up the same from then on. Then you also have like some small choices in missions but nothing crazy. A good example is you go to a bar on a date basically and you get to choose whether you talk with a dude or a chick, a choice, but has no affect on the story. It's those kinds of choices you get. There are a few missions with some bigger choices like how to sneak into an area or maybe you make a choice that makes a character help you rather than attack you. But nothing major. You can't really "save" a character or make a massive choice that majorly changes the story. You can make some small choices, but effectively the narrative is already spun for you.

Thats why I say it's like Far Cry New Dawn, it's basically that style of game and gameplay, except instead of a post apocalypse setting with flowers everywhere, you're in a cyberpunk city that looks good but has no substance.

      • +2

You can buy food and clothes(although can't see exactly what they look like on your character before purchasing), you can definitely save a character(s?) too. You definitely can affect the outcome of the story through choices.

    • +5

Nope, shallow. As already mentioned, RDR2 is a much more impressive feat.

    • Its a decent game but don't expect anything mind-blowing. I haven't really played GTAV so I cant really compare it, I'd say its closer to the old Deus Ex games, if you've ever played those.

      • lol yeh those aren't really open world in the true sense of the word.. If its like Human revolution then its a great game if its like Mankind divided then its kind of average..

  • Further 10% off with zip pay on Saturday friends

  • Sounds like it's terrible for old-gen, but personally I've been loving it on my PC. And for the record I'm running a 1700x and 1070 without closing anything and running great FPS. I noticed the driving seems terrible, there are some problems with the AI and some time-saving solutions. It doesn't hold a candle to GTA in terms of the world fullness. They developed a huge and beautiful world but obviously ran out of time or ideas to fill it out.

I think it's a super great enjoyable story game closer to Deus Ex than GTA 5

  • Purchased from Costco for my ps5 and returned it - no questions asked. Wasn't a huge fan of the game.

  • +1

Does anyone know when that deal is supposed to go live on the website?

  • +4

I'm having fun with PC version. No crashes here just the occasional funny graphical bug, nothing game breaking.

Don't get it from HN though, price match elsewhere.

You can probably still get it for $35 on Russian GOG btw

    • +1

      Really want the steam version…

      • +2

        GOG version is DRM-free.

Buy that, then create a link to it in Steam.

  • +1
  • Was so close to picking it up yesterday, blind purchase as I don’t follow game reviews or the industry in general anymore.
For some reason though, I decided to look into the game before purchasing and thank Mighty Odin I did.

Definitely not buying it for quite a while now, if ever

  • Every time I play this, I do some cyberspunk

    • +4

      More like 3 years lol

      • +6

There will be over 1000 NPCs with crafted daily routines. There are none, and best of all you get to see them spawn in and out in front of your eyes even on a high end PC.

CDPR are LIARS and have been sprung. They lied to gamers for 9 years and CDPR shareholders in November when pressed about the levels of performance on xbox & ps4.

        • -8

They did bad and they apologised and are making amends.

What else is being angry going to do now except hurt yourself?

          • +3

            @Faro: So sorry!

Maybe they should have just, not released it until it was ready and delivered on their promises to their audience and shareholders rather than making everyone who purchases this game an Early Access Adopter and manipulate their share price before it tanks?

            https://wccftech.com/cyberpunk-2077-ps4-xo-performance-surpr…
Notice how between the above statement from CDPR, and the release of the game - that their share price went straight up, but then crashed after release? This is serious. They promised their investors it will be awesome a few weeks ago knowing it performed like crap. CDPR are trash. I hope some of their higher ups sold their inflated stock after that statement because now the trash will face fraud investigations for defrauding their investors.

You are allowed to lie to gamers to steal their money, but you're not allowed to lie to investors and face serious penalties for doing so.

            • -7

@studentl0an: I think you care too much. Get some stoicism in your life ✌️

              • +1

@Faro: Maybe take your own advice and stop responding to those who do have an issue with the game?

                • @studentl0an: Yeah what you're saying is fine. I just also think for your own benefit you should care much less about things outside of your control. That's all. Hopefully you can find some peace with it.

                  • +2

@Faro: It's within my control to tell others about the issues of a product to save them wasting money, even in the face of people who are very attached to this game and downvoting me for it. I've provided links to also. That's actually stoicism, what you may be alluding to is form of nihilism.

Just as it's in your control to tell others what they should and should not care about.

                    • @studentl0an: But CDPR are giving everyone refunds if they want it. Consumers aren't really losing here if they choose not to.

Stoicism is about accepting that which is out of your control as fine. You're very much not doing that with the CDPR situation.

                      • +1

@Faro: Yes I accept it and it's within my control to warn others about the issues with the game as that is part of my morals = stoicism.

Not caring and not caring about warning others about problems = nihilism.

It's really important to not get those 2 conflated, which it appears you have done ✌️

    • I don't think you're meant to neg a deal for not liking the game. You can comment and discuss it, but the deal is still the cheapest you'll find it anywhere.
Not defending the game, I haven't played it. Just defending the correct use of the neg vote.

      • +3

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

Note how it says you can neg if you have an issue with the product? I'd say I've made my case very clear as to why many people would have issues with the product.

I've provided a few links to the fact console copies are all being refunded, the broken promises of the game and even the potential of fraud allegations due to CDPR lying to their investors a couple of weeks ago which manipulated their share price before it tanked after release.

        • +2

Ah, I have noted now, thank you :) That's all fair, I just saw similar negs in the past be argued. Thanks for the link to clarify!

  • my local Harvey is saying its still $78

    • +2

That's a new bug with that game

  • +8

All bugs should be fixed by 2077. Trust me.

    • You'll be a grandparent by then…

    • Vintage

  • +1

Yes everyone just go to enjoy their Christmas and wait until CDPR release another major patch.
They have been working overtime already and it's December now.
Just leave them to get some time with their families for Christmas.

  • People don't mind waiting really. Even if they had cancelled the game on base model consoles people would have been OK. It's the fact that they purposefully did not allow game footage for reviewers to talk about the slideshow of how it performs on PS4 consoles. It's deceitful and they deserve all the hate they are getting.
That and the game seems boring as bat shit.

  • +1

Planning to refund mine given I paid launch price for a broken Xbox game, and maybe when it's on sale elsewhere buy again.
