Well, i just bought one to ride around with the kids with. Hydraulic brakes, lockout fork, good warranty - all for $479 after my $20 voucher (built) seemed like a deal. I also liked that it only has 10 gears - i tend to find other bikes have wayyyy too many for my type of riding!
Hoping no one has any big negs (i guess i can still cancel is ozb lords say its a spud).
I was looking at something like the Merida speeder 20 prior to this - no front suspension which is good and bad i guess.

  • S min 150cm I wonder if 145cm can ride on this safely…?

Should be fine. My daughter 144cm is ok with S. The color is shocking though, dangerous on the eyes

      • Thx, do u know if S M or L all 28” in flame size?

        • Thats wheel size. They all share the same i believe. I only looked at the S as I was buying for my daughter. Ended up with a Reid because she did not like the decalthon color

The gross permitted weight limit is 120kg :(
    sigh

    • Use a sharpie to change the 1 to a 4 and you're good to go.

Would love to know how this compares to say the Aldi bike that was the same price (but sold out in no time). Often these deals are on items with massive margin so not that great of a deal therefore I would like to know if this is a read deal or pretty standard price.

      Massive difference imho

The Aldi 29er is a proper MTB with 1x Shimano Deore group set. The finish is super, on par with bikes doubled the price such as the Marlin 7 or Storm 2.

This decalthon is a hybrid bike with cheap components. Good for the kids on gravel road nothing more.

      • Aldi bikes are like unicorns tho. Impossible to find. Thanks. I think I'll wait!

        • If you are in Vic then pretty much out of luck

Keep an eye on GumTree, there is one large frame in ACT atm for $350

      • Thanks I will wait 😁

      • Holy hell ALDI were selling an MTB with actual Deore drivetrains?

Is actually a rebranded Polygon produced in the same factory in Indonesia that makes Marin bikes

My order from October still hasn't shipped. They don't list phone numbers and do not reply to emails.

In hindsight I looked for reviews on Decathlon Australia and it's pretty bad both in terms of order fulfilment and after sales service. I would avoid.

    • Surely the stores can help you? https://decathlon.com.au/pages/store-locator

      • Customer service at Decathlon is hopeless. Just support your local bike shop.

Had a bike with a dud tube from day one. Lockdown happened and it was outside my travel area, when i finally took it back was advised that "consumables" cannot be replaced for free.

Best part is being told, "never in the history of Decathlon has there been defects on tubes on new bikes".

        • They really are useless. No phone number, who decided that was a good idea? Even in store, the staff just seem to have no idea what they are doing….
