As the title states, with the new dash comes a new $1 deal. It seems to be for both Gold and Silver members, but I can't confirm the Silver part, all of the accounts within my household are currently on Gold.

EDIT: Seems to be confirmed for Silver as well. Now to see if anyone can do the usual trick to stack months.

EDIT 2: Just a reminder that this sets auto-renew on. Apparantly there's an eay way to disable it now, otherwise you need to call MSoft to disable it. Don't forget!

EDIT 4: Some people are reporting not being able to see the offer. There seems to be some connection to being on a current subscription which was got on a similar discount (3 months for $15, or this deal etc.), but not 100% sure.

FINAL EDIT: If you can't see the deal, and you don't fall into Edit 4, try going to the Marketplace, then back to Home area. This has been reported to 'remind' your 360 about the deal. Happy Gaming!

      It's on the front of the Dashboard, in the home section, in the middle square which animates using the right analog stick. $10 for 1 month is essentially the normal price if I'm not wrong.

    arghhh subcribed for 3 months on the dashboard this morning, $15 for 3 months. $1 for the month is a better deal though!

      Don't take my word for it, but apparently they will stack on each other.

      I just signed up for the $1 deal and then applied redeemable code for 1 free month. Now my expiry is 7th february (which is 2 months).

        Are you already on a similar offer, perhaps? I'm not too sure, but it works for all three of my accounts. Maybe give it some time and it'll appear? It's frustrating that their isn't some sort of policy where they say who or who isn't eligible.

          That's true, I know i've taken up this offer when they've had it in the past although I would think it would still show the offer but give an error when attempted.

          One other small thing… wouldn't happen to do with being in the preview program perhaps?

    Oh, not again. It is tempting for an unprivileged offline gamer like myself but the auto-renewal service kills the deal for me. I am not going to raise my blood pressure trying to speak to someone in Mumbai to cancel the service in a month's time and all the potential problems that may arise.

          I would check to see if its there first. I've been told it's there (major gaming sites reported it) but I'm not sure of how well it functions.

          Ok, so it is merely a rumor then. Or maybe it is a regional-specific option for other countries. It should "function well", why wouldn't it? lol unless their site is broken, but it is not much assurance. I think I will wait for substantiated user comments before I commit to this. Thanks anyway.

      You need a Gold account to play online.
      Foxtel is extra regardless (unless you have the Family Gold account I think).

          No, you need a gold account to play them online even after you have paid for the game.

          You can buy and play any games you want, they'll work fine on a silver account (the default one you get otherwise known as an "offline account"). If you don't have a gold account, you can't go online. If want to play your friends or other random people, you'll need a gold account. Simply put, gold = online.

          I had a silver account for years, played Halo, Assassin's Creed and a few others without any issues at all. Eventually I wanted to play online maps/challenges/games so I bought a gold subscription.

          You do get one month free gold when you first create your gamer profile though, so you get to check it out before you pay for it. After the one month, it reverts to a silver account (unless buy a gold subscription of course). It won't ask for payment details for that one month either so there won't be anything you have to remember to cancel.

          Try reset your xbox, sign out and then sign back in, try go to marketplace and then go back to home page.

    I think they have fixed the controller trick :( I get it on silver but cant swap to my gold as its still logged in as my silver. If u log out of silver completely the deal dissapears

    I am on silver and saw the deal today too after the software update.
    After updating to Gold for $1 for one month and when I am back on silver.
    In future if I want to go to Gold again, do they charge from the month I left gold?

      Some people claim to have got it, but I find that to be a lie. Once you purchase and upgrade to gold, the offer disappears, so I am extremely curious as to how something that is not there, can still be purchased.

    I just got a month of gold for a buck and cancelled auto-renew straight away.The procedure to cancel is very easy now and clearly visible on the main dashboard so I commend MS for implementing this change. Now I gotta find something to play online(most of my games are SP only). Cheers!

    Does gold give you any extra online content eg TV, music movies etc that you don't have to pay extra for? It is really not clear on MS website

      It think all movies/videos are channelled thru Foxtel(paid) and all the music thru Zune Market(also paid).
      There used to be heaps of free 'community' xbox videos and amateur video channels free to watch but unfortunately I can't find them anymore in the new GUI. Anyone else notice the new UI takes a while to boot up? Still undecided if I prefer it or not and I'm not into the whole "Kinect Centric" design.
