Pretty good price for a classic pair of shoes! Not sure how long the sale goes for but Hype always seems to have a good sale on.

  • Got two for 90 from their outlet last month.

    • 2 x Pro's for $90, or standard Chucks?

No click & collect available for me (Sydney), so $10 shipping only… Can't even buy 2 pairs to get free shipping (min $130)

Great deal though - note these are "Pro" chucks, which are the skate shop version - stickier rubber, Nike footbed, rubber-backed canvas, etc - so heaps better than the cheap sh*t normal version. Pity it's not the suede version, which I've got a few pairs of & are awesome.

Order placed… interested to see if the Obsidian is dark blue or black, as pics online seem to vary wildly

    • Update - they're dark blue/navy..

  • Thanks needed a new pair for deadlifts

If you're after a more durable and comfortable pair of Chucks, I'd recommend waiting for the 1970's versions to go on sale. Can be had for around the same price and looks much better than the standard version imo.

Agreed the 70s edition lasted me 2.5 years of heavy duty use - gym, hiking (lol), everyday use.

Scuffing the rubber is a lot easier, the tiniest of abrasion will christen it..

      • I reckon the standard version is better for weightlifting as the sole has next to no padding, compared to the relatively better padded soles of the 1970's version - but every other use case, I think the 70's are the better choice.

        • These are Pro's, so have a better Nike insole, softer/grippier soles, rubber backing on the canvas, etc.

Agree the bright white doesn't look as good as the vintage cream on the 70's - but these are definitely more durable.

Are these still made by children in Indonesia?

A mate had to do an audit at one of the factories for a very well known stationery provider in the same country (US owned v large in Australia), when he arrived he noticed a big playground next to the factory and skeleton staff (adult) working the floor.
He was told it was for the families so they can bring their kids and play outside all day etc - box ticked…audit passed
But as he left, in the taxi (who was a local), the ringing of the bell indicates play time and work time…
