if you shop about 150 per month at Woolies then you will get this for basically free :) (10% off shop per month)

    • $125 to be precise.

      • +2

true, but isn't it you cannot do saving from shop until after 30 days of activation?

        • My 10% off discount started as soon as I signed up for car insurance policy. Although my policy start date was next month. It’s instant I believe.

          • +1

@crazyboy: I happened to call them yesterday and was told there would be a 45-days waiting period after the starting date of my policy.

            • @somecat: Just remember that you have to shop in a particular weekend as published by Woolies on their website in order to get 10% back. I didn't realise that at first, I thought they would just take 10% off eg your first shop that month which would be way easier (too easy?).

              • +5

@bozbargain: Used to be like that, but not any more.

Now you can choose when you want to use the 10% off on any day of the month. The system will ask you if you want to redeem the 10% off at checkout.

                • @littlepcat: Oh wow, Woolies Mobile should update their pages then! Thanks for that!

              • @bozbargain: Not for me. I get asked if I want to apply.

            • @somecat: In my case, the discount started instantly. I signed up in March 2020.

If you get the Boost deal for for $159.50 and shop every week at Aldi you can save even more money and get better coverage.

      • Rekt

      • +1

Not necessarily true if you only buy the half price specials in Woolworths.

    • Hey, does this work with online orders…or bws lol?

    • That is if you spend $150 in a single transaction. If you want to max it that's $500 a single transaction, you would get this for free after three months

  • Does woolies use the same Telstra Network as Boost?

    • +3

      No.
Boost have access to the full Telstra 4G Network.
Telstra Wholesale resellers like Woolies have access to only the part of the Telstra Network that roughly overlaps with the Optus/Vodafone networks.

      • So what's the coverage like for this?

      • It's the same as Aldi mobile I assume

    • +7

If important to you … no VoLTE nor Wifi calling whereas Boost have both functions

      • VoLTE and Wifi calling are completely over-rated IMHO. Wifi Calling is unreliable so my family switches it off.

        • That's not the case with me. I work in an office space where even Telstra signals can't reach (let alone Voda/Optus). Used Wifi calling on my Samsung S20FE with boost with absolutely clear reception and no delay. A great feature…

  • What mobile broadband devices can I use with this SIM? Want to use it for backup internet plugged into my router.

  • +1

Now if only ALDI mobile increased their super-stingy $99 dollar plan from a paltry 15 GB to something better…

  • +4

Remember to activate CR and SB $20 cash backs.

    • +1

I'm still waiting on Woolworths to honour payment on the last mobile deal, which they should have paid by 25/11/20.
Cashrewards is following it up, we'll see how it goes.

      • How did it go in the end?

        • That was two recessions ago, but from memory they came through within a month of my post above.

  • +1

Ordered one yesterday, didn’t get any confirmation until now, 24h later. Email warns it could take up to 3 weeks (hope this is a generic Covid message from months ago when everyone was in lockdown):

“Delivered by Australia Post. Due to delays caused by COVID-19, delivery estimates are approximately 10-15 business days.”

    • Received my SIM card today so didn’t take too long.

      • Ordered on 27/1, still haven’t received the SIM card, current plan is gonna expire on 12/2…

  • will this 10% stack with my insurance 10% ?

    • +1

I would like to know the same, but i highly doubt it

      • yeah doubt it as well. 20% off would be sweet

    • +2

no. Link them to 2 seperate Rewards card which get you twice a month 10% of. Just remember to swap your cards after the first 10% off shop

      • good idea

      • Do you know if the everyday rewards card needs to be in the same name as the name on the mobile service?
Just wondering whether I could buy this and link it to my wife's Rewards card?

        • +1

Speaking from having 2 Woolies insurance policies, it can be linked to different name Rewards card. Expect the same for mob plan to

          • @cheap-chip: I have put my Mobile 10% deal against my wifes Woolworths account with no issues. When you think about it, many families use a common single card so there should be no issues with doing this.

    • no. my 10% from phone and 5%-10% staff discount do not stack either.

  • Is this a sale or just normal pricing?

    • +1

It's normal pricing. Just that the value of the plan improved because of increased data quota.

      • Thank you

        • The extra data in combination with the cashback of $20 via SB/CR does make it a deal IMO.

  • Any suggestions on a sim to use in a dash cam? Just looking at cheapest option for the time being

    • +1

This kinda depends on the planned data usage you think you will use with the dash cam. I would not think it is high if you only plan to set it to send cloud info on alerts only and when you occasionally want to do a live stream from the car. Also, if you park you car at home most nights and it is near your own router, then you will use even less data.

      • Cheers for the heads up :)

  • Their $25/mth plan has data allowance jumped from 5GB to 18GB. Wowser

  • +1

no international calls. coles mobile possibly better deal for international calls.

    • when I first got this last year, the Boost deals looked much better for international calls. i havent looked at them recently.

  • -1

Has anyone found any good places to sell the excess data?

  • Better than the roughly equivalent Kogan offering, especially if with a decent cashback. Might end up jumping to this one.

  • Can I buy this and activate like a month later?

  • What about existing customers?

  • Can I port an existing number across to this?

    • +1

I have bought a half-year Woolworths mobile prepaid plan and have ported my existing Kogan mobile number to it last week.

  • Coles current deal is $120 for 120 GB so much better value.

    • But do you get the 10% off your shop per month?

    • +1

If carrier doesn't matter to you, that sounds like a great offer. But for me, I only get good reception from telstra where I live.

  • Please visit mobile.woolworths.com.au/offers/10-off-your-shop for applicable terms & conditions, including criteria of eligibility. This offer is limited to one transaction per customer & up to a value of eligible purchases of $500 in a single transaction (& therefore obtains the maximum saving of $50). Eligible customers must link their Woolworths Rewards account to their Woolworths Mobile account & opt in for marketing preferences. The 10% off offer will only apply to the first shop made during the Offer Period set out in the Terms and Conditions.>

Guys its not a flat $50 per month off, it's only one transaction per month UP TO $50 off. I'm single and don't have a family so only purchase like $20-25 worth of stuff in a single transaction. So around $2.00-$2.50 off per month for me, or $24.00-$30.00 off per year. Still ok.

  • can you port your number to this?

what happens at the end of the 12 month? port it out to someone else or buy more woolworth prepaid?

  • can you port your number to this?

    Yes.

what happens at the end of the 12 month? port it out to someone else or buy more woolworth prepaid?

Up to you, do what you want at the time.

  • referral code doesn't seem to work

  • It's just gone down to $140 on their website I think until the end of the year. Makes this offer even more compelling.

  • Can you buy a $2 sim and use that to activate instead of waiting for their sim to be delivered?

    • Not immediately. Unlike most other providers, they do not sell a recharge voucher that can be used to apply to a $2 SIM. Purchase a 365 day SIM and the plan credit is linked to the SM that is dispatched. I tried to get the credit transferred from a 365 day plan I just purchased for my wife to a $2 SIM in time before my wife's Kogan plan expired (Kogan gave only 2 days notice) but I was told by Woolworths mobile via chat that I had to wait unitl the plan's SIM I had been dispatched then get back to them on Chat while it was en route. It was going to be a few days before it was dispatched so I got a $9 Amaysim start to tide my wife over. It is an awkward way to sell plans.

Simplest way I can see if you need to start the plan ASAP is to purchase a $2 SIM, activate it then purchase the recharge for the SIM, if you can't wait up to two weeks for Woolworths to send a SIM. That is their SLA, 10 business days. Don't know if the $20 Cashback would still apply by doing that vs buying the SIM + plan in one transaction then waiting for it to arrive. Will cost $2 more for the SIM!

Warning: MMS video is not included on some plans and can cost 0.57 a video

(Other carriers include it at no extra cost)

    • What does that actually mean? Can i still use Facetime on the network (using up my available data credits) or will i be hit with a charge?

      • It means sms'ing videos requires extra credit on your account.

        It's not an internet thing.

  • Can’t seem to find the refer a friend ‘slide out menu’ in the app?

  • So is there anything stopping me from porting in my family's four mobile numbers and linking them to 4 different every day rewards cards and getting 10% off four times per month?

    • +2

Nothing at all. My wife and I have done this and get 10% twice a month.

  • How does one add their own referrer code to 'REFERRAL LINKS' at the top of this page ?

      • +1

        Thanks mate

  • +2

I reckon this is the best phone plan on the market for low data users.
I’ve been using for ~250 days now and only used 22gb so far (use WiFi most of the day).
I save $720 each year after moving from Telstra’s cheapest 4G plan ($55/month). And staying on their wholesale network it’s pretty much the same coverage being an inner city customer.

  • Fyi, their delivery takes ages due to "coronavirus". The situation has eased now and don't understand why there is still a delay.

  • Does anyone know if you can get this Sim for yourself and link to your wifes everyday rewards card? I don't shop wife does

    • Yes. No issues doing that.

  • how does the $10 referral work, if you purchase the plan and stay, it will auto be sent to u via email? cant see where to put a referral code in their place order page

    • its on the mobile app under > offers > Referral code

  • with the woolworths mobile app, just see its for existing Woolworths mobile customers, cant login as a net new customer to signup etc - do u order the sim at the order page above and then when all activated, then can login into the app and go to referral section?

  • +2

FYI, this just got a $10 discount should anyone want to stack the CB $20 on long expiry plus bonus $5 CB activation offer (today only) making it a cool $115 for 100gb over 365 days.
