Get 10% Cashback Every Saturday in December (Max $30 Back Per Transaction) Using Tap & Pay @ Zip

8761

There seems to be a lot of confusion based on the comments so let me try and clarify how this works:

  1. Sign up to Zip Pay. Not Zip Money. You can use the 'Related Offers' at the bottom of this description for new signup options. Note that you must provide your email address or phone number if you want a referral, there’s no referral link and you can’t be referred without that info!
  2. Download the Apple or Android app and sign in with your details. You will need a smartphone with NFC.
  3. Go to the "Cards" tab within the Zip app. Click on Add to Apple Wallet (or Google Wallet if using android).
  4. Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.
  5. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!
  6. You should see the rewards balance reflected under "Rewards" within the "Your Zip" tab of the app immediately.
  7. Once you have reached $30 in credit, click on the redeem button to apply the credit to your account.
  8. Pay off your Zip account by linking a credit card to earn points and defer payment (The screen says debit card but many have confirmed credit cards to work as well - Amex will not work). It takes 3 days for processing payments to finalise and you cannot make additional payments sooner than that.
Things to note:
  • Applying for a Zip account will trigger a credit check.
  • Redeemable once you've reached $30 in credit (I.e. Min spend $300)
  • Rewards balance will continue accruing even if you don't redeem $30.
  • There's no daily limit. The only limit is your credit limit.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay don't have a $100 tap and pay limit like normal cards. The limit is unlimited since you biometrically authenticate yourself at the time of payment.
  • You cannot prepay your zip account via BPAY so that it goes into credit. I contacted Zip and they informed me that since they’re not a bank they’re not allowed to hold deposits. If you prepay your account you will be breaching their T&Cs and your account may get blocked. It will take a few days to unblock. Do so at your own risk, some have reported success while others have confirmed they got blocked.
  • You cannot make payments online.
  • Max $30 back per transaction.
  • Excludes Westfield gift cards purchased from Westfield
  • On days other than Saturday, you can still earn 3% or 5% cash back that will accrue towards your rewards balance.
  • Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.
  • 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.
  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

    • What if you get more than 30? Does it cap the limit at 30?

      • +3

Reward amount for each transaction is capped at $30. That is, if you spend $2000 in a single transaction, you’ll get nothing but $30 in total for that purchase.

So, during the whole promotion period it is wiser to spend less than $300 per transaction on those Saturdays, and less than $1000 per transaction on other days.

        Hope that clarifies.

        • I mean, the zip reward thing only lets you claim once you get $30. Does it go over $30?

If the rewards bar already shows $15, and I spend $2000, will it just go to $30 or will it go to say $45, with $30 claimable.

          • @ATangk: That’s a good question! Perhaps you’re gonna ask Zip or anyone tried.

          • +5

            @ATangk: One purchase cashback capped @ $30

Accumulated cashback can go over $30

            Redeem in $30 lot only

Any remaining balance does not reach $30(or not redeemed) after 8 Jan is forfeited.

            • @Neoika: I’ve asked all day and finally got a response. Thanks, won’t have to worry about spending in lots.

              • @ATangk: I posted some similar comments here. I spent $3k+ with 3% cashback in the last 3 weeks and redeemed $30 three times already.

            • @Neoika: really? so I can only claim 30 one? time but not 35?

I use my wife's credit card as payment method, no issue at all. No credit card fees for repayment.

Can a Zip rep actually confirm that it’s a purchase transaction and not a cash advance? When I add a card to Zip it says “Link your debit card”… I don’t want to link a credit card and find I end up paying cash advance fees.

      • +2

I bank with CBA credit card and it does NOT count as a cash advance for me.

      • +1

That is up to the bank to decide, Zip cant do anything about it. That said, unless the bank has specifically targeted Zip, it is most likely to be considered as a retail transaction.

      • +1

I’m doing the Westpac Spend & Save. At least Westpac currently consider my Zip payments as card purchases, just like shopping online.

      • We can’t confirm this, your individual issuer will decide based on how they treat the buy now pay later category.

    • Does anyone know if Citibank Premier treats Zip repayment as purchase transaction or cash advance? I've asked Citibank but haven't received reply.

      • I tried $20 with citibank premier. After pending gone, there is no cash advance fee on my account. But i wonder if you get point for it? I seriously can’t figure out the points system. From 30 transaction i can only figure out 2 transaction with corresponding points..

        • +1

Thanks! I can confirm this. And Citi said ZipPay is classified as Miscellaneous and Specialty Retail Stores and therefore considered a retail purchase.
Not sure about points: seems it should be eligible.

  • How long does it usually take to approve after signing up to Zip? Too soon for tomorrow?

    • I think only a few hours for most, or one day.

    • Mine took less than an hour. Don't forget to use a referral code from the OP, preferably a random one so I'm in with a shot!

    • Minutes.

  • +3

    Worth noting these conditions:

"At the end of the Offer Period, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled."

"You may only redeem the credit back you accumulate using your Tap & Zip card when the credit back reaches AUD$30 (“Reward Goal”). If you have reached the Reward Goal, you may redeem the Reward Goal via the Zip App (or any other method we make available to you). The Reward Goal will be applied to your nominated Zip Account within 7 days. You can only redeem the credit back in whole Reward Goal increments."

So if you have less than $30 in rewards credit when the promotion ends, you will not be able to redeem it. You should top up with extra purchases before then to make up the full $30 of rewards. But at that time, anything over $30 can't be redeemed either, so best make it exact.

So if I want to buy a gaming laptop for $1500, I pay it 5 times and I can get $150 back?

Then I pay it off immediately and say go to Myer and buy another $1500 of bedding, I get another $150 off?

    Is that right?

    • +1

you will have to wait for the next saturday to do your next batch.

tap and pay transactions are usually finalised in 2-3 days. and you cant pay it off until then.

    • once you reach your limit, you have to wait. make sure you claim the $30 everytime between your transaction.

      • So the $30 doesn’t come up automatically and I need to claim it each time?

      • why? I think we can make 1500 payments (5 times =150) and claim 150 at one time?

        • This is not like Amazon deal. Credit is not added automatically. You need to claim everytime when it reach $30.

          • @ce5himm: thanks, what will happen if I don't claim when it reaches $30? e.g. saying it now reaches $30, but I don't claim , then make another purchase?

            • @baron33: It will continue to accrue more.

            • @baron33: no idea, need someone tell us. for me i just spend $300 and claim it. make another tranaction. …….

      • What if you don't claim and continue to spend? Will the rewards accumulate over $30?

        • Don't think so. You can try and let us know. Better to play safe.

        • It will, but does not affect cashback, e.g. redeem $30 reward from $35.55 cashback and leave $5.55.

I already spent $3k+ with 3% cashback in the last 3 weeks

      • I manage to claim two $30 at once.

    • Just get GC, look at the link that goes to BigW 10% GC if you want to go crazy on savings

      • hope bigw stocked enough cards.

  • I failed to add the generated virtual card into google pay —- how to do it?

  • Oh damn, my zippay application got rejected. Asks me to apply again in 6 months lol..

    • How did you get rejected?

This feels like alot of effort to save 10%< probably go in store and all those gift cards will be sold out lol

Not sure I can't be bothered getting up that early

You need to hit the $30 reward, so minimum buy is $300 right?

      • How did you get rejected?

Applied. Got to the stage of entering debit card number, then it said:

Oh, no! You weren't eligible for a Zip account!
Although we'd love to, we can't offer a Zip account at this time.

Still want to try Zip in the future?
Don't worry! You can apply again in six months.

This feels like alot of effort to save 10%< probably go in store and all those gift cards will be sold out lol

Huh, signing up isn't hard lol. But anyway, I wanted to sign up to try out the product regardless. This promotion was just an additional impetus for me to sign up.

You need to hit the $30 reward, so minimum buy is $300 right?

Don't fully understand the mechanics but someone else said that it gets accumulated over multiple transactions, so no, I don't think there's a minimum purchase to get this. I recall someone saying once your "reward wallet" hits $30, you should then cash out immediately.

    • Back from Singapore?

On a slightly related topic, are there any good apps that helps track multiple e-gift cards?

    • Beemit?

  • I’m thinking of signing up as I’m getting a Qantas premier platinum credit card which doesn’t have Apple Pay! So this would be a good way to get around it. Anyone know if Z1P payments for Citibank are cash advances and if they are eligible purchases for points?

  • Many users are trying to enter the same referral code in the system, it appears Zip has turned to an invite only system and the link embedded appears to be the same for everyone, ie you need to have invited them.

We'll change the referral system to PM, you will need to PM someone from the referral randomiser with your email address or phone number so they can send you a referral invite from the Zip app. This person will also need to sign up using the same email address or phone number they've supplied to you.

Zip then credits you with that referral based on the invite.

All referral links in the system will be flushed.

Note, once you are invited, you can't receive an invite from someone else, you will get an error that the email or phone number has already been sent an invite.

    • can i do more than 1 transaction of $300each in 1 day, (suppose the 12th dec. saturday)?? and still get $30 cash back each time ???

thinking to buy $1800 worth TCN to buy iphone 12 Pro from Jb hifi .

can someone please help me ??

      • +4

Yes you can make as many $300 transactions as you like and get $30 back each time, up to your spending limit.

        New accounts usually have $1000 spending limits. The simple answer is you could only do $300 x 3 and $100 x 1 and get $100 cashback ($30, $30, $30 & $10).

The slightly more complex answer is you could do $1090 via the following method: Purchase $300 x 3 ($900), redeem the $30 x 3 cashback to your account ($90), you now have $190 balance left. You can do 1 more for $190 x 1 for $19 cashback ($30, $30, $30 & $19).

If you have a higher spending limit, you can of course spend more.

It's highly unlikely you could pay off your account before midnight Saturday so you can spend more, as you can't pay off your account early until the transactions have gone from pending to confirmed, which usually takes 1-5 days.

        • thanks mate, really appreciate

        • Thank you for writing this up. I wanted to know this information to understand how it works, even though I'm not really planning on capping my limit.

I haven't started using Zip's Tap Pay thing yet (I'm about to start). Does the 3% cashback on non-saturdays build up the same "reward" balance that the 10% cashback on saturddays does? So if I build up $10 of reward balance on a wednesday, and build up $20 of reward balance on saturday, I'll be able to withdraw the $30? Cheers.

          • +1

@pronoun: Yes it will go to the same Rewards balance where you need to reach $30 to redeem. The 3% ends 8/1, so you could keep using it after this promo ends on 26/12, to reach the next $30 if you aren't far off.

You can also use it midweek for things you can't hold off purchasing until Saturday, if you aren't worried about reaching your $1000 limit. Although you can pay the purchases off to get your full $1000 limit back, once they are confirmed, but that can take a few days for purchases to go from pending to confirmed (and you can't pay off your balance until it's confirmed).

  • maximum rebate $30 per transaction, there is no maximum cap on how much rebate you can accumulate rite?

  • To enable tap and go it generates a virtual credit card. Are there any additional fees for that or do you just need to cover all expences within the month same with usual zip?

    • Same as all other zip transactions, no additional fees.

  • Hi folks.
I have a zip money account with 2k limit. I dont have zip money account. Now, in the app when i generate a card, it gives me card no and details. But I cant add that in my apple wallet.
