Anyone Ever Claim on Warranty on a Hose?

I am looking at this hose, and it has 25 years warranty. Anyone ever claim the warranty for hose?

If it only covers faulty manufacturing, will it need up to 25 years for the issue to show up?

If I put the hose under sun and it breaks, is it covered?

Husqvarna provides a manufacturer’s replacement warranty against faulty workmanship in manufacture and/or defective components to the initial purchaser for each new GARDENA branded product produced by Husqvarna and purchased in Australia provided it has been used for domestic purposes only. To make a valid claim under this manufacturer’s warranty the product and proof of purchase must be provided to the retailer. This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, neglect, adjustments and or modifications by the consumer or normal wear and tear, the costs of shipping and handling, travel expense, lost time, or pickup and delivery.

Cheap hoses are cheaper than a happy meal and last for many, many years. Paying a $100 for a premium hose with a 25 year warranty is a waste of money.

    • Any recommendation? Including the sprayer as well. Thanks

  • It says "UV stabilised".

How close to the Sun are you going with it?

  • It’s not really a warranty, it’s just a big sign on the packet that says it’ll last for a long time.

The corporation that owns Gardena is 333 years old, so maybe they really would honor it 25 years from now. Though they only bought Gardena 13 years ago.

Dont ever buy the $6 Bunning 's 13mm hose
its zip tied tight in about 6-8 places around the coil, each spot a potential kink & kink it will
fades after 2-3 yrs ,even starts ballooning at the connection

$6 for a hose that last 2 - 3 years. That has to be a bargain?

Only if you place no value on your time, inconvenience, wasted resources, pollution.

    • what do you expect for $6? a lifetime warranty? get real.

  • Real OZ bargain users don't pay $100 for a hose.

      Unless it's hoselink and reduced.

Why spend $100 on a hose when Hozelock stuff goes on special fairly regularly on Amazon for 1/3 the price?

No issues with my Hozelock hoses and they have outlasted many Pope hoses that I've got.

I heard Pope specialise in smaller hoses.

        :O

  • I used to have something like this (got it as a gift). It lasted nearly 5 years under the elements before I eventually replaced it due to its material becoming sticky to the touch. Its main pro was its really good resistance to kinks (cheap hoses will kink 99% of the time).

I'm happily using cheap hoses now and replacing them every 1-2 years.

  • As others have said, $6~10 hoses, replace every few years. Spend more coin on getting good quality connectors

And who keeps a receipt for 25 years on the odd case that the hose fails in the 24th year?

    • +2

I have a folder of receipts on my computer for just this purpose.

    • I use brass quick connectors with ball bearing locks, zero plastic parts, crimp to the hose with stainless ear clamps, just change the orings once every few years it last longer than 5 generations.

  • bought a hozelock thinking yeah, can take it back should anything go wrong. Bought it from Masters! (Remember them) 3 weeks later, no Masters! Good job it's a hozelock and will probably outlast me!

  • Depending on where you live, someone may keep cutting small lengths off the end of your house until you have no hose left anyway.

There's some hose in this house.

Yep. I bought one that was supposed to resist heat and not perish, had a 20 year warranty or something. It was cooked within 12 months, took it back to Bunnings and they just gave me a new one.

    • I have done exactly the same thing but I was not so good at keeping my receipt 🧾 for the next round of warranty replacement, so if this fails I will be begging 🙏 for a replacement. 1st one I kept not only receipt but part of cardboard it came with showing brand and warranty. Failed 😣 to do it on the replacement! 😢

    Yep
had a hose that was supposed to be 20 year warranty and in the second year it failed (kept snapping).
Manufacturer told me to take it back to place of purchase but i didn't have the receipt so the manufacturer sent out a replacement and a large envelope to send back some failed sections for testing.

I've never had a hose last much longer than 5 years. Some bugger always comes along and cuts it up to make a bong. :-(

  • I usually buy them from Bunnings. I had them replaced twice. Easy refund.

  • Bunnings hozelock auto reel. Bought 2 and one developed a leak.
Emailed hozelock and they sent a replacement, without any need to send back existing etc.

So yes , I've claimed a warranty for a hose, and definitely happy with hozelock after that .

Yes I bought a Pope or gardenia hose from bunnings. An expensive one with high kink resistance. It claimed UV resistance and years long guarantee. After a few years it developed this black sticky residue that I couldn't wash off. Took out back to bunnings (all 30m of it) and got a full refund.

    • That was what happened to ours. We also received a replacement

  • 25 year warranty….. on what… a $5 hose. I bet you come from Victoria… am I correct

    • And I bet you did not check the link to the OP's hose!

  • If you buy them from Bunnings then you can easily bring it back to Bunnings and 9 out of 10 times they will issue the refund.

  • In the words of our immortal PM - I DON’T HOLD A HOSE.

    Kink value is 8.

    More than enough and cheaper
