Was trying to free some space on my phone and saw the COVID safe app.
wondering what the group thinks re deleting the app?

@ozhunter: Poor old Pfizer has to make money, how are they going to pay those executive bonuses otherwise?
They can't have only sick people taking the cheap medicine that has been on the market for ages.
Who exactly is "they"? If you mean governments who are actually paying privately for vaccines, that's ridiculous.
Why would governments around the world who have no interest or stake in a vaccine manufacturer located on the other side of the globe want to spend money in a time where money is scarce to purchase stock of a vaccine if there was some better alternative. Use your brain for a second.
@p1 ama: Big pharma/governments
Can you take a step back from fawning over them for a minute and see why people don't want to take the vaccine. You might think those that don't want the vaccine are crazy and paranoid(I prefer the term rationally skepticism 😊), and they might think your so naive.
I know the media and the governments advice has made it so people are afraid to go outside like the atmosphere is uninhabitable or something. Looking at their own stats, the vaccine is unnecessary. Why not let people have the option of taking hydrochloroquine/ivermectin?
It could simply be safe to take and this is just all a money grab. There could be some merit to those conspiracy theories as a step closer to microchip everyone as a means of tracking covid or the vaccine may cause infertility in women as a way of population control because everyone is so afraid of climate change.
It's like you think western governments/doctors are immune from corruption/morality.
I wonder if the general public in countries like North Korea, China, and in the Middle East think those who are skeptical of the government are just crazy.
I'm sure you can find some memes too 😁
Guessing this app goes down as one of the biggest fails this year.
Singapore gave us working code - it took us months to make it not work
Australian government efficiency.
As the late Kerry Packer said "Of course I am minimising my tax. And if anybody in this country doesn't minimise their tax, they want their heads read, because as a government, I can tell you you're not spending it that well that we should be donating extra!"
For 2020 that’s a BIG call. I’m not saying you’re wrong but it is 2020
Agreed there have been plenty this year, hard to know where to start.
SPYWARE
Maybe if the app gave you alerts on ozbargain posts for face masks and sanitizer, more people would have downloaded it.
Yes! Or alerted you when you were in closed proximity to a shop that had them, or pasta, rice or flour.
I think you’re onto something!
You should tweet ScoMo ask him. Bonus points, report back to OzB your outcome.
This is a hilarious thread. People worries about the government "spying" by installing an app on their smart phone. Clearly they don't know the massive tracking ability of Google and Apple that is done simply by carrying a smartphone. All these apps are free for a reason. If the government wants to spy like that they could legislate access (or just take it) to that mountain of data.
The person most pissed off with the App not working is Peter Dutton. Morrison doesn’t care because he has nothing to announce about it anymore.
The COVIDSafe app is merely a very expensive ad by the Australian Government to tell us how much they are looking after us. They know as well as independent analysts that the app design is completely useless. Remove it and save some battery.
Why not… do you think you would become infected?
You do whatever you want with the app. It is not mandatory. Police will not kick in your door and arrest you - unless you live in Vic
Exactly :D They can't have only sick people taking the cheap medicine that has been on the market for ages.
They need to have everyone taking their more expensive vaccine.
