  • normally $16 - $18

    • the $10 is usually not the same as the $16-$18 tho. less chashu and all

  • I have been there couple of times
their soup base are very salty for me
but their noodles are nice in general

    • +1

Avoid anything with Shio as that's Salt in Japanese

    • -8

      ingredients are probably 30% msg

      • +12

        Uncle Roger approves

    • -1

Their noodles are average, soup base is poor, salty not fined soup. Also skimmed on ingredients.

Paid $20 also regular price not worth it. Size potion also very small you have to get extra noodle. No adult can get full with one bowl regular.

One of the worse experience i had refering to the MQ store. never again!

      Only these places for ramen….

      hakata maru chatswood
      Kosuke Ramen
      Ichibandori
      Yasaka
      Manpuku

Doesn't matter how cheap i won't ever get lured to cheap Ramen places anymore!

      • +4

a ramen list is not complete without Ryo's Noodles

        • +10

          Or Gumshara

          • @kerfuffle: Almost died eating their mega ramen during lockdown last year

        • Ryo's is overrated imo. Wayy too salty, nothing special

      • I don't know where you tried but the ones Ive tried, their standards were a lot higher than Hakata or the other ramen chains. And my standard of acceptable for other Japanesd food like sushi is Minamishima. I am a very hard to please diner but I actually find Ippudo standards acceptable.

      • +2

        +1 for Hakata Maru

Why Chatswood only? Have you tried the one in Darling Quarter? I think they taste the same :)

        • -7

Because I don't live in the city, only inner west and north shore those are the best

      • Ichibandori closed a few months ago unfortunately

        • Owner open replacement restaurant in St Leonards

          Sekka Dining

      • Little Ramen Bar and Mr Ramen San in Melbourne are OK

      • Kosuke ramen has temporarily closed due to staff shortage
        https://www.facebook.com/kosukeramennewington/photos/a.42172…

    • I heard that some of the shops had to adjust their salt level because they know its too salty if they follow the original ingredient from Japan. I did notice it as my first visit when they opened I found it too salty, then few weeks later I didn't have that issue.

They are one of the more balanced Tonkotsu IMO, not too heavy but not too weak. Sort of sit in the middle nicely for those who prefers it.

  • +1

I like the soup and noodles but the vegetarian version is just noodles with leaves. It's not worth it IMO but for $10 I might do take away and bulk it up at home with tofu and more veg.

    Thanks OP.

  • +1

    has anyone been?
do we get to pick the ramen, or is just one type of 'standard ramen'?

    • +1

Last time was a couple of ramens, not one.

    • chicken, chau siu (pork), vego from memory

    • all day? no limits?

    • I think you have about 7-8 to choose from.

Ippudo is not too bad. Better than the average in Sydney.

      However, Gumshara still reigns supreme.

  • -1

Wonder if they are as good as eating them in Japan. Need to open up in Brisbane too.

    • -3

      no where near its crap

      • +1

Dang. Seems like a consistent trait. Although I found Taco Bell to be just as bad as it is in the US lol

    • Completed different, I went to Japan many times and Ramen is cheap and good, delicious over there. I can’t find any ramen here even close.

Yes, they need to open one in Brisbane to compete with Hakataya ramen and make them to lower their ridiculous price. Hakataya is getting more and more expensive and dodgy staff playing dirty tricks to not provide you extra noodles for free but you can pay to get one.

      • How much is Hakataya for their cheapest bowl? Ippudo starts from $16/$17 for their cheapest ramen.

  • +1

    Is $10 actually a bargain?

    • +1

did the person like, agreeing its a good deal or on the same boat

  • i tried their regular Ramen $20 Bonito with extra noodles. Didn't taste that great, below average. Not worth the money even $10 i would SKIP

    • Manpuku is a lot better

  • +1

Prepare to wait in line especially in Sydney.

    • +1

Yeah, if you don't get there early for lunch/dinner don't bother lining up; the wait isn't worth the savings. I sadly find their staff quite slow for clearing the tables to make space - the restaurant is often half full (even after COVID restrictions) because they don't clean up the dirty bowls in a timely manner.

  • $10 can't complain.
Also, can't compare to the other ramen institutions in Sydney.

  • +4

I didnt have a good experience at the Mac Centre one, massive queues / long waiting times and the serving size is quite small with one piece of meat last time.

    • I had two pieces of meat from Mac centre, not too long a line, but alas, I did take-away.
Serving size is small - if I was in the city, I'd just go to Haymarket and get a larger bowl for $12ish.

  • +1

The soup is diluted to the point that it’s watery. This is the Central Park one. The line to get in was also 30 mins. I guess it’s 10 dollars for a reason.

  • Any other recommendations for ramen in Perth?

    • +2

      Have you tried Nao Ramen?

      • +1

Not yet, I will give it a go, thanks.

        • +1

Keep in mind if you're looking for tonkotsu ramen, Nao doesn't serve it.

    • +2

Keisuke & Bariuma (CBD) for Tonkotsu
Nao (CBD) for Miso & Shoyu Ramen
Hakata Gensuke (Vic Park) for Tonkotsu
      Dosukoi (Freo) for Miso Ramen

      • What are your thoughts on the Hakata Gensuke in Northbridge? so far that's the only ramen store I have been to near the city and I quite like it… is the Vic Park one much better?

        • I think the one in the Northbridge is chicken ramen. So it will be different to the Vic Park, which is the traditional pork ramen.

Haven't tried the chicken one but I can't imagine it beating a pork based soup/chashu slice.

          • @John: Ah I see, such a shame that I can't eat pork due to dietary restrictions haha, I suppose I will have to settle with the Chicken ramen which I find to be quite enjoyable although pricey.

            • @OfficialBaKa: Ah, you might want to compare it with Tosaka Ramen in Northbridge then, they also do chicken ramen. Heard a lot but I haven't try as I barely go to Northbridge these days

    • Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King in the city is the closest to Japan for me. Free boiled eggs too.

  • I had a bowl there a few days ago in Perth and wasn't very impressed when the cashier snatched my bank card out my hand to insert it into the pay machine, presumably to reduce charges on a paywave. Also everyone working there looked exhausted and miserable. Okay ramen, but overpriced and bad atmosphere and service.

  • There's always this huge line, not worth it

  • +1

There won't be a 1PPUDO Day next month due to it being a Public Holiday; next one will be on 1 February 2021. This information was posted on the Ippudo Australia Facebook page

  • Ippudo Chatswood meetup again?

    • I was going to suggest an informal one in Nov like last year but then we got the SA news. But things are improving and who knows we might have 2 birthdays next year (first one in the first half) to make up for this year.

      • I actually think it's a bad location for it. The staff were genuinely pissed off last year that people wanted to hang around and talk.

        • Maybe we set an eating time limit and move to the big tables outside?

          • @ihbh: Probably. Thanks to COVID I'm no longer flying around the country on business like I normally would. Chances of me showing up will depend on the COVID vaccine.

  • Ipuddo perth told me that today there would be no $10 ramen because its a public holiday.

  • today is 1PPUDO day! yay yay!

  • +5

    Perth in lockdown though :(

    • just saw this deal this morning :(

  • No QLD??

    • There's no Ippudo in QLD …

    • Taro ramen is the best in QLD

  • Thanks OP!!

  • rAmen!

  • so far away *sad face

    • They have four shops in Sydney, where your profile says you live?

  • +1

    Is this still a thing?

  • Is this $10 Ramen still on today?

  • +1

    Can’t even up vote deal..

    • +1

yeh, wouldnt it be better to make a new deal instead of using a 2 year old thread

      • +1

Feel free to post a new deal.

        • +1

You found it.. don’t you want another Popular deal badge? lol

          • +1

@Savas: I'm only interested in going viral on Tiktok like that Savas fellow I saw the other day. ;)

  • Tsukemen ramens are the best types of ramen.

    • What place do you recommend for Tsukemen? In Sydney we only liked was Ramen Zundo, but hasn't been good recently. Also tried Yasaka but not as good.

      • ichi ban boshi… or menya have tsukemen..

      • -1

ramen zundo jacked up the prices recently too, so wont be returning

        • You know basically every ramen shop has had to raise their prices because costs are rising right?

  • Will Circular Quay have this discount too?

    • Yes

      • -1

        Thanks, will go tonight

The description should be updated to include Circular Quay store

  • They have now updated an end date on 1st December 2022

    Three chances left!
