Kogan price jacks - ACCC look this company got fined

eBay (sellers on eBay) price jacks - ACCC looks away

      • Yup.. they copped a cool $350K fine

Gotta be price savvy if you don't want to get scammed by the marketing promotions

        • +2

And they didn't give a damn about the $350k fine. They said they had actually budgeted $700k for the fine so win win for them.

      • ACCC maybe confuse on the eBay search function. It does not make any sense at all.

        • The long con. If you make it difficult enough to search for deals, then you won’t know what is price jacked and what isn’t.

Though in fairness eBay and Kogan are very different. One has direct control over pricing and the other just jacks up prices every sale.

it's saying "Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again."
and i can even see the recommended voucher

  • +2

Keep getting error message "Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again." What am I doing wrong?

    • +2

Won't be you, eBay probably haven't activated the code yet which is strange! They might have had their time zones mixed up. Maybe try in 10 mins?

      • still not working.. wonder whats happened

How is hungry Jack's being sued for the big Jack when eBay has the biggest jack in Australia?

How can this be real if our eyes aren't real.

    • Its all about the lawyers and mates you have got ! Its cool like an eBay !

    Any bargains?

  • sydneymobiles…..what a joke. So highly inflated that even with discount still is above retail. Looked at several items, jacked so high I got vertigo

    iphone 11 for example

    • +2

logitech g29 is $558. jb hi fi has it year round for 400 lol. ebay is a joke

    • -1

      Stupid example.
1, NOT jacked. That’s there normal selling price
      2. It comes down to 20c under retail after code. Less if your using gift cards etc.
Justin saying, as there are few legitimate examples of price jacking. Offer real examples, not just come here for the shits and giggles of commenting.

Amazing that you think you a code will help you find a new iPhone at a discounted price.

Retail at apple store is $1079.00,

Sydneyphones with the code is 1093.85 and their (not there) retail is 1286.88?

Why is their retail nearly 20% higher than an apple store??

Am I missing something here? Are you talking about including cashback to get it 20c below retail?

        Who is Justin?

The idea of a code is to get something cheaper. The idea is that it is supposed to take price off of the retail. If you hike a price above retail then apply a code to get it back to retail….well isn't that price jacking? How many phones do they sell for 20% above retail?

      • Amazing that you think you a code will help you find a new iPhone at a discounted price.

I did this when I bought an iphone xs off of ebay with codes

        Retail $1879

        Receipt$1789

        Ebay code applied $1433

        You're welcome

        Please feel free to comment

      • so their iphone 11price dropped to $1114.40 after sale ended from 1286.88 during the 15%. off sale

THAT IS A 15% DIFFERENCE. The entire discount offered during the sale

Still don't think it was a good example of price jacking?
