No they are new, afaik they are based on the V2.

Hey guys, I've got the Viofo A129 Duo (I believe first gen as i bought it 2 years ago)…. will I be able to re-use existing wiring if I upgrade to the Duo 2K model? (e.g. remove current front and rear dashcam and simply plug in new ones)
I 'think' the new camera has new wiring due to the rear camera now having some 'processing' included to reduce the load on the main unit… I could be wrong but I recall reading something bout this in a review a little while ago so worth looking into as it might not be a quick swap out process…
Thanks Jonc - yeah I can't seem to find an answer to this question anywhere online… so I might need to reach out to VIOFO… or just get off my lazy ass and do the wiring again!

The rear camera of the VIOFO A129 Plus Duo comes with its own chipset and does its own encoding of the recordings which means, the front camera does not come with the hardware to process the rear camera feed. And because the rear cameras of the A129 Duo and A129 Pro Duo relies on the front camera, you will not be able to pair the A129 Plus front camera with the them.Also, because of the way the front and rear camera works in the A129 Plus Duo, the connecting cables will also be different from the ones used in the A129 Duo and the A129 Pro Duo.
In other words, if you are looking to upgrade from the A129 Duo, you will need to replace the entire setup, from cameras down to the connecting wires.

I don’t write reviews. Do not do not buy A129 Duo at least from shopping square. I bought mine 3 weeks ago and the worst experience ever. The unit was faulty you won’t know unless you try the 3 wire cabling. If you take 2k or 4K version yes needs new cabling.
They are the worst customer support in history. My unit doesn’t start properly and last week onwards the screen won’t shut down by itself. Thank you shopping square
