Switch noob here: are these controllers the easiest way for existing Switch owners to play MK8 with 4 players on a TV?
Probably the most efficient having everyone use one separate Joy-Con each.
Most comfortable would either be a GameCube controller, pro-controller or a pair of Joy-Cons each.

Both sets of joycons - the original and an additional set we got - have drift issues after no more than a year. I really don't like the idea of sinking $100 into more and more of these things unless they address the issue. (I've bought a pro controller for my son for Xmas - I've heard they don't have the issue because they use a different mechanism. Hope that's true.)
Yeah, the joy-cons have either poorly design or low quality issues that cause this drift problem.
call nintendo and send them back for repairs
