      Where?

        • +11

I negged, because i didn't know why you just wrote $97, would have helped if you wrote $97 was best price before or something like that.

(Tried to revoke , but couldn't now)

          • @hys: I rarely remember how it's done as well. It's in "votes" below the comment.

        • Because you never give the context for the price. At least say something like “it’s been $97 before” or “I got it for $97 a few months ago”. It’s like if I went into every AirPods deal and commented “$99” because of the eBay deal. Everyone would assume it’s that price now and want to know where

      • He is joking guys. Where is your sense of humour?

        • +3

If that's a joke then he needs to work on his delivery…

He says it on every portable HDD deal. He might be trolling rather than joking

  • The 4 TB silver for $127.57 too, good price if you don't need the 5TB

  • plus $10.3 delivery for me.

Is this a good drive for storing games/movies etc or should just be used to back up windows and documents?

  • -1

The speed of these portable drives are 7200RPM or up to 120MB/s.

    • The drive inside these is a Seagate ST5000LM000 5TB BarraCuda 2.5" 15mm SATA3 5400RPM

Nevertheless, they are good drives in my experience, I have one of the older version (same drive, slightly different enclosure) and no problems so far.
Also have 2-3 of the 2TB (shucked) and a 1 of the 4TB, same style drives, all have been good so far, some are now 5-6 years old and still going strong, as standard storage drives.

      • I guess it must be one of the better 2.5" SMR hard drives.

        • None of my four Backup Plus 5TB from 2017-2018 (different case design from current ones), containing ST5000LM000-2AN170, have shown any SMR characteristics. Yet these are SMR if you go by Seagate's CMR/SMR table.

It'd help if decent review sites started testing HDDs again. Just can't be sure if these are as good as or worse than my old 5TB portables.

  • Unsure of difference (may be the internal spinner is different), but the Seagate 5TB was listed cheaper:
