Where do I get my hands on $30/kg lobsters like the article above in Melbourne?
Can't seem to find them at my local seafood market.

:(
regional wharfs
this week sold his catch directly to the public at the Strahan wharf
Cheapest I've seen is $60. $70 if you want the one in the tank.
Per dozen? Doesn't sound too bad.
Nah, kg. Whole lobster.
Tell him he's dreaming.

Sounds like you need to find a regional area where they catch them and drive there to the local docks to see if you can get a bargain.
Otherwise never seen them cheaper than $70 a kg in Melbourne and Sydney. Especially around xmas, prices always go up.
Aww, I got excited for no reason…
Sashimi?
Half expecting some Aldi nut to come in and say they are cheaper there.
Come to Brisbane. It is on sale here: https://static.metcdn.com/drakes/catalogue/index.html?drakes…
Why not Woolworths ?
I read that there may be some deals just off the coast of China ;(
‘Mr Hart said while prices were fluctuating it still cost him $30/kg just to run the boat. “So if we're getting down to $30 we're just catching them for the fun of it. Even at $40 we're just catching it for the fun of it," he said.’
I’m guessing no one is going to transport them from Tassie to Melbourne for free.
You might be able to buy some for $50-60/kg
I prefer Moreton bay bugs that are still expensive, but slightly cheaper, I think around $40/kg.
