  • Any local retailers price match amazon these days?

    • OW does price-beat Amazon

  • Is this eufy cam or cam2?

Sorry pretty new to the eufy camera's

    • Based on the homebase, it looks like just the cam.

It doesn't seem like Australian retailers are selling the Cam2?

      • Homebase 1 works with Cam1 or Came 2 and 2c as well since the Feb Firmware.

Homebase 1 advantage: has battery backup and you can change the 16GB card if needed.

Homebase 2 advantage: has Apple Homekit integration.

The amazon one is same as you get price match in JB, ( Homebase 1 + 4 x Cam 2), so if you had the gift card from Coles (was 15% off hard to find) or BigW ( 10% off hard to find as well) sales recently, you can lower down the total cost by 10-15%.

The burnings are selling the $999 package as "Plus" version which comes with the Homebase 2 + Basic Sensor (this is an exclusive package to Burnings from Anker)

  • Bunnings one has Homebase 2 and bonus door entry sensor @ everyday price $999, if either of those are of interest. I have this kit and really like it. https://www.bunnings.com.au/eufy-cam-plus-4-pack-plus-entry-…

DYOR but there are a few differences in the homebases. For one, only Homebase 2 supports Homekit, if you're an Apple user looking for that feature. I also read Homebase 1 has battery backup, where Homebase 2 doesn't.

    • Hey so did you definitely get Homebase 2 + Cam 2 in the Bunnings kit? If so, I'll probably do that. Was eventually planning to get a separate Homebase 2 if I couldn't get it as part of 4x cam bundle.

Trying to piece it together on Google, I'm pretty sure Eufycam Plus is Australian version of Eufycam 2. Bunnings ones are Eufycam Plus.
        https://www.reddit.com/r/EufyCam/comments/ip9rt2/eufycam_plu…

Also looked at some of the differences in cams as per below link, mine can only be set to 5s interval between recordings, not 0s. Indicating cam 2 feature set.

        • thanks for that, this sounds bad? "eufyCam 2 doesn't support facial recognition.."

My eufy doorbell is terrible when its on motion detection, goes off constantly at the battery only lasts a few weeks. With facial recognition it's at least lasting 1-2 months.

Also, they say the base2 supports usb recording, well they're supposed to release usb recording but AFIK it's not yet and has been a long time since they promised it.

          • @arcticjuggernaut: It has 'human' detection. Which as far as I can tell is face recognition. It works well. Default setting is during daytime you only get alerts for human detection and night time is both human and motion. You can customise either time to do both or just human.

Pure guess here but maybe when they did 'face recognition' it may have been taken as individual identification, so could just be a rephrase. The tech is certainly still there, but it doesn't identify (recognise) individuals.

Also the zoning works great. I have a neighbourhood cat that likes to run across my driveway in the very early hours of the morning. It was triggering motion alerts. I zoned out the area closer to my front door so I have that covered while excluding the cat's path. Now the cat does its thing without alerting me. The cat is black, like a ninja in the night darting away from a crime scene. The motion detection, in night mode, still captured it. I was impressed.

I can't comment on the USB recording. Haven't looked in to that.

Building a new house and from the quoted cost from the builder to install Cat 6 points in the eaves for a self installed Hikvison system I'm very tempted to get Eufy instead. Holding out for a 4 pack of Cam 2 with Homebase 2 and a doorbell cam.

    • Don't install their system. Basically impossibly difficult to use.

Anyone purchased this particular bundle from Officeworks recently and can confirm they got Cam 2 in the box? Definitely tempting if OW will price beat.

From the info I'm reading on previous deals, getting Cam 2 in Australia is a bit of pot luck and best chance is to buy from a retailer with higher turnover (e.g. JB) so there's a better chance the stock has been replenished with Cam 2 boxes.

AFAIK, this 4x cam bundle (T8807CD3) does not come with Homebase 2 in Aus. If you need Homebase 2, you need to buy another kit such as the doorbell one that definitely comes with Homebase 2.

    • Can you tell if it's cam2 from the box or do you have to see the camera itself? I was tempted to get OW price match but thinking the extra $150 might be worth getting the bunnings one (plus free entry sensor). I already have homebase 2 from my doorbell and I would actually prefer the older base if possible, but also would like newer cams..

      • same.. this is damn confusing

if bunnings deal are cam2 + homebase2 + door kit

then its a winner for me

just thinking where to get door bell + flood light now..

      • Yeah same. Would happily pay a little more for Homebase 2 and the door kit.

Not sure if you can tell from the box. I was at JB Broadway yesterday and they only have empty boxes on the shelves that you have to bring to the counter so no way to tell. In fact, the whole "Bring to counter" was even printed as part of the product packaging design and not a sticker, so I assume it's the case everywhere. Unless anyone else can confirm otherwise.

    • Why do they make it so bloody confusing haha
      Do I need homebase2?

      • +2

I found that I needed the home base 2 because my house is big. The home base 2 can connect to your router via wifi, so the home base 2 can be positioned in any convenient location for a strong and stable connections to your cameras/devices. The eufy devices connect to your homebase, not your home wifi.

Homebase 1 only allows for connection via LAN cable so it needed to be next to my router.

I have the door bell camera and its been fantastic. Been keeping and eye out for 6 months for a good deal on the camera but the best deal seems to be bunnings. I could use the 2nd home base as backup or can set one up for devices front of my house and the other for devices at the rear of the house if required.

        • Interesting about the wifi difference, that's a great point. I have my base 2 centrally located and the signal strength to all cams is excellent.

        • good point.

          from Google.

depends what you need, prefer battery backup instead of WIFI in case of power outage.

Homebase 2 will not record anything when power outage. happens on the hot days.

having Both Homebases, main cameras connects to base one, door bell and side cameras connect to homebase 2.

Got Bing Lee to price match the OW price beat and opened them and I believe the cameras are Cam2 with original Homebase.

    TD8114 cams.

  • bought one to identify a possum entry point, once I find out how they get in they will be evicted !!!!!!!

  • damn it! just as I went to pull the pin on the 4 cameras they are sold out :| ggrrrrrr I guess it's the bunnings deal or nothing.
