  • Do you guys own your own physical kits or do these sit in like an OVH type network?

    • +2

Hi, no these aren't OVH servers. We use a mix of owned and rented hardware. Our Sydney servers are in Equinix SY3 and our Melbourne servers are in Equinix ME1. We run on a private decentralized network with POPs across Australia and the world with 80 Gbit of transit capacity. We do not use any large provider or network such as OVH.

      Nathan

These are way too expensive !

    • +2

care to share a cheaper AU option? I'm interested,

      • Maybe he means their RRP?

      • AU options are way too expensive, I was talking an alternative option globally

        • Well I pay $20USD for Vultr for 2cpu and 4gb for cloud compute
Same here is 126 a year with the discount….versus roughly 336 for Vultr.

Cant tell what these guys are like (GUI, ease of use, etc) or their benchmarks to others (vpsbenchmarks.com)

        • Not really a good comparison, for AU based this is not too bad, there is some dedicated options which would be cheaper but this packing a gbit link is pretty nice with a decent bandwidth,

Not to mention if your after local its hard to compare something in the US or EU as some trans-links bottle out

  • +1

Wow.. subscribed last month. I'm on the Elite plan. Loving it so far.
I haven't even paid my 2nd bill yet. Any chance I can get the blackfriday discounts on my current plan?

To everyone else, i strongly recommend these guys. It's only been a month, but the service and speeds are really good.

    • Hi, we're glad that you are happy with your service. If you open a ticket we'll be able to swap over the promotional codes so that you are able to have the current Black Friday pricing.

      Regards,
      Nathan

    • They did this for me. I'm a low user of their service (personal use only) but cannot fault anything so far.

  • hi - looks like a decent offer - been paying $15 US for a 16GB VPS currently - what CPU's are in the VPS pls ? clock speed etc - my current VPS :

    • Ah - just found this .. looks like your CPUS are faster?

Hi, we the latest Intel CPUs in all of our nodes as well as SSDs (or NVMe) in RAID. All of our nodes are smaller nodes compared to traditional VPS nodes, this allows more performance per VPS. None of our nodes have utilization of above 70%. The CPU that you have listed above is an old CPU from 2012.

If you were to get a KVM VPS in Sydney, based on availability right now, you would be placed on an Intel Xeon E-2234 @ 3.6Ghz. For our KVM/NVMe in Melbourne, it would be an Intel Xeon E-2136 @ 3.3Ghz or E3-1240v6 @ 3.7Ghz.

You can find our full range here https://billing.serversgalore.com.au/knowledgebase/2/What-se…

      Nathan

      • thx

  • Looking at pulling the trigger on a Melbourne VPS - do you have a looking glass or test file?

    • Hi, not at the moment but I'll DM you an IP if that is any help?

      Regards,
      Nathan

      • Sure. Cheers

        • Hi, could you please send me a DM so I'll be able to reply :)

          Regards,
          Nathan

          • @ServersGalore: I can't send a DM because my account is less than 1 day old (I signed up for this post). Is there an email I can send through to instead?

  • Ordered last night at some ungodly hour and it was setup within minutes. Basically getting exactly what BinaryLane were offering for half the price.

    Thanks Nathan!

    • We're here 24/7 and able to do anything at any hour, enjoy your new service!

      Regards,
      Nathan

  • Seems there is no KVM in Sydney at all? Every option shows Melb only? Guessing capacity is out?

    • Hi, yes we have just sold out this afternoon. We are awaiting some new IPs and servers in Sydney and hope to have some back in stock soon. I'm very sorry. We will be continuing to acknowledge the promotion until we have more stock in Sydney as long as the order/pre-order has been placed before the expiry of the promotion (28/11/2020).

You can order one in Melbourne and once we have stock we will be able to migrate your server over however the IP will change. If you would prefer to wait, then I can add your name to a list and we will contact you when we have stock back.

      Regards,
      Nathan

      • Thx ill prob place the order and request the move later if that works :) Cheers for the quick reply

        • Hi, no problem! We've got some room left in Melbourne and are able to get another server set up quickly if we need to. We are waiting for a new IP block from APNIC for our Sydney DC.

          Regards,
          Nathan

  • Does anyone have tests from the Sydney VPS location - preably 2cpu and 4gb RAM :)
I want to….but dont want to be stuck if a problem haha

    • Hi, what tests are you after? I'll be able to spin up a VPS and run the benchmarks you are wanting and give you the results. What do you mean by "don't want to be stuck if a problem"?

      Regards,
      Nathan

      • CPU, RAM tests, speed….
Is there firewalls in the GUI like Digital Ocean/Vultr or create your own ufw on the Linux box?
My IP changes every few days and I lock it down to my own IP so I can access all ports versus 80/443 for general public.
        Thanks

        • We use SolusVM for our Control Panel which gives you the ability to do anything you need to. We do not block ports and you are able to use them all without issues. For the hardware, our node configurations can be found here https://billing.serversgalore.com.au/knowledgebase/2/What-se…. We use the latest Intel CPUs on all of our nodes and no node has a utilisation of above 70%. Having this limit gives each VPS better performance. Gigabit ports are standard with 1000Mbps download and upload around the clock. There isn't a time that you won't be able to get proper performance on our VPS nodes.

          Regards,
          Nathan

  • Fantastic Deal, Purchased a VPS in Melbourne for $6 a month. Now watch me never get around to writing the code I wanted to run :D

    • +1

We hope you enjoy your VPS as much as we love to supply them! You've got a fantastic machine for $6/mo!

      Regards,
      Nathan

    • Edit: In case anyone is wondering what random stuff you can do, I plan to fetch data from a few API's once every 4-8 hours, perhaps storing the data into a database for future historical analysis, though the primary intent will be to do some slight processing on the data to see if it meets a certain condition, and if so a automated SMS message will be sent to my mobile using another pre-paid API.

  • Was about to take the plunge…but zero to choose from now
