Does this Air Purifier remove odours?

    • Depends on the odour! Some odours are so strong and special that cannot be removed by anything :D :D

  • +1

Does the 2H and 3H use identical filters and where would you get them?

    • +3

Comparison of all three Xiaomi air purifiers is here

All Xiaomi air purifiers are compatible with

Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier HEPA Filter
Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier Filter Antibacterial
Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier Anti-formaldehyde Filter

    • I usually get them from Kogan. I have the old version and the new version, bought new HEPA filters for them.

    So it's $139/189, -$20 PlusRewards and -$30 Commbank?

  • Has anyone who is suffering from hay fever have seen significant improvement after using an air purifier?

    • -3

Have you tried vitamin C and horseradish pills?

      • No, I have only been taking Zertec and Phenergan (which make me really drowsy) and I stopped taking it.

        • +1

Try Nasonex nose spray, there are some generic one posted here. You have to start spraying before high pollen days, normally I start spraying once I felt itchiness in my nose, that’s the indication the pollen is coming. I only need spraying regularly for a week or two. Or try telfast, it’s non drowsy, the generic one also posted here, bought some, they’re good. Hope this helps.

          • @[Deactivated]: Appreciate for sharing those tips, will try anything that might help :)

@Wsk: I have all the same issues and I started using this spray

I purchased 2 x 3Hs a month ago to test out and get really bad hay fever. Put on in the bedroom and one in the living room.

I was surprised (and a little bit disappointed) at the air quality in our house being perfectly fine.

      I haven't noticed any improvement.

      • Mine pretty much registers a 001 for 24 hours a day unless we're cooking something and there's smoke. I've lit the BBQ and it's gone to 600 before.

This is in an inner city apartment, I heard the air quality is bad in these appartments…

According to this video the air sensors in air purifiers are not very sensitive, good sensors can cost $200+. He mentions a stream of pollen might not be detected. To counter act this he recommends running the air purifier constantly at low speed rather than using the auto feature. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cgn-K5wbh2A

        • That's been my experience, the sensors only detect certain things.

I have terrible hayfever and have noticed a difference when I have it running vs not, particularly after running it overnight. If I don't have it running I wake up with a sore throat, blocked nose and headache, but I let it run overnight I wake up with a slightly congested nose, but nothing too terrible.

Maybe it's placebo, but I love it and have bought a few as gifts too.

      • what filter do you use?

        • The HEPA one from Xiaomi

    • +1

I've found an improvement, but I don't think the sensor is overly accurate, so I use the air purifier in manual mode to force the filtration.

    • Its eh, it said the air quality at my home was really good, which does not make sense as I live right on a busy highway with trucks stopping constantly, dont think they do much, other than when your cooking something like burgers and they clean the smoke out real quick

      • Can confirm in my inner city apartment.

      • one way to test it is to take your purifier outdoors to the front of your place and see if it still thinks the air is good.

    • The problem with hayfever is that as soon as you step outside, the pollen gets on your clothes and then you track it back into the house, on your surfaces as well as in the air.

I'm happy to leave mine on overnight just in my bedroom, but you really need a large one running all the time if you want a difference during the day. I didn't really get it for hayfever but for smoke, and mine did an amazing job during the bushfires last summer.

I was on daily Clarantine or telfast and having to also take steroids to keep on top of things this season. I stopped taking anything the day I got my H3 and over the past 1.5 weeks (including a few extreme pollen days) I have gone without medication (well did take 1 clarantine after being out for a while). I am spending most of my time in the one room due to working from home and seem to cope a lot better when I do go out for short stints. Either the clarantine was causing my hay fever, or this thing does help.

    • Thanks everyone, bought a 3H with Commbank and plus rewards for $139, hope it helps with hay fever :)

    • Not sure why I got thumbed down, the vitamin C horseradish pills seem to work for me, much better than what the 3h air filter seems to do, which doesn't really help imo.

    • yes, but the purifier alone won't end your problems. It will only reduce it. It can remove pollen from the air only.

Once the pollen is onto your skin and into your eyes, it's not going to suck them off of you. Clean your face and eyes after going outside and change your clothes.

After taking a walk, I have extremely running nose and itchy eyes. I will get a vacuum cleaner and vacuum my hair and clothes, then I go wash my face, and put eye drops on. After that the runny nose subsides. If I don't do this, it will be runny for the rest of the day.

    • Bought one for my dad, the Air purifier (pro? the largest size), he suffers from hayfever. He has it running most of the time and said he no longer sneezes overnight. He's pretty happy with it, so I'd say it's doing its job.

  • Does anyone know how these compare to the Philips air purifiers?

Already used the Commbank offer. Also does Kogan give 14 day Kogan first trial? Can you cancel before that to avoid paying $11.99?

      Yes and yes

      • Do you know how long it takes for the cashback to hit your account?

        • Took 5 days for me

Title should be 2H/3H $139/$189 ($20 off with Plusrewards)+($30 off with Commbank)

Plusrewards and Commbank cashback applies to any purchase at Kogan, not just these two products + is not applicable to every user

Having said that we bought 2x of the 3H for $189 during previous sales; it's quite a large unit that we weren't expecting but hayfever symptoms have been gone since and probably good to have if the bushfires return

It also cranks up when someone is cooking and clears the air reasonably fast of smoke and smells (no rangehood here), but personally I just like it for the non-directional airflow while sleeping

    • Plusrewards and Commbank cashback applies to any purchase at Kogan, not just these two products + is not applicable to every user

Latitude Pay, Zip Pay, Ebay Plus, Prime, Plus Rewards, Unidays

They are used as prefix when the price in title is after discount. Most of those apply sitewide.

      • i think a unique code that can only be used once is what separates this from those deals.

        • Purpose works out to be the same. Anyone can sign up and get it. Just like those deals.
Actually some have difficulty signing up to Latitude Pay and Zip Pay due to their credit history etc.

          • @Pricebeat: People don't include Lattitude/Zip pay discounts in the price, just as they don't include cashrewards/SB cashbacks in the price. That's a footnote for a further discount.

Prime and Ebay Plus offers are not limited to a single purchase of a $100+ item.

            • @lostn:

People don't include Lattitude/Zip pay discounts in the price

You haven't been on Ozbargain much lately?

Prime and Ebay Plus offers are not limited to a single purchase of a $100+ item.

Again purpose is same. There are ebay plus only sales and discounts or prices.

              • @Pricebeat:

You haven't been on Ozbargain much lately?

Lately that's been true. Maybe something has changed. But traditionally, zip pay cashbacks are included in brackets because not everyone uses it. It's the same way you did it for Commonwealth cashback. Is there a reason why you separated the CB cashback instead of just using one price with it included?

Again purpose is same. There are ebay plus only sales and discounts or prices.

And again, the difference is that those sales can be used more than once. You listed two items with the unique code discount price. You can't buy both of them for that price.

                • @lostn:

You listed two items with the unique code discount price. You can't buy both of them for that price.

There are coupon code use limits with ebay plus too. Sometimes it can only be used once etc.

    • I put up the same deal previously but didn't mention Plusrewards because the setup/cancellation process seemed too precarious (and Murdoch doesn't need any more of our money) nor did I mention the Commbank cashback offer because you should consider banking with an institution that is more ethical than the big four.

  • Oh man I closed my CBA account. Just want a 3H! waiting for a good sale

  • Can I go through Cashrewards with CBA+Kogan offers?

  • Thanks OP. I got one using Plus Rewards. Couldn't be bothered with CBA as I don't have an account w them. Still a great price and will try if this helps w my hay fever.

  • Where do you put in the voucher number from Plus Rewards? thx

    • After logging in on Kogan website, click 'eVouchers' from the dropdown menu under 'My Account'

  • how long does it take to get commbank rewards up and running ? do you have to have your debit card in hand or can you just sign up and go?

Lol ffs the stock delayed til mid Jan what a punish

    • Did u receive an email about the delay?

Mine hasnt been shipped yet but dnt know when its delayed till.

      • nope I had to email them because they were supposed to be dispatched on 15th December. Pissed off because I had to find out this way rather than an email notification.

        • I guess mine will be the same then. :(

          • @Bik: How did u go

            • @sauce2k: Just got the shipping confirmation after I enquired them via email 4/5 times. No updates to my email, such a poor customer service.

              • @Bik: Cooked man. I finally got an email from them saying the purifier was dispatched on 4th Jan

  • Welp, Kogan just sent me a figure 8 power cable, plus two separate responses to my "where is it" query. No actual air purifier yet though. :/

    • My first Kogan order surely it’s my last.

      • I am with you, but mine is finally going to arrive today.

  • Mine arrived but box isn’t in the best condition….
