My Techfast Experience So Far

My laptop broke down and I needed a replacement ASAP I decided to switch to desktop and buy a prebuilt from Techfast, I finally chose one of their express model over a custom one as Some parts were not available and paid for it on 18/08. I have to say communication was great, I already paid for my custom when they let me know about delays and they let me switch to an express one, billed me the difference and I was pretty excited. Got a notification my pc was sent on Friday 21/08 and it arrived Monday 24/08; I was stunned! Except I didn’t receive the right computer, they sent me the custom one I originally ordered ( weirdly all parts that were supposed to be delayed were in the case). After exchanging with them, they explain me the mixup and send me the computer I ordered, that i Received on 31/08, yep 2 weeks instead of the 3 business days. But hey I got my pc it’s great it runs smoothly cable management isn’t amazing but it runs! Until 24/10, pc wouldn’t turn on, I take it to an it shop, psu failed. I bought a new psu, install it, everything runs again. Until 6/11, pc wouldn’t turn on, back to IT, 3 ram slots on the mobo Failed, it can run with 1 ram stick in that’s it. Until 27/11, mobo is dead.
I’m waiting for them to get back to me to use my warranty!
I’ll keep you updated !

So it's cheap because they use cheap components? Do electronic equipment usually fail within first few months or well after warranty, so you're sort of protected finanically, but the high failure rate (if that's the case with their components) within first few months is a PIA.

Yup much better to build your own, might cost a bit more but will last a lot longer.

Buy it cheap, buy it twice.

    • Buy once, cry once is the way I see it. Sometimes a few dollars here and there just isn't worth it.

      • That's where wisdom and hard won experience comes into it.

    • Yeah I’m telling my self that I got the platform to start now !

  • What do you expect when they use brands like biostar….

    • That’s why I picked branded part originally, didn’t think I would be let down by tuf

Now im worried for my pc that is coming in the next 2 weeks lol

Wow what a nightmare. My son built his pc in July, uses it daily and no issues.

I almost jumped on their RTX 3070 deal!

I approve of all their nvidia 300 series and amd 6000 series, its the budget at $1000 that's the problem.

The budget use very cheap no name parts so that's why you could run into many potential problems, but the $2k+ version are built on the parts that you would actually buy if you were to build one yourself

I got a Techfast deal with 1600 AF and RX580 earlier this year, have had no problems. Have built my own in the past and had the occasional hardware issue, like once I got some dodgy RAM and another a PSU that had a loose connection to the motherboard (that was a bastard to figure out until the wire popped out when I was swapping it out).

Sometimes you just get back luck. At least buying prebuilt you just say it's broken, fix it. If you build yourself and have issues, and don't have enough spare hardware to swap stuff out and diagnose if can be a nightmare.

That said, if the prices were similar I probably would have built myself, but the Techfast price was so much cheaper than what I could get parts for. At the time I estimated around 35-40% more to do myself, and that involved ordering from multiple stores.

I always get downvoted when I tell people not to buy techfast budget range and here is proof, OP thinks he got a bargain but the effort and money wasted on fixing the problems far outweigh the savings

I got a Techfast deal at the start of the year and while I really should replace the Allied PSU, I honestly can't complain about the computer I got.

    Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1660, 16GB 3200 RAM for ~$750.

If I replace anything (PSU, case) etc. it would probably be cheaper to build it myself, but I've used it for a year pretty happily so far.

i've put four people (including myself) onto techfast deals and we've all received a great problem free PC dramatically under where other places were wanting to charge. You've gotten particularly unlucky but that doesnt mean everyone else's experience would be the same.

And as you've said yourself they've been very responsive with their customer service and in my opinion the true test of a company is when things go wrong not when they all go right.

Thanks for your reply guys, I’ll try to answer all of them! I didn’t buy the “cheap” option under 1000$, I paid 1400$ for rx5700 Ryzen 5 3500 , tuf b450m gaming plus. The only part that arrived with “shit” brand was the psu (allied 650w bronze) and to be honest I was planning to replace it for a modular gold plus at some point.
Yes the communication has been good when they sent me the wrong computer but since I had issues it was easier to go to a shop than waiting for them to reply to my email. As of now I still don’t know if I can send it to them, they send me an email per day asking for something new about the system. I’m going to be caught up in the Christmas fury and they will obviously prefer spending time building system to sell than fixing system they already got paid for. It’s a shame for a 3 month old products but I might just change the motherboard myself.

  • Is it possible the PSU damaged the motherboard when it shat itself?

  • I recently purchase the RTX 3070 deal ($2000) from Techfast. It took around 3 weeks for the computer to arrive but when it did the video card is faulty. I have tried to email them since they shut their call center. The response frequency has been around 1 per email and seems like they are stalling for more time.

    • do you have any updates? has the issue been resolved?

      • yes, they are sending me a replacement card at this moment. However, it took them a week to process a return ticket from Auspost. Overall, it would be really good for them to have a dedicated mobile number for customer service since their email response frequency is at once per day top (and it's usually at 6 PM AEDT).
Also, I am surprised they did not test the video card prior to sending it to me which would have saved a lot of time and effort for both parties. I recently purchased the cyberpunk game so it's been a rather painful wait.

        • Updated: Received the new replacement in the mail, it was a lot quicker since it seems they send it from Victoria. Everything works perfect despite the long way. I guess I was just unlucky

  • My techfast pc kept blue screening. Changed an ssd and it worked fine for a week then bluescreened again. RMA it then they told me the SSD was the ONLY faulty issue. Got it back and sold it straight away. Had to pay return postage for warranty claim.

ah well.. you get what you pay for. Learnt my lesson here so im building my own one this time.

  • PSU is likely what carked the rest of your system.

I think if you go for an upgraded motherboard and PSU you shouldn't have any issues really. Beyond those two items techfast are using the same components as everyone else.

  • did anyone receive a tracking number then searched the tracking number via AUSPOST (stating 2 items?)

One is your pc and the other one is accessories box for the motherboard

      • Thanks!
