First i thought it sounded good but after a bit of research i found the above cheaper, sorry nice try

    • itsdirect is $96.62 with shipping (more for WA,TAS,regional). Officeworks is actually $98 http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/GPS…

Also, it doesn't say in store only on the page, status is in stock and obviously pickup instore is free.

      • -2

So $2 cheaper delivered with ITS direct, was that your point?

    • wrong model!

  • -1

Price match (less 5%)? Of course a price match doesn't make it a bargain….

  • From the video "example recording" I can't read other party's rego number while the car is in motion !

    • not for that video….you can on some of the others though
Bear in mind, had there been a crash because of that, the two cars would be stationary, thus providing you with the number plate

  • The description you gave appears to be for an older model. The Officeworks description says "recording on to an SD card of up to 64GB", which is better than the "Memory: 2GB internal memory" in your description.

  • +2

No GPS in the reader-given unit… Apples & Oranges

  • NOTE, this is the ROADRECORDER model with BUILT IN GPS and 2 GIG MEMORY
    Mods, please add a picture…….
    http://www.kaiserbaas.com/kaiser-baas-product-page/motion/ro…

those other ones DONT do GPS

  • So do I need to turn it on/off every time I get in or out of the car, or does it do that automatically? I take it the power cable is long enough to fit around my windscreen… or does it run off of battery?

    • the cable is looong, tucks above my windscreen, down the side, around the dash, under/behind the steering wheel and then into the cigarette lighter

Ideally you should hook it up to a switched +12v supply in the car, that way then it's fully automatic!

Does this recorder has night vision feature? Does it works okay at night?

    • Doesn't say night vision in the specs…..
saying that though, have a look at the other youtube videos I put up for an example of a night recording….

hang on, i'll point you to the link too

      http://youtu.be/PFyNwNlr0t8

  • The link end up going to the office works home page and that's all. When I search, the only model is the non-GPS one. Can you post the URL?

    • IN STORE ONLY
      no URL
see the other links for ACTUAL INFO

  • Can you use this to record a specific driving trip for like an hour? Rather than being triggered by G force?

    • it has a manual button, manually trigger it
otherwise, yes and no to your question

just shove it in your PC after an hour driving and copy off the contents of the camera, it does a constant loop of a day or two

  • Good idea for recording. But I dont know, if it will be effective at night.

    • have a look at the other youtube videos, there's a night one there of a woman cutting me up

  • is there a way to get rid of the beeping?

    • yes, go to settings and 'disable beeping'

  • How does it mount and what to? Does it mount to the mirror, or to the windscreen? Using a suction cup? (Couldn't see details on the product page)

    • Sticks onto the windscreen with a small plastic 'bracket'….I put mine behind the mirror as it's out of the way

  • Good device, good price. There is only one problem - you hardly can see rego numbers.
I reckon it should be at least 720p do give you a good picture. imho.

    • if it was 720p, it would be four times the cost

  • Does anybody know which stores these are available? I just went up to Bondi Junction and they only have the 'regular' $99 one without GPS.

  • Bought one from Pakenham VIC. Not out on the floor. You need to have a VERY helpful staff member and let them know exactly what you're after

    • If anyone is still interested, just picked up one from Dandenong VIC.
It was a floor stock (but asked staff anyway as I coudn't find it at first). They had one left on shelf (not sure how many at the back). They had new higher res recorder only right next to it for $98.

If you have to ring/ask, the Officeworks order/part number is: LAKBA03016.

My first impression is that it's a cool gadget but resolution is quite low and can't make out regos of other cars easily (today is bright sunny day in Melbourne). However, I do like the fact that GPS and Video is logged all the time so you can check/prove that you were not going too fast passing that camera ;)

      • Thanks for the product code. I was in the Melbourne QV store today, and they were able to look up the inventory with it. The guy said don't bother with the stores with only 1, as they probably couldn't find it or sell it. Just picked one up from South Melbourne and tried it out on the way home.

      • YEs, there's a newer higher resolution version - WITHOUT GPS
        blimey,

as for liking the GPS and video logging all the time….it's a GPS video logging camera
my guess, is, without GPS, it would be called a video logging camera………Which officworks are selling

summary, you want to see where you were, buy a GPS camera
you want to see stuff in slightly higher resolution but want to pay the same, buy a non GPS camera
