RUDOLPH

I don't think this has been posted yet, but it's a similiar deal to the iTunes 2 for $20 offer that everyone's used too. The deal is available both online and in-store.

Edit: Thanks to mason for the RUDOLPH code, giving free shipping.

  • Never seen these discounted before

    • They do come around, but not that often. Might have to pop down and grab me a set.

    • Seem to have been 10-15% of on rare occassions if you search old bargains.

  • +2

    Almost makes up for the AU mark ups;

inFamous 2 - Festival of Blood US store = $10
inFamous 2 - Festival of Blood AU store = $16

    • yeah if only they'd fix the exchange rate in PS Store.

  • +1

    $9.95 for shipping. meh.

    • +1

Can be found in store as well…
Or if you're that lazy, consider it free shipping.

      • Nah, just working out how to stack discounts online (5*50-$25-$20)=$205 for $300 worth of cards.

Though seems like you cannot buy 10 cards to get the price to $250, or even over $200 for the paypal rebate.

        • +1

Don't forget to go through buckscoop for another 3% cashback!
Now that there's a free shipping code, it's actually better to buy online:
          3% cashback ($1.50) making it only $48.50
          10 Qantas Frequent Flyer points

    • +1

      $0.05 saved :P

    • +9

use code RUDOLPH to get free shipping with paypal over $15.

        • +1

just tried it again, worked fine had to be logged in and on the payment screen only charged $50.

      • can anyone confirm that this code works?
        edit thanks mason ^^
        edit2 ordered for $50 delivered :)

  • Shame these are not US cards :(

Just a note about us store dlc, I've heard that if you create a us psn account to buy the dlc to your console, the dlc should work with your au/uk game

    • That is not the case. DLC is nearly always region locked. Luckily UK DLC usually works with AU games.

      • -3

prove me wrong, and dont spout some generic google post

      • This is correct; there's a notable exception in the case of Singstar, where DLC is not region locked for any region's game. This may also be the case with DanceStar Party because that's from the same Sony studio, but I haven't heard confirmation of that either (and I'm not about to try it; no point wasting my money if it doesn't work).

        • -2

Most people are familiar with the region compatibility, no need to state the obvious on that

    • +1

Not true at all. I have AU, UK and US accounts, so I know.

While game discs are region free, DLC is not. Only things like themes, wallpapers and avatars will work on Aussie consoles if bought off the US PSN Store. SingStar DLC will also work because it uses a different form of DRM (activation on only one system). DanceStar Party (or Everybody Dance as it's known in the US) uses the same DRM (activation on up to 5 systems) like all other DLC.

For example, if you buy Rock Band DLC from the US PSN Store, it will not appear/be playable if you have the AU/UK disc.

If you're looking for cheaper DLC, grab hold of some UK PSN Cards from The Hut/Zavvi or other online retailers. It might cost you around $40 for a £25 Card, but that same DLC can be up to 2.5x the price on the AU Store, so you're making a substantial saving. UK DLC is fully compatible with our AU games, as we get the same BCES/BLES discs they do.

Thanks to the OP for letting us know about this deal… I placed my order virtually as soon as the post went up.

  • Excellent just what I was looking for yesterday! And Can confirm its $50 DELIVERED! thanks for the code "RUDOLPH"

  • Do not forget 3.00% moneyback via MoneyBackCo or Buckscoop, save you additional $1.5

  • do they have the discount instore???

  • I suppose to use moneybackco you'd have to buy it online? Want to use a gift card to pay for it.. or maybe I can pay online with gift cards?

Anyone know if PSN cards have expiry dates in terms of the credit value?

  • just bought 2 for $50 with the free shipping coupon! Nice find!

    • Did they send u the code via emails?

      • +1

They send the physical card/voucher to you - if they charged $9.95 to send codes to someone's email, they'd be an uproar…

  • I bought $100 worth in store this afternoon. They didn't come up at 2 for $50, but the guy just marked them down for me, even after saying it looked like it was online only.

    • which store was this?

      • Wagga Wagga. I'll upload a receipt tomorrow, it lists two of the cards at $20, someone might be smart (or lucky) enough to get EB or somewhere to match.

        • You mean JB. EB doesn't sell PSN network cards anymore.

Just got my cards from my online order today but tried to use them on PSN. While it recognised they are $30 cards, it then came up with the error "The funds could not be added to your wallet". Quick google search suggested the cards may not have been activated so called the PSN support line and they advised it is likely as they could see the cards were active, but had no purchase date. I have called Dick Smith who advised they would look into it and get back to me next week. Tempted to go into a store to get them to activate it, but I'll wait for Dick to get back to me.

Anybody else have problems with cards from an online order?

    • +1

      Yep, same problem.

      Ordered online, got them today.

PSN Store says "This PlayStation Network Card has a value of $30. Do you want to add these funds to your wallet".

I click on Yes, and I get "The funds cannot be added to your wallet."

I called the Dick Smith Online Customer Support number (1300 366 644) and I got a guy who could barely speak English. I tried for over 10 minutes to explain to him what the problem was, and even said that it's more than likely because the cards weren't activated, but he was totally clueless, so after 15 minutes, I just asked if I could go to any store and get them to help me, and he said yes.

So, off I went to my nearest store. The counter-staff said they have nothing to do with the online sales, but they grabbed the manager. He was very helpful and refunded the cards I received in the post and gave me two new ones (which worked perfectly).

The manager gave me a receipt for each card (like what you get with pre-paid mobile recharges). Unlike the online order which just had the 2 plastic cards inside a bubble-wrapped envelope (with no invoice inside).

I'd suggest printing off the invoice you received in your email, go to your nearest store and get them to give you two new (activated) cards.

      • Good to hear they could fix it up for you and thanks for the suggestion. I'll just wait for them to get back to me though as my printer is broken!

    • yeah same problem for me, error 80023102 when I redeem.

  • Same problem here guys. Emailed customer service and waiting for a reply.
Will keep you updated, hopefully the situation can be handled soon. My guess
would be that the cards weren't activated before they shipped them out to us.

    • +1

Yeah, the cards are meant to be "swiped" or "activated" at the register at the point of sale otherwise you can't redeem them. So, whoever packs the cards for shipping obviously doesn't know that, nor does their Customer Support.

Even when I took them to the store, the manager looked at me funny when I said the cards probably weren't activated, but he just took my word for it.

Hope you guys get yours sorted out too!

Wouldn't it suck to get one of these cards as a gift and it hadn't been activated? It's pretty sloppy service. I wonder how many others received non-activated cards!

  • Same problem too. Printed out the above exchange and went in to the local store in the hope that I could get two replacement codes. But was told they couldn't help because it was ordered online, when I asked to speak to the manager the best I could get was that if I brought in my receipt and details they would try to activate them on Monday. Bummer. I was looking forward to joining up to the PSN plus network this weekend and grabbing some of those Christmas Bargains on the store at the moment.

  • They would not give the deal instore in Southport, QLD, they said it must be online only, so I ordered online.

  • Got the email as well blah!!

  • Deal has now sold out, despite no mention of limited stock. Deal expires on 19/12/2011, but they doubt they will make any more available. Cust Service said instore will honour the deal where the website shows they have store stock.

    • It would appear that Customer Service lied. Store won't honor what CS promised

  • Has anyone got the activation issue resolved yet from Dick Smith?

I contact them via email and phone and all they said was that they will pass on the issue to warehouse. This was last week.

  • They resent me new set of cards with the printout of the activation. just got them today. I didn't even contact them, they got in touch with me.
